Thanks guys. Im really feeling at ease now that I have heard from some of the experts.... I'll block off the BOV on the weekend and try and get hold of an oil brether filter so I can get rid of the crossover. cant wait now!!
yeah my last post was poorly worded. what I mean is, in place of the crossover, would it be best to replace it with two sectioned pipes for the throttle body and turbo respectively??
So I guess I'll give it a go on the weekend. So is the idea is to remove the crossover all together, install my sectioned piping to renonnect the throttle and turbo seperatley?? I assume I will need to attach a filter in place of where the oil breather hose attaches to the crossover as well??
Car had been dyno'ed for a custom tune by C&V (Con is awesome!!!) did 250rwkw on 95 fuel. (I had put it in a couple of days before coz I was stuck!! ) What does AFR mean?? I never got the dyno slip, before anybody asks for it.
Thanks alot for all the input guys, very much appreciated. senna and tab - I assume that you both do not run BOV on your babies. can I also assume that you are running higher than normal boost levels on a daily basis?? I run an 8psi C&V custom tune for daily driving and a 10psi play tune. I think I will be ok to remove the BOV all together.
OK now its all making some sense to me. However, based on this information that, 'the turbo and slows the compressor opposite to the way it wants to spin', would that affect the performance or the longevity of the turbo??
Sounds like theres no clear answer on this subject. I have heard heaps of guys tell me the same thing senna has said. but then there is almost the same amount of guys that is against the idea of no BOV to allow air to escape.
Thanks for your help guys. If I get rid of the BOV doesnt that cause undue pressure on the turbo. I heard that the charged air is forced back onto the turbo coz it has no way of escaping as there is no BOV.
Hi Guys, Need some help. I want to remove the crossover from the top of the motor and replace it with a couple of 2.5" - 3" piping extensions in order to improve flow. What should I do with the BOV?? Is there a special section of pipe(that will have an allowance for the BOV) I can buy to replace that section?? All help welcome.
that's still quite a high figure for the boost its running. (it could be a freak car) my car put 265rwkw with 10psi custom tune. Granted, everything is stock on it. But I was told my figure was the most you could get. Either way, I suppose we should also answer his question about diff ratios. 4.11 perhaps??
I wonder if those tiny pin holes act as a resinator for the sound?? if so it would be creating drag and friction. It makes sense for it to be free flowin without them
I guess the if they attempt to make these vehicle lighter, it will only drive the cost upwards. Most likley the use of the more exotic materials would do this, come on Ford bring on the aluminium bonnet!!!
