    Audio

Haven't ordered as yet (damn I will get my test drive first! but I'll get the premium audio for the same reason - in dash stacker.
  2. I believe Strapp are delivering their first this week as well.

Sounds familiar DZ. Not entirely sure about the leather (how hot will it get?/ongoing maintenance). My wife ain't wrapped in the cloth patterns but the Plexis Grey is not as overt as some of the other colours so that may get the nod. At this stage, still undecided. Anyone cornered in a BA with leather that can comment?

Don't start me on these Turbo demos..... But if you did in fact drive one, when where how etc would be appreciated. I am still very unsure about ordering without driving one.

    Xr6 Review

Have done some further digging re fuel consumption. Figures I have received from someone who has driven (tested) a manual sedan and auto ute in both city and highway cycles are as follows: City: 13.8l/100km Highway: 10.8l/100km Please keep in mind that there was apparently very little tyre frying activity. The issue with Ford not presenting details on this appears to be related to the fact that the fuel consumption figures have to be on a vehicle on show - not necessarily in print media. I certainly haven't seen any turbo's in a showroom so thus, no stickers on windscreens to read. Anyone seen a delivered turbo and notice if anything was posted on the windscreen? Which leads me to another point - 450nm@2000rpm is great but any ideas on how tyre wear will be affected??
  6. Slowly but surely.... Saw my first silhouette XR6 this week. All indications are that we'll be seeing many, many more.
  7. Good news, but interestingly, the XR8 still appears to have the "one or the other" rule applying. Any thoughts why?

Hmmmm...not happy about that at all - especially the relative silence from Ford about this. In short, I order a car 5-6 weeks after its initial release and already I'm paying more? I could understand if they said all '03 badged vehicles will incur the rise but many delivered early Jan will be '02 badged - not fair really. That being the case, I'll just wait till Jan so I can test drive. I was willing to lose the test drive if an order this year saved me the grand but happy to hang on.

Not yet but expecting Feb 03, so it should be a 03 build :D Tint RRP is about $500 but if you haggle it will be less. A mate of mine is getting his tint for $275.00 Thanks - one more question. Any sign of this supposed price hike?

$26.00 per week! Wish I had that much in the novated budget to get the figure down that far. Looks like a little more coming out of my pocket but I'm sure it'll be worth it. Any word on a delivery date? I assume that anyone ordering now will have an '03 badged car? On the tint, does anyone have an approx figure for how much dealers charge?
  11. Has this price rise been made official? Great timing for someone wanting to place an order in Jan - ME! Not what I wanted as the budget is being stretched far enough....... On an auto XR6 T, that's around $800. If this is true, then obviously the prices on release were purely a very temporary filler. Out for a month and already a rise? I guess the initial launch has been a huge success so those of us with our hearts set on one will probably fork out. Not nice, but smart.
  12. Premium also adds a subwoofer neatly installed in the rear parcel shelf and according to the sales guy "possibly another couple of tweeters". The power ratings appear to be a bit cloudy.
  13. This being the case, then I assume the TC/LSD combination is also available in the auto? I definitely have an early article stating this but since the brochure arrived, I've been thinking one or the other. One of the few downers if we can't have both really. As far as I know, metallic paint is a $255 option. This may have happened after the last minute pricing alteration that was rumoured to have occured.
  14. If I do purchase one, I'll be running it on PULP unless I'm forced otherwise by availabilty. It's the reviews showing 16.5l/100km that concern me but as stated, the "warp speed" trip is the major factor. As for the price difference, Shell have been selling Optimax for up to 8.5 cents a litre higher than ULP. I have seen this first hand. Considering the price difference on release of Optimax was 6 cents, it is certainly going against the trend of "It'll come down when it gets more popular". Obviously not selling much. I think PULP is actually 95 RON and above so I realise Optimax is not the only option but I may be locked into using Shell via a fuel card. I'd be happy to average the 13.8l/100km achieved by the TS50.

Any idea if that red Turbo at Strapp is still there? When did you see it?
  16. Anyone know? I realise when looking at this type of vehicle that I maybe shouldn't care but it will be my first high performance car and it is playing on my mind a little (not to mention they type of fuel it likes). I haven't seen any official figures yet I thought all new cars had to display this information. Some of the things I have read (wheels & the RACV tests) have painted it as a fair guzzler. BTW, this board is a great source of info. If only we knew the truth behind the traction/LSD issue.......
