Yeah, ive had problems 3 times in the last 6 months. Twice I was missing turbo bolts, and once my manifold bolts where loose, along with a missing turbo bolt. From what I hear, its suposed to be fairly common on these fords.

HAHAHAHAHAH LOL this is GOLD....Absolute GOLD

Spot on. Whilst your checking the turbo housing bolts also check the manifold bolts. Ive had both sets of bolts get loose on me twice in the last 6 months !!!!!

More specifically RapidChris, take a look at http://www.bestmufflers.com/Information/Cu...yno_Results.htm I gained 13rwkw with the 3" Xforce system, took a long time to develop the exhaust and it is a great product. The car will NOT go into limp mode due to this exhaust, and I have driven around with this system for a good 4 - 5 months with no problems what so ever (PS, I have to say, if you do go any free'er flowing then this system then as Ghea said, it will go into Limp. The Xforce system is just the right size). Further more, the Xforce system has potention to go up to approx 270rwkw if you later add a chip/edit etc and sounds great. Freedy, are you in syd? If so and you want to hear what the 3.5" system sounds like, let me know and you can hear mine. Regz Dean <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Dean yeah I'm in sydney, not far from bestmufflers actually. I'm interested in the new xforce system and your car was the development car so I would be keen in hearing it. when will you be at bestmufflers next ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This sat being the long weekend I cant, however the following sat (Oct 8th I think it is) I should be down there. Send me a PM closer to the date, confirming if your going to come down and we can organise the time etc.

He will eventually need unichip or edit in his car if he wants more power. Rapidchris, from my testing, when the exhaust became too free flowing, boost started to spike and the standard computer dropped ther power (as shown in the below dyno graph represented by the red lines). The system tested was a 3" system with no cat (please note, the car was not driven on the street, it was purely taken off for the dyno, then the cat was replaced. The test was supposed to find if the std cat was a restriction which it was).

Good luck and best wishes on trying to get to this mate. Everyone will be interested on your results. I hope you have new rods and pistons as well as bearings and gaskets ready to go in mate, or you better get yourself a bucket to put the bits into. as for the exhaust, the dump and cat from these guys has had nothing but good reports. Dont know about reducing it to a 3 inch system though. If its big numbers your after, You may need more. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, the whole point of doing this is to maintain back pressure, which from what I know, you really dont need much of at all in a turbo car. The theory is, as the gasses cool down they require less area, dropping the diameter of the pipes makes sure you dont have too much area and not enough gas. This is my understanding of it anyway

As long as its done properly, and the bends aren't too sharp there shouldnt be a problem. Also depends on the welds, normally you would want an exhaust tig welded from the inside rather then mig from the outside. This stops spatter etc to get caught inside the system. There are all small things though, the easy answer to the question is no, it wont effect it (PS, also depends on the pipe sizes when you break off etc)

My system with an added rear muffler (to keep it legal) http://www.bestmufflers.com/Information/Cu...yno_results.htm
-
Nice high flow mid muffler will do wonders
-
Whats important is how much power are you currently running?? I tested a 3" system, along with a bunch of others (for reference please look at http://www.bestmufflers.com/Information/Cu...yno_results.htm ) and the max I could get out of the car was 270rwkw. I had to up the size of the exhaust to get more then that. Regz Dean

Dont tease me Master <{POST_SNAPBACK}> HAHA LOL, I think that one was directed at my plates LOL

Nice to see yet another Phantom Beast around the area. Make sure you do beep if you see us around. Happy cruising. MG....come on mate, its WIPLSH lol, not WHPLSH

GFB Stealth FX Ive got one on mine, sits in the factory position as long as you get the XR6 adapter with it. Unplug the std one, fit in the new one, no cutting, weilding, modifing etc required. And it sounds SEXYYYYY !!!!

That looks mad. I have to look more into it and get a price. Can't wait to hear it. Thanks for your help. Tim <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Tim, What system are you interested in, the single system or the quad system. If you want to hear the system, you can hear my Quad, otherwise one of my friends has my previous test system (the exhaust I used when we did all the dyno sheets) which is the single system. I might be able to organise something so that you can hear that too. If your interested, let me know, we can organise a meet at Best Mufflers, you can meet the Owner, Chris, and hear some exhaust systems. Regards, Dean

Hi TIMXR6T, Take a look at http://www.bestmufflers.com/Information/Cu...yno_results.htm Also, do a bit of a search on the forums and you will find heaps of info. Ive personally used Bestmufflers on a number of occasions and I cant stress enough how good the quality of work and product is they sell. You may want to get in contact with Chris and he will be able to sort you out. As for livo ex, I dealth with them once and didnt like what I was told, I felt the advise was un-professional and wrong. Get rid of the edit, keep the chip LOL Actually I wouldnt mind running both, perhaps when the aps one comes out. The only real reason I would run the edit is to remove the speed limiter.
-
This is true to an extent. The car will still run, just not all that well. Through my tests I found that if the exhaust is too free flowing the computer tends to cut the power. Perfect example is shown in the following dyno sheet :: Looking at the dyno sheet, specifically the red line (the green line is with cat, the red line is without cat), you will notice that as the power starts to shoot off (ps, notice the difference in power with no cat....shows how restrictive the std one is) the boost begins to spike. Normally your oost should be a nice flat looking line, starting at about 6psi going down to 5, and leveling out at about 4psi. But in this example the exhaust is free flowing enough to allow the turbo to boost up harder. Problem with this is, the std computer has no idea what to do with all this extra boost hence the sudden drop off in power, as shown in the graph. Regards, Dean

Nah I dont....are you in syd ?? If so your more then welcome to hear it in the flesh, otherwise any ideas on how to take a good quality sound recording ??
-
I gotta say it, its hard to go past the APS cooler, its such a good unit....pricey but worth it.
-
Unichip, exhaust and a nice airfilter will do the trick .... lol whilst your at it, cooler injectors and you'll be cheering

3)your system if you dont mind telling me?? Nah that's cool, at the moment im running a split dump pipe (3" dump with 1.7" wastegate pipe), going into a 4" cat. 3.5" single system, 1 high flow muffler before the diff (straight through muffler), 3.5" over the diff, once over it breakes off into dual 2.5" (this is for my quad pipes), and as soon as the bend is done that breaks off into a further 2, leaving me with 4 2.5" pipes up to the tail pipes. The dump pipe is getting changed soon, we are playing around with different types of dump pipes. Ill let you know how I go with the future tests Here are some pics, as shown on www.bestmufflers.com 1) Engine Bay <div class='bbimg'> </div>2) Dump pipe on its own <div class='bbimg'> </div>3) The dump pipe on my car <div class='bbimg'> </div>4) The cat and beginning of my exhaust <div class='bbimg'> </div>5) The single muffler (only muffler in my whole system) <div class='bbimg'> </div>6) The ass end of my baby <div class='bbimg'> </div>As mentioned previously, you can find a full write up on http://www.bestmufflers.com/Information/Custom%20Systems/Ford_XR6_Turbo_Dyno_results.htm Regards, Dean

So which system are you talking about? The X-Force 3inch system, or your 3.5 inch system?? I beleive the x force may be coming out in a 3.5 inch system?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Depending on the power levels you are after, if your not going to go nuts, stick to the 3" system, it will do the job plus some. If you want to go 270+ then you would be better off with the 3.5" system as im currently running. As for the 3.5" system, my car was in 2 weeks ago for a week, the exhaust was taken off and a mould was made. With that being said, the 3.5" system should be abailable soon to be purchased. For those of you that are interested, looks like you'll be able to purchase the quad setup soon too. Regz Dean EDIT:: Swanga, the current system on the car, 3.5, it is a Xforce system done by BestMufflers. All my exhaust work goes to BestMufflers who do Xforce system (along with plenty of custom work etc) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Im more concerned about sound, does the 3.5 inch sound louder than the 3inch?? Can you tell the difference? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That I cant answer yet, my 3.5" quad system has no rear mufflers, so its loud.....I havent meet anybody yet that doesnt like the sound of my car...ive even been told a couple times that its the best sounding XR6 T around.....however the new 3.5" system will have 2 mufflers in the ass end to reduce noise (for the quad setups) as for the single setup im not too sure on the muffler configuration. It should be a bit louder but that can always be fixed with the muffler (dependingo n what you want). FPVT6 - the APS system is a good system and they sound good under acceleration, however you dont get any sort of sound on idle. I guess it really depends on what your after in an exhaust. Regz Dean <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry to be a pain but could you explain the way your system is set up?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry dude, before I get into it, do you want an explanation what exactly would you like me to explain? 1) The 3" Xforce system that been developed 2) The 3.5" Xforce system that is to be released, or 3) My 3.5" system (Mine is a custom system that differs a bit from the production system) Also, take a quick look at the link I put up previously, you will find pictures and dyno sheets there also Regards, Dean
