  2. If that stuff will do I can go and get it tomorrow. Found a supplier quite near to me so its just a case of popping down picking some up and jobs a good un Garrick
  3. I will, I'm slowly getting a big list of bits and bobs for the car (just got to work out how to pay for them :D) Thing is with the diff whine present I need to change the oil asap. Doing a little resarch I can get Redline 80w-140 and the friction modifier from them as well. I've seen it mentioned on here so might go with that just now untill I can get some stuff from down under. Garrick
  4. I'm originally from Edinburgh, I've got some family over on the west coast around Irvine area. Just now living down just outside London for my work, which is crap but the money is good so will do it for a little while longer then look into moving back north, I've been trying to get my ute up into the Highlands for some fun around the dodgy highland roads but its not happened yet. Garrick
  5. Ok I know there is a good How To at the top of the page and the actual job of changing the oil isn't too hard, but my problem is a little bit more complicated. As I said doing the job is a piece of piss but getting the oil is a little more difficult. Castrol what ever it is that is recommended in the How To isn't available over here in the UK so I've come up with a cunning plan and would like to sound it out with you guys before I did it. On the back of the Castrol bottle it says that it is suitable for various cars. Now Vauxhall import the Holden/HSV coupes into the country and sell them under the VXR8 brand. Sooooo...... would I be able to use the oil that Vx specify for the VXR8 in my ute's diff, I'm assuming they will have any additional additives as well if not already premixed. Failing that, would Jaguar stuff do? as it mentioned as well. I may be missing something and there is something basically flawed with my thinking but hopefully someone here might know. Cheers Garrick
  6. Cheers guys. I would have replied sooner but work and dodgy computer has left me in the lurch. I'd love to get an edit box for it and will look into it. I'm getting used to driving it over here and apart from being a lot bigger than a lot of cars over here it drive like a little car, its great Looks like its getting known around where I live as well. After dusting off a few tuned up ricers (scoobies mostly) they tend to leave me alone The only thing is I enjoy driving it too much and its starting to kill my wallet with the fuel costs I'm spending around £250 ($600) on avarage per month just going to work and its gone up to £500 (about $1200) when I've gone on trips or just gone for a burn, and when I've got a house to run as well it puts a serious dent in my Beer Tokens but I wouldn't change it for the world. Garrick
  7. Cheers mate will check out getting it done ASAP. Garrick
  8. What is needing done to the diff, stripdown and rebuild or just an oil change? Also what lubes for engines diffs etc. do you guys recommend? I'll do a search but thought I'll ask while I'm here. Garrick
  9. Cheers for the welcome and advice guys. I think I'll like it here Most places I go I get a lot of looks and I enjoy telling people about it, but it gets a little frustrating explaining for the nth time that its not Yank. I even had one old boy open my door just after I parked up and almost drag me out wanting to ask me about it. I'd love to get it on TopGear but at the minute I'm going through that precious stage with the car and every little mark or ding is noted with something close to horror I never imported the car, it was bought by a company director as a toy from a garage in QLD and imported by himself it was used in the last year mostly by his missus as a shopping cart. It only had about 8000 miles on the clock from 3 years ownership. Since I've had it for the last 4 weeks its done another 2000 miles The car is great for around here the only thing is that on wet days you need to be careful as the back end goes out to easily, which is fun when you want to but erm....... interesting if you are not expecting it Since I posted I've had an email back from a company over here that used to import Falcons to the UK and they say they can edit/flash/remap the ECU which also removes the restriction as well as gives more power, so will investigate that. One last question just now, at around 50mph and 59mpg 80-95km/h I get a hum from behind me, its only at those speeds. At first I thought it was a wheel bearing but after listening closely (and the fact that its only at those speeds makes me think its something else possibly the fuel pump as when I lift off the accelerator it stops, would this be right or am I likely to have a more serious problem? Cheers Garrick
  10. Hi Y'all and greetings from the UK. I've been lurking for a little while but finally got off my arse and decided to post. I lived and worked in Perth and Melbourne for a while back in 2005 and indulged my fetish for Aussie cars. Back in the UK it was a bit harder untill I bought this It's a bit of a silly buy for over here but I love it I am a total convert. I used to be a fan of Hol....... well wont mention it here but you know what I'm on about. It's just a shame the Ford UK doesn't support Aussie cars like Vauxhall does for Holdens Its totally standard BA mk1 XR6T with unfortunately an auto box, but over here its not as if I have a big choice, I am starting to like the auto but would have preferred the manual. I know there are one or two around over here but have yet to see one. I'm also trying to hunt down somewhere that might do parts so if there are any guys from the UK on here please get in touch, or if anyone knows a good supplier of parts and bits and bobs that would be able to post internationally please let me know. So a couple of questions to get me started. I'm under the impression that the older 4 speed auto is a little fragile for higher powered cars, does this mean that if I want to tune it up I will be limited with how much I can do? Also does anyone know if the cars are limited to 145 mph or around 230km/h? Cheers Garrick
