    Speeding Fine.

Settle down guys, getting a bit out of hand with some of the unnecessary comments towards each other.

    Speeding Fine.

Should be able to put this thread to rest next Monday (court date) As a matter of course I am getting the speedo checked and verified for accuracy to eliminate error on my part. I am realistic enough to know that I may not win, however under the circumstances and having collected my evidence, photographed and mapped area of alleged infringement it has to be defended and not just walk away and forgot about . I will be representing myself on this occasion as it is after all only a minor traffic infringement and I have all my points so there is no issue of losing points/licence so I am prepared to spend my time at court but draw the line at any other legal costs. It will be interesting to hear their response when questioned as to how a lidar can work accurately looking downhill through a near solid mass of gum trees fully laden with thick green leaves.Anyway let you know the result next Monday night.

    Speeding Fine.

Thanks for the input guys, my missus also said just pay the fine and move on but I guess im just too stubborn and its not about the money anyway as in the past I have copped a fine for creeping over the limit and have no problem with that. A couple of members mentioned attitude, although I did get out and object that I was booked I didnt raise my voice or get in a slanging match, just asked a couple of questions - distance, calibration of unit and also why a white Late model camira was travelling past me (2 lane section) and he was not booked and also asked how they could see through tree branches. They suggested I take it to court and I told them I would be and that was that. I just want my day in court, I will take all my evidence, they can present theirs and we will see what we see. cheers

    Speeding Fine.

Off to court on 15th April to fight a speeding ticket. Travelling at 60kph in a 60 zone and saw the police in the distance (approx 300mtrs) was watching my speed and as I had it set on digital readout it is pretty easy to keep speed in check. As I approached police I was pulled over. Unfortunately they say I was doing 80kph. At this point I got out of my car to discuss and flat out deny it with them as I knew I was not travelling over the speed limit, but to be expected I was told to go to court if I thought I was not speeding. Their vantage point was obstructed by trees over the road and power lines so I went back and took photos of this looking from where they say they were holding the lidar. I also used my measuring wheel and put some stakes at various (20mtr)intervals with yellow tape and took some shots of that so when I go to court I will be able to show what line of sight they had at the distance they claimed they registered my speed. I have kept all 12 points for 7 years which is not too bad a record so hopefully it will help and it will cost more than the ticket is worth to appear in court but it is a bit hard to swallow when you know they are wrong, I accept that the Lidar units are accurate if calibrated, however who knows how shaky or unsteady the highway patrol guys hand was at the time. Anyway its not a major issue but just bloody annoying.

    M7 Fatality

Another tragedy today on our roads. Driving on the M7 (Sydney) this morning saw a B Double demolished on the side of the road and behind it a small FWD, maybe subaru squashed. Heard on the radio guy in car was in the breakdown lane and truck left the road and went straight over the top. There was no chance to survive that. Trucky serious in hospital. Its one thing to see it on the news but another thing to see it close up with the rescue team trying to remove the victim from the vehicle. Very sobering stuff.

  7. I guess most are dags, but I have an Australian made flag. You make a good point and people should be trying to buy Australian made instead of sending their money overseas.
  8. AND, if we dare fly an Australian flag on our cars we may get pulled over by police and told to remove them as it may cause problems. This happened on the outer west fringes of Sydney recently. One of the motorists basically told the police to p***s off and either charge him or leave him be. They left him be. Just one dumb arse cop making the other 99.99% look bad. Saw a few patrol cars on Australia day flying the flag, to them I say well done, to the other moron, hang your head in shame. It still is a free country last time I looked.
  9. Nord locks are what I used on my old BA. They worked well mate. I did my turbo to dump and turbo to manifold and also where the turbo itself splits. Got sick of tightening them up and replacing them as they fell out.No such problem with the FG so far thank goodness. Also bought mine at Coventry fasteners.
  10. Had new diff, new tailshaft and still have clunk under light load. Noticable mostly in stop-start traffic when on and off throttle at low speeds. I just keep taking it back and maybe, just maybe one day ford will work out how to fix it.
  11. whitegoods on wheels smick, next youll be eating chinese (cream of sumyungguy) Had a toyota camry phase myself a while back but thank goodness I snapped out of it.
  12. cute liitle bloke. looks like he runs on AA batteries. Dont think I would want him chewing on my leg in a few years though.
  13. Thanks guys, all good now.
  14. Having problems changing avatar, will not delete old one and after deleting and save changes the original is still there. Any advice ?? Thanks

    Removing Hardlid

Made Typo above- meant to say at (2) is that when removing gas struts from the bottom connections I used 13mm open ender on these fittings.

    Removing Hardlid

Took mine off yesterday to put in a high load.1)Had my young bloke stood up on the tailgate and hold the lid in the open position. 2) pulled out 2 x front wire clips using 13mm open ender &undid gas struts from the bottom connnecting points.3) lower lid down carefully.4) one person each side to lift off and put on tarp so I wouldnt scratch the lid. Found it pretty easy to put back on and line up the front clips as long as someone is holding it open , when putting clip through hinge the person holding the lid might just have to jiggle the lid a fraction to get the clip home. That was benefit of my roller shutter on my last ute, just roll open the shutter for tall loads. Mine is an FG with the hump (EGR) brand. Good luck with the moving

  18. Haggle the price if you are keen on it , seems overpriced for BA MK 11, ended up selling my old MK11 ute for around 16k, with plenty of mods and 310rwks. Looks a nice ute and the main problems with them (brakes, gearbox, v/springs) have been addressed. All the best with it Mitch.

    New Ride

Well done mate, have fun with it. Utes Rock
  20. Absolutely Buf, the only station I listen to.
  21. Spin, Kids got mine from Dick Smith but have seen them at Ryda also. Price is around $230 dollars. Not sure what other brands are out there for cars, will review later this week on reception and any drop -outs driving around different areas of Sydney. My brand is 'PURE' and there is more info on their website(just google pure and it comes up first on the page) Also check your coverage area on digitalradioplus website to make sure the area you are going to be using it is covered. I think coverage will be gradually rolled out to outer and regional areas ,maybe someone here may know a bit more about that.Anyway I'll see how it goes and update on my results.
  22. After whinging and whining about getting crap am reception in the ute my kids bought me a digital radio for xmas. Brilliant clear sound with no crackle. Back to work on Tuesday so will be trying out reception all around the metropolitan area then. Can not believe the difference in sound quality. Anybody else have one of these in their cars? and how is the reception where you are. Probably a lot of the younger guys mostly listen to FM but for old blokes like me who like to listen to talkback on the AM dial, seems a good leap forward so far.
  23. Gotta love xmas, our tree went for a tumble too, last year went to the tree farm and bought a 6' tree, but this year thought I would have a Clarke Grizwald xmas and bought a 8' tree. Adjusted the tree in the base with the screws and loaded up the tree with lights, decorations till you could hardly see the tree. Was here reading on the forums when I heard a bang and tinkle tinkle in the other room as most of the decorations fell off. Doesn't sound like you are having the best time mate, you had the cat annoying you but I had my mother in-law, Things can only get better from now on mate.
  24. Heart warming story, sad, but great bunch of people to help the young guy out.
