    When It Rans

Buy a new suction cup, that's what I did. I've had the g-tech for years and the suction cup had gone all hard and wouldn't stick, bought a new cup (couple of bucks from any auto store) and all good now.
  3. A number of reasons, once been to drags once, my car is a a manual, I was in full street trim with street tyres at 36 psi etc, the wagon on that day was 1908 kg with me etc. Don't look at the time, look at the MPH I got, 120 mph, good for a low-mid 11 with traction. I no longer have 350 rwkw, have to update my website. I now have a 427 (7 litre) with a small cam making 320 rwkw, but a mountain more torque every where, 860-915 nm across the entire rev range.
  4. Someone's got to stir the pot occasionally A stallie, as is diff gears, is still un-opened, as the motor hasn't been touched. Both vehicles make good gains with little mods. Of course anything with FI is easy to get power out of, it's just a simple matter of upping boost a little, as long as everything else can cope. But there comes a point where you need to change stuff also as the factory normally doesn't give you much room to move on injectors, fuel pumps etc.
  5. lol - yeah, right. A 7 litre (427) makes 320 rwkw with a 226 cam, approx 350-370 rwkw with a cam in the 240's, and 400 rwkw+ with a big cam. Add a blower and get anything from 600+. In case you hadn't noticed, they are 5.7 litres stock. Why would any ones jaw drop for 258 rwkw? Un-opened LS1's have been doing that for ages. There are 3 or 4 un-opened LS1's with 270 odd rwkw pulling 11's, current record being 11.73 I think it was. You guys crack me up.
  6. I know my wagon's power varies depending on what tyres I run. Same 17" stock wheels with sticky tyres lost 10-15rwkw over the standard factory tyres (same day, same dyno- just a quick tyre change). Been told by a few shops that the type of tyre affects the power reading (can't tell youthe technical reasons why) and from what I've seen it does.
  7. Geea, you might also want to consider the Toyo Proxies, a lot of Mexican cars are running them with good results (I have them on my car too). http://www.toyo.com.au/RA-1%20Page.htm
  8. Thanks mate, you got me Not sure if it was that run or not, might have been one of my launches where I was smoking through 1st, 2nd, 3rd and into 4th!! (not good for times - too eager to beat the T beside me maybe). At least next time I go, I know how to launch - and more importantly how not to!
  9. It's not reflective of his car or ability, it's more the trans. All manuals I saw on the day (even holdens) weren't doing big numbers. I did a 12.2 in a manual, first time ever at the drags Must admit though, my times were all over the place, 5 runs in the 12's, 4 x 13's, 1 x 15. I was trying a different launch technique each run to see what worked with my car.
  10. Thanks mate, but she ain't blown no more, she's stroked I was happy with my 12.2 at 119.9 mph. Bummer my clutch went just before lunch, really wanted an 11 out of her in full street trim.
  11. It was a great day, you could basically have as many runs as you liked. The only Ford guy I met was ducatijb I think. Certainly takes lots of practice to get consistent!!
  12. I thought all the radar stuff was done by the vans now in ACT, didn't realise the boys in blue still did that here. I haven't seen a police radar for years it seems like, but see the vans all the time.
  13. My boss has a brand new Subaru GT wagon, which has 1/3 of my cars power ATW. We took it on a high speed run down a dirt road up the Snowy Mountains and damn those things handle on the dirt. Don't know how the AWD Magna would compare, but a normal RWD car wouldn't stand a chance (not that you'd get me driving there in the first place). It is a silly ad as far as they state that the SS/XR8 would likely come off at the first corner. Makes me laugh.
  14. In my car, put on a set on 42lb injectors (stock are about 29lb I think) and the car wouldn't idle, ran like a pig, they nearly had to push it to the dyno to retune it. If this product is anywhere near the same as LS1 edit, you guys are in for a treat when it's released!
  15. I have a StreetPilot 2610, it's fully portable, sits on my dash and is a great little unit. I'd be lost without it
  16. Great time there Geea, well done. Would be nice to have a dragway in Canberra. I think you'd find he'd run faster in Melb though - the 600m altitude here robs a bit of power. From LS1 dyno days I've seen anything around 10% loss compared to Syd/Mel figures.
  17. My car should be running down Calder in 2-3 weeks after my new motor goes in. Keep an eye out for a red SS wagon Just got word that Matt from G&D Performance ran 10.56 at 138mph in his blown LS1. Wish I was there to see that!
  18. geea, yep I've got an intercooled Vortech running at 9psi. We had a Canberra cruise today and the car was getting pretty well hammered for 1.5 hours, and the temps didn't go above 20c, but I was too busy trying to stay on the road to watch the temp LCD too much It may be that your stock intercooler isn't big enough. Highest temp my car has reached was 27c sitting in peak hour, generally between 8-15c at the moment in the cool temps.
  19. geea, as you know I have the same thing fitted. Interestingly, my temps don't rise when I give it a bootful, if anything they drop. Altho totally different cars, and it's freezing here in ACT! At the moment I can cruise around < 10c, but if I stop at traffic lights for a while I get 5-10c more, and I can never get back to the original low temp. Also, do you notice that after you stop the car the temp skyrockets? Even if I stop at 10c, within a couple of minutes it's 40c odd. But as soon as you start it, the temps drop right back down.
  20. I have been having a discussion with others about various cars in this thread, I have been asked questions and had the chance to respond.
  21. The LS1 that won the show with 700+ rwhp was not built for huge HP. It's a 6.3 litre stroker which for starters is designed to increase *bottom* end power/torque, not top end. That car has a conservative setup for reliability for daily driving durability. Sure he could wind up the wick to 20 psi or whatever and pump out an extra 100 hp (or more) and get the same (or more) bhp/litre as the stats above, but that's not what he's trying to achieve. The only reason you have to build a motor is because the LS1 didn't come from the factory built to withstand FI, unlike the XR6T.
  22. Thanks Glenn. I think what he might have meant is RWHP is roughly equal to FWKW. Eg the GTS at 300 kw fly has about 300 rwhp when dynoed. It's a rough guide but should be somewhere in the ballpark. My car standard when dyoned got 245 rwhp and is supposed to be 235 fwkw.
  23. He has a stroker motor, 6.3 litre I believe. He has several threads over on ls1.com.au about his car/motor etc. A stroker tends to improve low end power/torque more than top end, although of course the blower makes up for the top end Here's his initial thread: http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=20678 There have been cars pushing close to 400 rwkw with totally stock internals and 11 psi boost. They are pretty strong as stock. There was a car on Autospeed a few weeks back claiming 480 rwkw or so with stock internals (apart from heads/cam)on 9 psi boost.
  24. Yes, comparisons will be made, but it is the *way* that you did it. You're entitled to your opinion, but it's the Gen III, Gen IV hasn't been released yet. The car at the Holden/Ford show that got 675 rwhp yesterday (500rwkw) was running 15psi boost.
  25. Do you think I give a toss what figures another type of car gets with similar boost? I'm not into those "mine is bigger than yours" types of things, although it sounds like you are. And I think you'll find the stage III APS kit runs 15-18psi boost to get 330 rwkw or so. The stage I ups boost to 9 psi and gives about 225 rwkw or so.
