The way I see it, he made up a whole lot of crap about my turbo thinking I'd be a sucker and say "ok just fix it and let me know how much it'll cost" but because I said I can't right now, he tuned it very bad and blamed it on the turbo so I could go back and tell him that I would like to fix the turbo. But when I called him and told him I wasn't happy with the tune, he had forgotten all the crap he spun and couldn't figure out why the tune was so sh*t
-
I want to say, but I cbf with all the backlash and the "he would never do that, he knows his sh*t" and blah blah And bigger injectors on stock tune = pathetic fuel consumption
-
I bet that 2.... Safe to say I'll never go back there again

Just an update on the situation guys, finally took the car back the other day. Seems as though I was bang on the money..... When I rang up to take my car back, I basically told him that I wasn't happy with the tune and that it felt quite stock. The tuner did not remember myself or the car to well, he told me to bring the car back because they warrant all their tunes. After an hour of leaving the car there he called me up and asked me it I took the car to another tuner at all because, are you ready for it????? The stock tune was set!!!! When I went to pick up the car he told me the car is running beautifully now and running 12-13psi with no mention of any turbo problems. How would u take that?

The 2.5k was spent on Xcal, f6 injectors and the turbo had to be removed because I had an exhaust leak. I am from sydney for those that have asked. I don't doubt the F6 injectors, in reference to my comment about being convinced to install the injectors... I was happy to just do the tune for better fuel consumption(that was my initial intentions upon first visit) and the tuner advised me of putting the injectors because it will get more power and the fuel consumption will be the same as not putting them. So I thought y not for an extra $500. But I got no power increase, so that's y I feel I was lead down the wrong track
-
I'll try and get this turbo checked out ASAP and go from there
-
Havnt got it retuned. Last time I spoke to the tuner he just shut me right down with out wanting to listen to what I had to say
-
Sorry guys, in the middle of moving houses and have no time to pull pipes off. And for those of you having a little dig at me, how would u feel if u got talked into fitting F6 injectors and promised all these results and your car feels no different but you have $2500 less in your wallet. I'm not kidding when I say I can't feel ANY power difference, and my fuel consumption is worst....

I'll try and make some time to get the cone off and get some photos. How about the oil on the turbo? That was definitely not there before. The thing is the owner didn't tune the car, some youngster tuned it
-
You see the reason that got me thinking was, he rang me and said "your fins r bent, I have this awesome turbo here to throw on and blah blah" just tried to make a sale straight away, then when I went in to pick up the car he tried selling me a comp wheel and I didn't like that. I've never really heard of a turbo not being able to boost any more because of bent fins. At a closer look now I'm Barely pushing 8psi....
-
I don't really want to bad mouth anyone. But it is one of the Bigger names. When I asked y the boost was so low he said it was too dangerous to boost anymore, said the turbo would go. I doubt that.... I was running more boost before the tune And he didn't tell me rwkw before hand, cause there was an exhaust leak when he first ran it and said it was quite low

Hey guys, just recently got a XCal and F6 injectors fitted to my FG XR6 Turbo and I am not really happy with the end result. I know numbers are just numbers but it just doesn't feel any different. Very little power increase, it got 260rwkw with only other mods being the XR8 air box and middle muffler removed. My boost gauge is only reading 8psi. The tuner told me that turbo had a couple of bent fins and when he dyno ran it on 12psi the turbo was "screaming"What are your thoughts on this? Also saw some oil coming out of the turbo as you can see in the pic I've attached.
-
sweet, thanks mate. Should trust what the tuner is telling you but sometimes its good to hear everyone elses experiences. what is the actual flow rate or size of the FG F6 injectors?
-
Hey guys, After 3 long years I've finally decided to tune my FG XR6 turbo. Now my question is what size injectors would u go for? I am only doing the tune, no dump or cat being changed as of yet. I may one day but not right now. I've done a bit of research and can't come up with the right answer. Some people are running 60lb and some 80lb. Had a little chat with the tuner and he said to just upgrade to the F6 injectors. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Well I finally got around to doing the exhaust, had a few busy weekends! And the end result is awesome, definitely not to loud! Idle is quiet, you can somewhat hear that it isnt the standard sound. When you accelerate a little at cruising speed you can hear a nice sharp note. To me it sounds like a quieter version of a skyline. What I ended up going for was just the 3" straight pipe that goes to one side of the muffler then there is a join that bends a little into the other side of the muffler. If you would like some pictures let me know and ill post. Over all it is the best $150 spent! Sounds great

Spoke to another exhaust shop today and he told me 150, the other guy obviously didn't want to do it. Should be getting it done on friday, so I will let you guys know how it sounds
-
did any of you guys put a resonator? or just do the pipe? I dont want it to be to loud like those N/A ones driving around
-
Hey guys, yes yes another centre muffler thread.... now im posting in the ute section for a reason, because I want to hear from UTE owners. Plenty of threads out there for sedans, but nothing really about the utes.... Now after reading all over the forums about the mod being $100 and blah blah I thought that sounded great, then I went to the exhaust shop and realised the Utes go from a single in to the muffler and come out double.... Now what have you guys done? Put in a Y Piece, single into twin? The exhaust shop quoted me $300 to do that all with flanges so I can drop the resonator if need be and place stock muffler back into place. Any comments, pictures and or videos would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Andrew

my main rattle seems to come from behind me. somewhere around the rear speakers. But I cant be sure, very hard to pinpoint it! annoys the crap out of me, anytime someone gets in the car and I have aircon on they always comment "whats that noise" grrr so annoying. and I also seem to have a big squeak in the suspension at low speed when I hit bumps or the surface is a little un-even
-
Hey guys, got an fg ute and when I have my air con on it will rattle inside the cab and really annoys the crap out of me. This a common problem and is it fixable? Cheers
-
haha no way, spewin! yeah it is a manual, ive tried to use the launch assist once on a provate rd and got big axle tramp, and im to scared to try again haha I did it with traction control off
-
hey Mick, sounds like a good result! I want to get my stock fg turbo ute out there to, 2 see what it can do Did you use the launch assist?

Hey guys! New to the forum just picked up my 08 Lightning Strike FG XR6T Ute last week and am loving it! I want to install a boost gauge in the car, ive had a look around on the forum about installing them but cant actually seem to find a thread that says where they ran the vacuum hose and power. I want to stick in the corner on the dash next to the pillar(not on the pillar) Can you run anything down that mirror demister? Any help would be gretly appreciated, pictures would be fantastic! Cheers!
