Julien, as I mentioned a couple times, I am not anti Edit, I have never bagged it and I never bag people who suggest it. These "wars" start because you guys cant help yourselves .... maybe not specifically you, but you so called stooge hunters cant help but bag out and mock whoever mentions the Chip. This is my point, I am not being uptight about the Edit, I've just had enough of having to argue my opinion every time I post something up. You guys like your edit, fine !! I like my chip !!! So really there is no argument here. I am telling you right out that I think what the Edit is doing is great for the ford community, and at the same time, same goes for the Chip. They are BOTH performance increasing/enhancing tools. Which is better can be argued all day and all night, and to tell you the truth, I really dont give a f&^k. I have made my decision as to what I'm running in my car and will not change it even if I was offered a "FREE" edit ! Cheers

Guys, the only reason you are picking on Steve is because (no offence Steve) but he isnt the most experianced of drivers around here. End of the day, track driving has got diddly squat to do with total power, its more the total setup of the car. Now you guys are just plainly talking sh*t....sorry, but you are !! If I recal your clutch burnt out or something.....Perfect example, should I go screaming out that Edit is sh*t cause a typhoon with edit ran a sh*t time.....this is what you guys are doing, making calls without looking at reason !! Jeff, true my car hasnt ran a 12 yet however there is perfectly good reason behind that. My car has run a 13.3 second pass with a slipping clutch, confirmed not only by my mechanic but by the DNF run that I pulled when the clutch packed it in on the same night. Now with a new clutch, ill take her to the track again and will post up the time slips when I go. On this point though, again, you miss the point !!! End of the day, running on the track again means sh*t all unless you know how to drive, therefore, you really cant compare 2 products when you have differences in driver ability !!!! As for MG, his first run had the car going sideways and he still managed a 12 second pass.!!! Wait till he gets used to running on slicks then we shall see what time he pulls..id say it will be ALOT better then an 11.9...PS, I was expecting you to show at the track that day, perhaps a bit of a run ??? Anyhow, end of the day, all this comes down to is the fact that you blokes have no respect for somebody elses opinion, and once somebody mention's anything but your precious edit you all jump at the chance to cut their throats.

from my understanding and from what I have heard (and been told) ford can detect the Edit in the cars. It has to do with the revision dates between current and old releases or something like that. I had a good 30 min conversation with somebody a while back that explained it all to me and to sum it up, they can detect it.

That's incorrect. You can custom tune the edit as many times as you like. If you buy the unichip you WILL need a custom tune which means its going to cost more than an edit straight up. With the edit you can drive around on the generic tunes (yes tunes not tune I.e. unichip) and when you're ready go and get a custom tune. If you go the unichip you'll also want to increase the line pressure through your auto with an addition of a shiftkit which is more $$ whereas this is all configured through the edit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Funny you say that because I heard form a number of people that the amount of times you can custom tune your edit is limited.....if I recall correctly, there was even a couple posts up on this forum about that issue. Either way, im not here to argue Chip VS Edit.....Ive got a chip and it does the job well with no problems. I dont regret it nor would I take it out and but the edit in !! However, I do respect the fact that the edit will increase the performance of the car, as does the chip (which some people forget on this forum). Anyhow, what I would suggest simonparker, would be to find yourself somebody with edit, find yourself somebody with chip, and take a spin in both....decide for yourself as alot of opinions on forums are bias. With that being said, I missed where you are located, if your in syd, PM me and id be more then happy to take you for a spin in my car.

Personally id be going an APS Phase 1 with the Unichip.... wil give you approx 240rwkw, enough for the time being, and all the parts can be taken to your new car. From what I have heard you can only custom tune the edit 5 times, meaning that your 2 down by the time you get your BF, where as a chip is plug and play. As for the argument that the edit is more stealth, if you want to keep your warranty with a chip, just unplug it....sure your car may run like a dog, but there are effectively no mods. With the Edit you need to re-flash the standard ECU and according to a couple people I have spoken to, including some dealers, the Edit can be detected. Even though this forum has turned edit only, you will find that there are still a good number of chipped cars that pull some decent times. Either way, regarless of whether you go edit or chip, both a performance enhancing which is great, and I am sure you will enjoy whichever option you end up with.

I just recently fitted a set of Brembos to my car, and Mate I have to say, if you have the extra cash laying around, they are the BOMB. The care ive been in that could stop so hard was Master G's, also with Brembos and my old mans 350Z Track.....Again, brembos. The point, if you have the money, nothing compares !!

yeah fair enough too... although I wanted this poll to see whether or not a few tuners are doing the vast majority of edit tuning or if it was more widespread over all the edit dealers. Before they flash, the current version numbers will be displayed, that way they can look at whats on your car compared to previous versions etc. It just like any firmware update, I can flash your firmware, but I can also see if your version has variations to the version previously installed. Anyhow.....most dealers are pretty good so it should be right I guess.

You gotta love these Edit forums You guys forget that the whole forum isnt Edit. There are members with other technologies in their cars, IE, TSI, Unichip or stand along computers....Motec, Haltec or Autronics etc. To get a better indication you would probably want to compare who has what technology and where it was done. Anyhow, my 2.5 cents worth

Too bad the dealers can detect the edit....this may cause problems for some !!!! According to a couple dealers I have spoken to anyway.

Better results in your opinion.....This point can be argued. However they are both Performance enhancing technologies that do a great job at making our cars go faster. I dont see a problem with fitting a Uni Chip to an AU.....there was a guy at my Tuners place a couple weeks back who had one on an EL, so I dont see the problem.

ive got an extreme organic in mine with just over 300rwkw. Seems to hold the power fine, grabs nicely and to be honest, when it was first fitted I thought something was wrong cause it was softer on the pedal them my std clutch. I highly recomment this clutch.

Ive been running the T5 with 303rwkw and approx 790nm torque (according to dyno, I know there is the whole tractive effort issue etc) for approx 30000km now. Not problems and I definately do not baby the car. Perhaps I was lucky with a good box, but I have had no problems. Regz Dean

Amen....agreed on the one Jeff. Xforce 4"/3.5" system is your answer lucifer. There are 2 configurations, you can go either the Split dump pipe (which is what I am currently running) or the 4" dump pipe (which I am going to change to). From there you have a 4" cat and single 3.5" system into 1 high flow muffler. 3.5" continues over the diff. From here on you can either go into the tail pipe (perhaps dual tips), or you can use a y collector to split the system into dual 3", 1 muffler on each side, then quad pipes out the back. For all you syd guys, if you are interested in a 4" dump/SMB 4" cat combo best mufflers is about to release their 4" dump which was measured up on my car a couple weeks back. I am also running the 4" cat and highly recommend it, as it is an awsome cat. Just for comparitive purposes, my car is running 303rwkw at the moment (chipped rather then edited), and ill post up some info on the results once I get the 4" pipe dynod. Regz Dean
