  1. I'd be driving a black pursuit 250 manual. it was a toss up between that and the T when I brought my ute. damn the windsors sound nice.....
  2. Why would the G6E's have an LSD? fords DSC works by applying the brakes to the wheel that is rotating faster than the rest (amongst other things) So by having an open centre diff and applying brakes to a spinning wheel you are transfering that power to the wheel that is not spinning. these vehicles are designed around DSC that is why they have an open centre diff. Now by having a LSD and DSC it would be pointless because DSC would detect the spinning wheel before the mechanical LSD can lockup. If the LSD did lock up and the DSC engeged the brakes on a rear wheel it would be like pulling the handbrake because both rear wheels would spin at the same speed. This would stress components and one would assume accelerate failure, If ford chose to void warranty due to fitting an LSD I could understand that. Possibly not a really good explanation but sit down and have a think about it, it does make sense. Now you will be wondering why the hell does the XR6T have DSC? well I have no idea, I can only assume the the DSC is diffrent between the models or there is scope for it to be diffrent. Now everyone is confused I'll just say, for DSC to work correctly it must be on an open diff. 2c Luke
  3. The first thing I would do is replace the fuel filter. My car did all of the above things, I changed the fuel filter and it was as good as new. Ask for a Z373, should only take 15 minutes and $20. If it is backfiring it sounds like it is running lean, that would make me think it is the fuel filter, fuel pump or the strainer as mentioned before. does your fuel pump sound a bit noiser than normal? If you have a mate with a BA invite him round for a few beers, grab your allen key set and swap out your coil packs with his. take it for a spin, if all is good you have found your problem. (you can use BF coils in a BA but not the other way around, BF's have variable dwell or some crap. I think annyway) But I would be looking at the the fuel filter first. good luck Luke
  4. I think the titanium 5" tip looks a bit too ricey, but each to their own. $2,420.00inc seems a bit excessive to me. cheers Luke
  5. nolathane make a lowering kit for the BA utes, part #47952 that kit will only lower it by an inch but that's about all you will get with stock 17's. You say you have 20's? then you can use Nolathane #47950 that will get you down about 1.5" and if you are really keen, a set of #17951 will lower you about 2 inches. I should also mention that #47951 are not listed in the nolathane catalogue as being for out utes, they are for diffrent models but will also fit. you will need to buy 2 kits (one for each side) and they come with all apropriate mounting hardware. #47952 1" #47950 1.5" #47951 2" (bigger wheels required) Also worth noting is that they are not legal in some (all?) states, not that annyone really cares. And yes those numbers are in the right order. Sorry for the thread mining but I thaught it was about time that somone dispelled the myth that you could not get lowering blocks for our utes. hope this helps Luke
  6. Mate you need an M18 x 1.5 nut, buy one wherever you can and do a test fit to one of your existing sensors. you will also need to machine the nut down so it is thinner, If you weld a normal thick nut on, the probe won't be properly in the gas flow. happy welding Luke

A coil it was. #5, might have to keep a spare one from now on. does annyone make an aliminuim cover to replace the black platic thing that covers the coils and holds them down? Not only would a billet cover look tops it would keep the coils a bit cooler, Just a thaught. thanks for your help.

Yep, I'm aware of that, I'll get one and try it on each cyl and see if the prob goes away. I have trouble beliving that a coil could become unservicable haveing done such a small ammount of k's. RAP1D, what do you mean by get it diagnosed? are you talking about a visual inspection or testing the resistance on the high and low sides of the coil? I hate ford here, They wouldent even know what a WDS is. I wouldent even take my Expensive Daewoo to them (if indeed I was unfortunate enough to have a holden). Thanks for your replys, I will try a coil pack tonight. Luke

The plugs are brand new, re-gapped to CAPA's specs. I replaced and regaped them a couple of thousand K's ago when I got the C&v Generic tunes. If I hold my foot flat to the floor the damn thing tries to start, that's why I originally thaught it was the TPS. So I'm not to sure about that one. I will get a new Coil from work tomorrow and I'll let you know how I go. Thanks for your help so far. luke
  10. Hello, I have a 2003 XR6T ute, Only had it about 3 months It has done about 32000ks. The other day It started to run rough when I was driving down the street, so I drove it home and it stalled in the driveway. Now when you start it she feels like she is running on four cylinders, when you stab the throttle it stalls. If you gradually put your foot down it will rev up and seems to loose its miss and smooth out a bit above 3000rpm. The engine light is not illuminating, fuel pump sounds healthy enough. Thus far I have replaced the TPS, fuel filter and cleaned the T/B. I have ruled out it being a vaccum leak by spraying aerostart on all the places it may develop problems (intake manifold Etc). The Ute also has been returned to the factory tune (from a C&V 10PSI). and I have also reset the ECU. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what the problem might be, it is irritating because the car is undrivable as it just stalls when put into park. I guess the next thing to look at would be the fuel pump and coils. But I have trouble beliving a car with such low K's could have such problems. Anny help would be much appreciated. luke
  11. If you use Ebay chec out this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Electric-Ex...sspagenameZWD2V An electronic exhaust cutout, I plan to put one on my XR6T (if I ever get one) and dump straight into the atmosphere. Futhermore coupled with jaycar's "quickbrake" kit It can be activated with a quick blip of the throttle (connects to the TPS). The quickbrake kit was originally designed to tun on your brakelights when you quickly back off the throttle. the kit can also be wired up (instruction included) to work when the throttle is opened fast. With the jaycar box you also can adjust the sensitivity of the unit along with the duration its open for. Or you could just use a switch, but that's boring. I'm planning on putting mine directly after a high flow cat (for off road use only ). I rekon you might have tuning troubles if you put it before the cat because of the oxygen sensor, being so close to atmo. Having said that if you had 2 seperate tunes, one for open one for closed it could work. But then whats the point of having an alectronic cutout you might as well have a block off plate. But hey I have been wrong before. I can't see anny reason why the muffler in my previous post can't be run in a similar way (off the TPS).
  12. Hello, I'm new to this forum. I saw something like this on ebay yesterday, From what I can deduce the system consists of 2 mufflers mounted side by side with a crossover between them, one of the mufflers has an electronic butterfly in the body. When the butterfly is closed all the exhaust gass is forced to flow through the one muffler when it is open it flows through both mufflers for less restriction (apparently variable too). At a glance it looks like it would be compatable with your XR6T's, however Unless there was a 3" version I couldent see a notable performance gain I'm not to sure if I can post the link, so just go to ebay and type in "Powerpro TWIN EEVC fully adjustable performance exhaust", or anny 2 of the above words should do it. I have been using this forum to do bit of research on the xr6T's, Lots of info (info overload) here, so yep. Thumbs up too all those contributing members. I Just have to wait untill a 6spd manual ute comes up for sale in my price range. Luke
