Hey guys, Just installed a UH-013 in my T a couple weeks ago. Head unit under the tissue box, just used double sided tape (which I normally try and avoid) but so far holding very well. (was a quick install, did the whole thing in a hour). I took power from the phone kit plug. It has earth and constant power as well as ignition. Will test output power when I get the antenna tuned and may consider running direct power to batt when needed. But it mainly gets used for the receive only option so for the moment it does the job. Also running the glass mount antenna. Have avoided these in previous cars, but I must say, so far am impressed. Have not transmitted as yet as it hasnt been tuned and I dont want to fry the unit. Audio is good through standard speaker but 100% better through a good extension speaker. No comparison to the UH-036 baby handhelds that I have, which are very hard to hear on the road. (clarity wise). Cheers, Michael...

I think I saw the same one fill up at Shell corner Dorset & Canterbury in Bayswater a few weeks ago....but didnt get to hear the note.... There is a non turbo getting around the area too with similar tail pipes.... Cheers, Michael..

BA_Turbs and I are planning to do a recce up around Lake Eildon for a cruise containing some interesting roads to allow some spirited driving. Not that there is anything wrong with a drive down the highway, this is the kind of cruise that interests us so we will check it out and post details for any others interested. Cheers, Michael...

I actually dont mind the new XR wheels. Illuminated window switches, second row centre armrest, premium sound standard on T and 8, AMEN. Michael...

Well, I've had my T for about 6 weeks, got it with 8000km on it with no hint of brake shudder. Have put 5000km on it and have now noticed the shudder, only at speeds over 80kph - particularly when driving "spirited" style.... Question - these shims people are talking about as part of the fix, what are they, where do they go, what do they do? Thanks, Michael...... (Signature updated accordingly)

Hi guys, Dont want to hijack this thread or start any interstate wars, but I think this one looks much better (hence the avatar) Michael....

I have seen these Neon things all over the shelves at Autobarn and JB Hifi, they must be popular given the amount of shelf space the get! I did notice though that most of them had warning stickers on the packs "do not fit to cars equipped with ABS Brakes" Any idea why?? I'd never put them under the car, but I have though that some small ones under the seats to illuminate the footwells front and rear would be cool...... Cheers, Michael...

There are some links to pics my brother took earlier in this thread. Havent had the film processed from the SLR Camera yet but when I do there should be some more good pics in that lot. Cheers, Michael...

Yeah the smell comes through the vents, but I normally have the temp set about half way, on feet and face - so its usually coolishair coming out at face level with the smell. The thought of some leaking aircon gas crossed my mind but have no idea if it would smell like that...... Michael..

Hey all, I have been experiencing a strange smell inside the cabin at somewhat specific times. If I am driving home from work, and I stop somewhere on the way home (like the shops) and stop the car, get back in and start up again a few minutes later, as I take off and accellerate down the road - I get a strong smell inside the cabin. The best way I can describe the smell is that its kinda like alchohol - like those alcohol wipes - in fact when my Land Rover got serviced, they would put an alcohol based additive to the washer fluid, and when I sprayed the washers on the windscreen, I got a similar smell to what this is in the cabin on the T. So, anyone else experience this? Any ideas? Anything to do with the Turbo? Cheers, Michael...

Awesome Miss Aly! Thanks again for your work in organising that.... No news reports in the paper of the Expensive Daewoo dealership being taken over??? Michael...

Dutchie, Mine are the UH036, half watt, so half the power of yours. I got them for a swap of some old 4WD gear - just to keep in the glovebox as spares, in case we are in a group of cars that dont have radios. Also use them around the Navy Cadet unit I run. The proper in car units are 4w and you can average around 10km depending on terrain & antenna etc., not using a repeater.... The little glass mount phone antenna that was on my rear window at the cruise wasnt actually a phone antenna, it's a UHF Antenna - in place ready for my UHF. Also come with a longer whip for better range. Can take photos on the weekend if you like. For the mobile phone kit antenna you can now also get units that have no external whip - just a box that sticks on the inside of the window. Got one of them too. So no need for an ugly UHF antenna on the outside of the car anymore, just go the glassmount that looks like a phone antenna. Feel free to ask any more questions you may have....also if you doa search I think the guys in NSW had a similar thread going... Cheers, Michael...

Some prototypes from Ford (if I remember correctly) were recently donated to the emergency services so they could be crushed with earthmoving equipment to resemble car wrecks. The emergency services then went to work with the jaws of life to test their recovery skills etc..... Years ago when they still made Nissans at Clayton, my old man worked there and I did a couple weeks work experience. There was a dumpyard for all the prototype cars - man it was fascinating, all these Japanese models to check out. Different departments would go and raid the dumpyard for a running prototype for them to use as their departmental car to drive around the factory......the dept I was working in had some kind of R30ish 4cyl Skyline from Japan, which I got to drive around the factory....(at 16 mind you) hehehe Cheers, Michael..

Guys, Just a note on the radios. I've had a UHF in the Land Rover (which is now im my office) and one in the wifes car (as that was my daily driver) and I recently aquired some of these tiny handhelds. Being used to the in car units, the quality of these little handhelds are certainly nowhere near that of the in car jobs. They do the job, but I struggled to hear things clearly over the road noise. There was always an in car unit on the way since day one for my T, just not there yet..... So the point to my post is, if you plan to do a few cruises and enjoy the radio communiation, save a few hundred $ and go for something like the GME TX3400 or Uniden UH-013, I have had both, and currently have a GME TX4400 in the house (from the 4WD). The little remote head units will fit neatly into the centre console or under the tissue holder. Will be adding a UH-013 to the T soon. Hooked up to a good quality extension speaker under the dash, you cant go wrong. Cheers, Michael...
