Looks like it may have been a combination of a few things... The Phoon pressure plate had heat stress points, but the clutch plates still looked ok to the eye. The CSC looked a bit daggy and the bearing was a bit "grindy" (gotta love technical phrases..) The flywheel and sandwich plate was perfect (brand new). Really couldn't see where the fault was, so I've replaced the whole lot. Couldn't bare to pull the thing out again... Now shifts like new, no noise, and no slip.

Replaced the whole lot. Clutch, flywheel, csc, llines. Perfect, all fixed.

Hey all, just an update. I'm hopefully going to pull the thing out within the next week or 10 days. Have a look and replace what I can with the dollares I've saved. When I get there, I'll come back with a report of what we found. Cheers, Karl

Hey Matt, Thanks for the continual feedback and advice. You may be onto something. Spoke to a ford-ish mechanic and he mentioned there is a trick to the phoon setup. He did say can't quiet remember what but he'll read up and get back to me. At the moment, the cars tucked away in the shed until I get enough dollars to source a new clutch. Don't want to go through the whole thing again without a new replacement. Also hoping to change over toan alloy csc whilst there. But unfortuantly, the cash is coming slow at the moment. Damn bills... Will keep you updated if/when I find something. Again thanks heaps. Karl

Hi Matte, In answer to your questions... what pressure plate do you have in there? - The whole "kit and kaboodle" is a F6 setup, clutch, pressure and flywheel. The ford pressure plates (not sure about the F6) have to be pre set, eg. compressed so the springs can lock in - Unsure what this means? help? Did you change the clutch yourself, or get someone else to do it? - I did iy myself with a mechanic looking over my sholder. A slab on a weekend for the hire of a hoist. Thanks for the advice. Will go and check the pressure plate setting in the manual and see what I need to do Cheers Karl

Hi all, Hoping someone may be able to offer some theories.. BA MK2, T56 and Phoon clutch. Gearbox is almost stuck in neutral, if I push the clutch in and try for first, the car moves forward, same for second, etc but won't actually go into gear, (almost like its sitting on the gate waiting to drop in). If I try for reverse, not a hope in hell, just won't go in. But if I stop the engine and the car rolls a bit, then I can select gears inc reverse. Also when the engine is running and I try, nothing will happen unless I give it a little rev, but as soon as I let the clutch out then back in and try to select a gear, no go unless the little rev. Have changed and bled the fluid and have replaced the oil in the box. Replaced the clutch a few weeks ago for slipping and hard gear selection, thought that might fix it, but it's just got worse... Any ideas gratefully accepted.. Thanks, Karl

F6 Gauges And Loom Into Xr6t - Where?
ottafish replied to ottafish's topic in Interior & Exterior Workshop
Aha... found out the answers I needed... Big fat NO... Oh well, next weekends job -
Apologies for this, probobly been asked before, but been searching for 3 days and nothing serious. I have a factory F6 twin pod gauage, loom and oil sender that I managed to piece together. What I really need to know is that supposedly the F6 loom plugs into the "Engine Sender Harness" , does this exist in the XR6T? I have wired the gauages with the factory loom, have power, now what. I'm assuming that the boost gauage will get it's info from the ECU (maybe?) as there's the sensor under the battery... The oil gauge I'm not to concerned about, but hey, if you know something, please let me know.... ANy help very much appreciated... THanks, Karl

Yep, thought that too.. The original one is rectangular in shape.. I've taken it and the original Ford unit to an upholster to make a new one up... Thanks Dags... I picked the Pod up from some great guy... But managed to get caught (by Mr Plod), while having some fun after I left you.... You know the dual lanes up past the quarries??

Hi all, Just thought I would post a few pics of the changes I made to the shifter on my XR6T. I found the Ford unit way to big and awkward to change smoothly, so attacked it with a lathe, tap and die. Also changed the surround to match the silver color and the FPV type boot. Any comments welcome.. Cheers, Karl

It would be nice if somebody who does actually have this type of thing working, if they could supply some details and drawings/pictures of exactly what they did. Also what pieces of equipment they use and if it's commercially available. I'm keen to get something like this working, and am looking into a mini dedicated PC (something I can install in under the dash) to run the software. Thanks....

Anybody??

Hi FPV Tranny, you still got the pod for sale? I'm keen to get one in asap.. Who ever heard of a turbo car without a oil gauge??? cheers, karl
