  1. Should I be offended? This makes my HgAg with chrome pin striping and standard ride height the ugliest car on the forum. Hmmm...always thought those avalons looked nice. Issues you say.... In any case, if anyone wants to see a pic with the pin striping (as per fairmont etc) let me know and I'll post a pic of my . FWIW, I'd keep the spoiler.
  2. I also have a clinker! Put it in reverse, wait the obligatory second and start reversing with the steering wheel turned about half way to full lock (when reversing into my car park at work). No incline but clink clink....... I thought it may have been coming from one of the rear wheels but diff or tranny is a possibility. Doesn't do it all the time but can't say I can link it to any sort of driving style. It is different to the shunt or clunk I sometimes get when accelerating from slow speeds or the thump I sometimes get when moving the gear lever from park to reverse or the 2-3 shift in SSS mode. Shunt, clunk, thump, clink The $900 for premium sound is a cheap insurance policy for my sanity. Only 7K to go for the 30K service.
  3. I have had a noise in the rear parcel shelf area for the past 6 months. Sounds very much like when a small stone gets flicked up into the underbody of the car (best I can describe it). Notice it most often going into driveways or when turning a corner or roundabout or sometimes when just driving on uneven road surfaces. After 3 attempts, my dealer has found that a weld joint had not taken too well under the parcel shelf and repaired it (must find out what day of the week my car was built.....). For the next 4-5 days, blissful silent driving. It has since returned. I have no doubt it is what my dealer mentioned as I would hear this noise at least 5-6 times daily from just normal driving. Need to get them to fix it properly this time. :banghead: Only other thing that I've had that may cause a similar problem was a fuel breather hose that was tapping against the rear quarter panel. Good luck finding it. These things can be bloody annoying and I'm not one for just turning up the volume and ignoring them.
  4. They say everyone has a twin. Painful lease paperwork, first new car and options that sound familiar.... Enjoy.
  5. Houston....we have a problem. 27.7lt per 100? I get half that!
  6. After driving around for over 2 months with vibrations at cruising speeds, my T has been cured. Dealer replaced the front tyres after 20,000 kays due to supposed flatspots and this achieved nothing. In desperation I went to a Bob Jane outlet who took all of 20 seconds with my right front on the balancer to find the problem - Ford took the Blue Oval logo one step too far when they gave me an oval rim for my T. Has now been replaced no questions asked and what do you know.....
  7. Had mine done yesterday. No issues yet but can't comment on the effectiveness of any stalling fixes. Certainly feel as though the gear changes in SSS mode (especially the downshifts) are better. Any changes that you know of Fordtech?
  8. Are the guys who man the stands at the motorshow usually on the money? Was told there will be no auto initially, only a manual. If we are to believe that 550nm is too much for current autos, how close to the limit are the auto's in the 520nm GT's?? FWIW, I liked the rims (but nasty to clean), didn't think much of the mesh grills.
  9. Not an uncommon event unfortunately. Wore an increase myself.
  10. Maybe someone should drop Drive a line r.e. FPV's distinct lack of involvement in Skylines..........
  11. I think you'll find that the decent looking brakes in these shots are in fact the optional Brembo's. I assume the "standard" brakes will be as per GT. Talk about torque!
  12. XR logo on Leather Interior.
  13. Mine has developed exactly the same condition in the last week after being silent for the first 18,000 kays.
  14. My car ran vibration free for the first 15000K. After the service and a tyre rotation - instant vibration over 80kmph. After rebalancing and aligning, my dealer has told me my tyres are the cause. 4 weeks later they ring me and tell me I have to wait another 2 weeks for a dunlop rep to OK the replacement. Customer service.......?? Considering this vibration began immediately after a rotation, the dealer may (I hope) be on the right track. Now to get dunlop to come to the party....
  15. I think this thread has bought up an interesting point regarding the level of quality we should expect in our vehicles. I have been surprised by the response I have received from my dealer when I mention minor issues like rattles, squeaks, intermittent thumps etc. The impression I get is like "what's the big deal?". It actually got me thinking....do people just put up with this stuff and accept it? Am I just being too fussy? I have come to this conclusion - if you are not happy with any aspect of your car that is not performing to spec then demand a fix. If we all accepted pinholes in plastics etc then how can we expect Ford to improve quality? Speak up and be heard and don't settle for the "it's a falcon" line.

    Advice Needed

As for the whole more megapixels is better thing, decide on how big you're likely to print these images first. For standard sized photos, a 2 megapixel would probably suffice. I have an A series canon and am very happy with it. Good Luck
  17. I'll add a couple from my collection. I have a few that I must have gone crazy with the res settings on - bigger than the 1000K allowed for attachments. I knew there was a reason I asked my boss for a larger HDD.
  18. What are they going to remove/replace that could result in this huge weight saving and keep the price of the car under 100K?
  19. Same here. I was actually going to bring up the time it takes to engage reverse with the dealer but it seems like mines the norm.
  20. Well after getting it balanced twice you kinda have to start looking elsewhere. The SP3000's have been known to flat spot when cold (mind you mine don't get better after driving) and the sidewall cracks are also an issue (no sign of this with mine). I've been lucky enough to not have to engage the ABS on any surface and don't pull handbrake turns so I agree that this flat spotting is hard to explain. In any case, I can't really complain if the dealer offers to replace them gratis (not flog them to me).
  21. Tyres rotated at 15K and persistent vibrations since. Has been diagnosed as flat spots on the front tyres. Dealer is going to ring me on Tuesday but anything less than 2 new hoops ain't going to cut it. These SP3000's are getting a reputation and it isn't all good. Had every intention of replacing them with another set but not sure at this point. Wear is actually not too bad and with the current set I would have expected 35-40K out of them.
  22. This is interesting. After filling up, I was waiting for a mate to get back in the car so went to turn the radio on. I turned the key too far and instead of stopping at ACC, turned it to ON (dash lit up as it does before it starts) but I didn't start the engine. I then turned the key back to ACC for the radio. Prior to my mate getting back in the car, I had turned the ignition OFF again. I then started her up and noticed the fuel gauge problem........ Almost certain this was the first time I had done this after filling up so maybe it's possible there is something in this? BTW, The car was filled up with the ignition OFF.
  23. Almost at 17K and mine has just done this today for the first time. Filled it up and have only driven about 10 kays but the fuel gauge is showing just above 1/4 (was getting close to empty when I filled it). Lucky I'm going to my dealer for another issue on Friday - can add this to the list.
  24. Happens on a fairly consistent basis to me also. After a few minutes of not taking the bait they usually charge off ahead to show me that their Suzuki really is quicker. They must have read all the HgAg bagging on here and think they are a chance. I won't lie - I do dream of the road ahead magically changing to a 100 zone and planting it but it never seems to happen. Not worth the fuel really.
