added to my favourites. ill visit it whenever I feel like getting depressed or freaked out

I reckon the wheel arches are too wide around the sides, that's what I think makes it a little odd. All I think it needs is the V8 bonnet bulge and the GT side skirts - then look out

Hi all, Just stumbled across this computerised pic of a BA chopped. I just looove that back end... looks very similar to the aston martin vanquish IMO anyway Got it off this site which has a few others, although not quite as good: http://www.trueblueford.com/BA_drawings.html

I used to think the most reliable way would be to use the hand-helds... that is until I was caught. There were about four cars behind me doing the same speed as me, and the cop woman pulls me over and hand signals the other cars behind to slow down. I was charged $150 for doing 65 in a 50 zone... which I can understand as being fair, but not when all the others get away with the exact same thing. And why didn't I see her in the fluro yellow jacket you ask? because she was hiding in the damn bus shelter and parked the car in the carpark at the church which was pretty full. grrr

Just an update... I decided to go for the F6 CAI, heck if its good enough for a stock 270kw engine its good enough for my n/a 6. Cost $103 inc. tax for the XR6T upper intake and the XR8 lower headlight snorkel, installation was simple. I have noticed a difference already, suprisingly more lower down in the revs, maybe because of less vacuum in the intake tube? The reason I chose this was because the air rammed in through the lower bar would just build pressure up under the headlight anyway, and I wouldn't have to worry about the dirt, water, etc. Also, for $100 you can't really go wrong

Ummm... WOW :banghead: All the effort you put into that has paid off

Yeah... I took mine to the car wash at BP after falling for their 'now more gentle on your car' (rap. dont believe it... scratches over everything but the glass. same with car lovers but a little better. thank god for Meguiars scratch X. either way nothing beats a hand wash with some rich sud car shampoo

Hi, I got the Maxxis MA-Z1's just the other day in exactly the same profile. I paid $255 each fitted and balanced. my opinion is that they are great for the price, but don't know how long they last yet. they're actually quite good in the wet I find, but that could just be me movin up from 215's. The pamphlet says that they are "maximum wearing". not sure if it means it wears out quickly or maximises tyre life. theyre quiet and you've gotta love the rim protection feature

I understand the whole insurance thing where you wouldn't worry about it because they will cover it. but it might be a write-off, in which case all the hard work spent on it goes down the drain, you just get a normal replacement which wont have everything. And then you don't know what they do in it. Perhaps a syringe in the drivers seat cushion, bodily fluids you dont wanna know in strange places - I guess it would be the thought of not knowing whats happened in it

Yikes! you know people are getting seriously low when they start taking advantage of others compassion and thoughtfulness

Speaking of which my aunty has a 2006 Saab convertible and about six months ago had someone try to hijack it we beieve. Her and my uncle were on the corner of Stock rd in spearwood stopped at a red light late at night on a friday. My uncle started driving off when the light went green, and at exactly that point in time, my aunty heard a sound like when you lift the door handle and release it quickly with a thud. the door was half open-shut, where it rattles loosely but doesn't actually open. also the interior light came on while they were driving off. Very scary. pays to lock your doors at night The value of a car is NEVER worth the pain of losing relatives, friends, etc. I completely agree Mat.

Total /120 ; the higher the score the better Mitsubishi 380 ES Sedan 74.5 Expensive Daewoo Late model camira Omega Sedan 74 Mitsubishi 380 (All except ES) Sedan 73 Chrysler 300C Sedan 67.5 Hyundai Grandeur Sedan 64 Toyota Aurion Sportivo ZR-6 Sedan 63 Ford BFII Falcon XT Sedan 57.5 Sourced from http://www.nrma.com.au/pub/nrma/motor/car-...ing/large.shtml I stumbled across this info and it got me thinking about what would happen if someone stole my car. I've also had a couple of nightmares about this happening. Considering that the above scores are out of 120, they're all below par anyway. I could just imagine going to the carpark after work and the car not there. Knowing that someone else is in YOUR car which You own and paid for and cared for would just me to tears. I think that because mine has bright orange GT stripes it would spot out so im pretty safe I think. But if it did happen I would call up the radio stations and tell them to tell the listners to look out for my car - that's bound to get results. What would you guys do and how do you feel about the whole stolen car thing???

Ford Set To Announce Future Of Geelong Engine Plant
AC's BA replied to f-wolf's topic in Ford Discussion
IMO Ford Australia management are screwing up. You dont **** off the australian public before the release of a new model car which Ford will be relying so heavily on cost cutting has purely short term effects, and means little when trying to GROW a business. they get a $25million incentive grant in 2005 only to use it against the public and outsource. -
so then its a go ahead 'More jobs at risk' from Ford closure Wednesday Jul 18 17:11 AEST Thousands more jobs could be at risk following Wednesday's announcement by Ford Australia that 600 workers will be sacked when the carmaker closes its Geelong engine plant. ACTU president Sharan Burrow warned as many as 3,000 additional jobs in and around the Victorian city were under threat from the flow-on effects of a downturn in the local car parts and services industries. "The prospect of major job cuts at Ford adds to substantial job losses at Expensive Daewoo over the past two years and thousands more jobs in the car components industry, which is heavily focused on Victoria," Ms Burrow said. Geelong's worst fears were realised with the confirmation that the engine plant will be closed in 2010. While the federal and Victorian governments and Ford will contribute to a $24 million fund to generate new jobs, there was little consolation for workers. Ford Australia president Tom Gorman said in a statement the closure will allow the company to achieve production efficiencies and access global economies of scale. Ford will cease manufacturing its locally-designed in-line, six cylinder engine, fitted to its Falcon and Territory range, replacing it with an imported V6. A downturn in large car sales and a planned cut in tariffs on imported cars from 10 per cent to five per cent in 2010 and tougher new car emissions standards, also due in 2010, prompted the Ford decision. "The Australian car market has fundamentally and permanently changed," Mr Gorman said in a statement. "Our new engine strategy is a direct response to the lower manufacturing levels of locally produced large vehicles." The new engine will be sourced from high volume US engine facilities expected to produce about one million engines a year by 2011, compared to the 70,000 a year at Geelong. Victorian Premier Steve Bracks described the job losses as "disturbing," and said his government will offer its support to workers hit hard at the car giant's Geelong plant. "We'll obviously stand by Ford workers and make sure we assist and support those workers if there is a change," Mr Bracks said. "We have invested in Ford and invested in new production, we've invested in making sure they can produce for a long term in this state and we'd be very disturbed to see of any job loss." Prime Minister John Howard denied Ford's problems were the result of government policies or the state of the economy. "It's a consequence of marketing reality and these decisions are made by companies from time to time," Mr Howard told reporters in Adelaide. "The good thing is the economy is strong and employment conditions are very good. "Therefore, the prospects of people finding alternative jobs, if they need to, are much brighter now than they were say 10 or 15 years ago." Opposition Leader Kevin Rudd says a federal Labor government would fast-track a review of the Australian automotive industry to ensure its long-term future. He said the Geelong plant closure was not only bad news for the affected employees, but also prompted grave concerns for the bigger picture of Australian manufacturing. "This is a terrible development for the workers at Ford in Geelong and the entire Geelong community," Mr Rudd said. "It's also a terrible development when it comes to the future of our automotive industry in Australia and the future of manufacturing more generally." ©AAP 2007 Their getting themselves into some deep if you ask me. that's an aussie car less aussie.

Well then... looks like I got ripped off! But at least it has well and truley paid itself off for the times I could do my own repairs and not take it elsewhere.

Na Fuel Efficiency And Km's Per Tank
AC's BA replied to INPURSUIT's topic in Ford 4.0L N/A Discussion
hi. I had exactly the same problem. I was averaging 14.6l/100km and own a BA XT auto. took it to ford and they said all tests came out fine. the following month I went for a trip down south - around 900k's in all and noticed a massive improvement. I had reset the computer figures before and after. during the trip it averaged 10.5l/100km, and now its averaging 11.6, and yes that's with the computers reset again. its about 450km+ easy per tank now. Most ppl I know say the same, so if all else fails hit the highway - I'd be very suprised if you dont notice a change. -
It may have 4500 pages, but just how much of that will be relevant? once you narrow it down to your engine (gas/petrol, size, na/T), transmission (auto/manual, 4sp, 5sp, 6sp), brakes, body (sedan/wagon/ute), model (BA or BF) and so on, it just doesnt seem quite as much. Ive got a BA workshop manual on a CD, its a tad over 1000 pages in PDF format, and while it covers most stuff, it misses out all the other useful stuff we wanna know. that cost me $30.

My car has the same problem, got it fixed under warranty... but barely lasted a fortnight, tried to repair it under warranty again and it didn't last so I just gave up. I have just learned to feed it back in every time I unbuckle the seatbelt - I admit it can really get annoying. had the same problem with my handbrake cover coming off all the time. when that was fixed under warranty they just sikaflexed it and it came straight apart again when it was out of warranty with black inside the cover. Grrrr. But I have noticed that it only seems to be the front seat belts that have the problem - perhaps overuse?

yeah, I thought about that. only 2 inches deep of the radiator is exposed in the bottom bar though. I mean look at the BA MK1 XT falcon, god knows how you get enough air through the bottom there but it all works out fine. I would put those air scoops that you get with the SS inductions kit except reversed, so this way the air in the top grille is forced downward across the radiator. in the FPV website gallery they have a pic of the GT's front grille close up and you can see just the very bottom of the radiator. if it seems a problem I could just mount it a little lower down anyway

Hi guys, I'm new to all this forum stuff... just joined the other day, so hello to everyone. I was just wondering if it is worth my time making a ram air intake for my car or not. It has a BF GT front bar, and I was thinking along the lines of fibreglassing a funnel-like structure which tapers off to a 3 inch pipe into the airbox. From the airbox to the throttle body is 3 inch piping already. It would take up the whole bottom mouth of the bar, and then the hose would join the fibreglass funnel under the radiator and run behind it up to the air box. Having the potential there and not tapping into it is annoying. I've tried to upload a pic of my car - about 6mnths old. So far I can see the Pros as the following: Increased fuel efficiency, increased response from pressure - the faster you go the better (like sticking your hand out the window at 100km/h just with 10X greater surface area, induction noise?, increased efficiency could make up for the loss in shorter diff ratio engine revs and fuel consumption (will be getting 3.9 or 3.73). Cons: quite some hassle making one from scratch, very low to the ground so may pick up lots of dirt, sand, and worrying in the wet if I hit a moderate puddle if the water is forced into the engine. Not sure what to do or if it is worth my time, haven't heard of anyone else doing this on a BA before and so have come to seek your professional opinion/suggestions/advice. Look forward to talking to all of you in the future (don't know how to use the icons yet, so smiley face goes here!) cheers, Adrian
