Yeah well didnt like the pics I saw of the FG, runout deal on the BF was too good to refuse, and a trip to the Motor Show to see the FG GT confirmed that I made the right choice....they have a lot of work to do to make the FG GT look aggressive enough to be a GT. It just doesnt at the moment.... Mick

Thanks! Hung around the city for ages after the motor show to get some decent shots of the new car....pretty happy with them.... Mick Yeah I will hang around, thanks.....you are right they are still the same car pretty much... Heres something I find funny. I must not have read my owners manual from the Turbo, but thought I better with the GT. For the last 4 years, every time we went to the drive ins, we would have to jamb my logbook in front of the ICC to stop the bright glare from annoying us while trying to watch the movie. Read the manual for the GT, and found out if you hold the volume button in for 3 seconds, it beeps and the screen turns off but the radio stays on. Classic huh..... Mick..

Thanks! Over on Ford Forums now. Yeah that's the window price...I am sure it will go a little cheaper than that.... Mick 302kw......another reason I went for it when I realised what I was getting...

Haha.....yeah OK......I'm still getting over the whiplash from booting it for the first time.....

LOL thanks Scotty....yeah the colour combo is very different, that's why I like it...I nearly went red with white stripes, but the Breeze and Gold really grew on me... Cheers Mick

Hey everyone, After nearly four years the XR6T is gone. What an awesome car.... There was no real reason to get rid of it other than the lease was up, and the opportunity to upgrade into this baby came up, so I took it: This forum has been a wealth of information. I have found another one to discuss my new baby, would you believe they have never heard of the footwell lights thing over there? We have GT drivers that have just found their empty globe holders after 4 years.....LOL Anyway thanks for all the info and advice over the years. If anyone is looking for a well looked after Blueprint XR6T, with 113k on the clock, Yarra Ranges Ford is selling her for $25,990.... Cheers, Mick.

No worries thanks Matt Mook

I have wanted to get these done for ages now, but never got around to it. A little while ago the drivers side switch started playing up, so I was glad I didnt get it modded as it would have voided warranty on the switch. I had the drivers side switch unit replaced under warranty - imagine my surprise when I turned the lights on that night and the switch lit up! I'm wondering if the unlit switches are no longer stocked - I think all the BF's are now illuminated? Now I just need to change out the other 3 doors. They might not be blue (they light up white) but much better than no lights at all! Mook..

Whine? Its not the turbo is it? :w00t: Welcome to the club.........2 years down the track and I still feel like I just bought it. Love it. Mook

Yeah I had a look on ebay and cant find anything for those side lights. Come to think of it I remember someone saying they used blue glass paint - I might try that, to get a richer blue from the bulbs. I also used to have blue led wedge globes in the footwell lights, but they hardly lit anything up, not bright enough. I just bought on ebay, wedge led globes, and they have 9 led's in each globe! I think they will be bright. I also picked up another blue led festoon. The one I have now has 3 or 4 leds in it. This one also has 9 leds in it - should be a tad brighter.

I got one of those blue LED festoons from Autobarn. Not very bright, but bright enough (just) to get in and out at night. Need any more light I turn the map lights on. Looks cool. Can you get blue LED versions for the rear side lights? I havent been able to find any,had to settle for the blue sleeves which arent as "blue"...

Does anyone still go to Friday night drags at Calder Park? I want to take my brother to check it out, would be good to see some of the members doing some runs..... Cheers, Michael.

Good to hear you were impressed with it Zap. Certainly sounds better than the XR8 6sp I drove. Cheers Michael

Thanks for posting Michael. Your report is the first negative one l have read which is good, if this box was as good as l have read everywhere it would be a miracle. Wonder why you found it so bad though? Could have been a bad one, doesnt seem like a step forward if that's how it performs in manual mode. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Was that actually in manual mode or just in "D"? The 8's are a different beast to the T's with an auto, but for someone to say that it was terrible doesn't instill much faith. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No it was in "D" mode. that's how I drive my T 99% of the time and enjoy very crisp / sharp / solid gear changes. The BF 6spd was very different. I was hoping to get in the T they had there but that never happened. This XR8 has probably had a life of thrashing - it was certainly getting thrashed this day. I'm hoping it was just a bad one, although my last car was a Series 2 Landrover Discovery V8 which also uses the ZF Auto Trans. That certainly didnt have sharp gear changes either - driving normally you would call them smooth, hammering it you would call them sloppy or hesitant. I will wait to drive a couple more before I make my mind up though. Will no doubt end up with one in a Territory when we get one for the Mrs in a couple of years... Cheers Michael.

Hi all, Been a while off here but thought I would chime in on this one. Got to drive a BF XR8 with the ZF 6 speed auto around sandown the other week. My findings: - V8 sounds great - That bulge looks big from inside - I honestly felt that my stock XR6T was faster - I liked the look and feel of the auto shifter, its like a short shift - when you flick it to the left it doesnt end up far over on an angle like the 4 speed. It's cool how the drive letters light up red too. BUT - hammering the car around the course - the shifts between gears were TERRIBLE. My 4spd T shifts really short and sharp, no hesitation. The 6spd hesitated between gears, and you could feel yourself slow down before it changed up a gear. It did not feel solid, sharp or sporty like my 4spd. I dont know if I just got a bad one - but I didnt like it. Or maybe it was because it was the V8, I dont know. Didnt get a chance to drive the BF XR6T there so couldnt compare - but was happy to get back in my T to drive home. Cheers Michael.
