  5. Yes correct 60km/h convertor will lock in 3rd , .. oh and *Beep* just so you know ...yours did the same thing when stock and maybe now also unless Dion disabled it.

  7. You cant tell if its the tune as you cant see what theyve uploaded as per the trans tables. Mines going for 3 yrs ..alot of drag racing runs at Heathcote and Calder Park , plus the trans has done 89,000kms.... .....either the trans is not built up at all, or its in the tune, and make sure you have a decent aftermarket cooler. PS. If you want a 6 speed auto...sell yours and buy one with a 6 speed.

  12. My 4speed has been hassle free for 3 yrs... I'll be sticking with it unless im pushing well into the 400s
  13. correct. 3rd has a overdrive on it so im sitting about 2000rpm The trans builder told me so , so I stuck with it havnt had to rebuild it yet, whereas some others havnt lasted not half as long.

  15. 1st thing before anything is a transcooler.....heat is one of the major contributors to killing autos Theres only so much that can be done to these boxes but every little thing helps.... valve body mods, au planeteries and pump assy etc , but how you drive it I would say, helps in longevity also, some owners full throttle 4th gear which is a very big no no, also I change manually , I go through the gears like you would a manual, so 1st gear I take it to 2800-3000 same for 2nd and third, and for 4th I dont engage that until im doing a minimum of 80. Ive got a 2800 convertor in mine, so that's why I do it, if I dont then your just slipping through the gears and creating alot more heat in the trans. ps you dont have to change the oil every 3k, I service mine 2-3 times a yr, I do about 25-30000kms a yr in mine.
  16. Well theres no reason why a built 4 speed will not last on 350rwkw, mines still going after 3 years, and as for 6 speed auto, it is a expensive and fiddly conversion. There also will not be any guarantee that the 6 speed will outlast that power figure, I know of a few that have played up on that power figure, there not indestructible as a majority of people seem to think. The choice is yours which way you want to go, im just giving my personal experience.

Well heat is the main factor in transmissions failing, when u put a convertor in it, the convertor in fact creates alot more heat and that's the reason why it only lasted 5mnths, your auto builder should have told you this, or it was just that u didnt have the extra cash, either way this is what happens, learn from it and move on, id still stick with the 4 speed at 350 but if your going beyond that you can change the transmission to another type, but as a daily I would say driving quality will suffer, as will fuel economy. Keep us posted :-)
  18. A built 4 speed should last alot longer than that, mines lasted 3 years now and still going. Do u know what modifications has been done to the box.? Do u have a aftermarket transmission cooler fitted to the unit. Do u full throttle 4th gear?
  19. Well done Bozz, you will always see slightly less mph on better 60 ft run and lower et.

  21. yeh *Beep* cant make it as rods number 4 and 6 went through the block
  22. I knew of a couple of ppl taking off in second in the 4 speed auto and it was definately not in the tune itself.
