I wonder if Alex or Oyay could shed any light? (They aren't round here much these days but...) Definitely not a leak but. I had a leak in mine when I installed it, because the gasket sealer I used was too thin. It blew out straight away and made this awesome screeching noise as the air rushed through the gap. Had to take it all off again, clean it all up and install it with new sealer. Did the WD40 trick too to make sure it was all good.

It's definitely the plenum mate. Mine makes the exact same noise, it’s just the air rushing in as the TB opens. Stick your ear against the plenum and give it a little rev… I actually thought it was a problem too when I first heard it. I don't mind the sound, and it's nothing to worry about. Don't think you will be able to do anything about it anyway!

Doesn't sound like a cooler problem that's for sure! If the cooler wasn't that good it would just make the intake temps slightly higher than a "good" one. This could be the cause for the low power figure but it wouldn't be the cause of the surging. Surging is more likely to be fuel (or tune) related. I don't know your mods, but I would be looking at injectors and/or a pump before you go swapping the cooler over. Also make sure that all the vacuum lines and sensors are connected properly from when your cooler was fitted.

Welcome to 2009... Best to remove the filter all together or go aftermarket plumbing. It supplies oil to the turbo so if it does get blocked the turbo has an earth shattering kaaaboooom....

It’s not - easy, cheap, practical, won't give you awesome power or increased drivability, won't even look much good IMO.... What about twin turbo? Rubbish! I drive my 6sp manual every single day in traffic and do over 600 "non highway" kilometers a week and my average fuel is just on 13L/100! I can get as low as 9L/100 on the highway. I don't drive like a grandpa either. I'm not shy in giving it a hit! What kind of injectors are in it Dan? If they were setup for when you had the tune they would be dumping heaps of fuel in there now.

$500 a year! Fark! My plates cost a one off fee of $300 and I pay $0 a year!! Whoot! (Although I think this has since changed since I got mine - 7 yrs ago...)

Yeah, there is way too many different variables at play with something like this. It's like asking how much power will it get..... and how long is a piece of string? Both don't have the exact same power figure (I would be very surprised if they did) and works the same with the torque. Either way, it isn't anything to worry about.
