Well I was there and I for one think it was a brilliant peice of engineering.Hats off to you Macka. Not only was it superbly manufactured but it actually serves a purpose and its not just some "bolt me on" decoration. Speaking of bolt ons did anyone see the fairlane in the carpark with the body filler front spoiler??(Yes that's right guys.An entire front spoiler made wholey of bog). Maybe that's what Adamx6rt was talking about. Congrats to all that had their cars on show.Good to see a group of guys that are proud to display their toys.
DO NOT ,under any circumstances, try and adjust your idle using what looks like an idle adjuster.IT I'SNT. It is your default throttle plate position set screw and will break if tampered with. And you guessed it,"You break it,you own it".
tupperware, I'm curious to know whether the WDS displays your vehicle's VIN number after it has identified your vehicle?(after reflashing your factory settings back into the PCM). The reason I ask this is because a couple of guys I have spoken to regarding these EDIT devices inform me that when you flash the edit program into the PCM it erase's the VID block. This is the part of the PCM that stores the information regarding fuel mapping. It also stores identification data about your vehicle(diff ratio, speed control(cruise),& VIN). If it does erase the VIN number then that would indicate to the technician that the PCM has been reflashed incorrectly. If you could find this out for me it would be appreciated. FORDTECH
could we just get someone on here who has a typhoon to buy one for us? at $1200 it's a bargain!! I can hear the parts bloke now; "and what are you going to do with 20 intercoolers sir?"
Scootre, The dealer puts in a request for a replacement ICC assy via the Dealer Communication Centre and lists the fault with the original unit in the request. They are then sent a complete "change over" assy. They then contact the customer to have it fitted. The vehicle actually wont run without the ICC assy in the vehicle.
Seems rather odd that they would release so much detail about a secretly developed engine that wont be introduced for over 2 years. One would think that the opposition would have the same amount of time to launch a counter attack based on the advanced warning.
The BA series "upgrade" will be introduced in the third quarter of 2004 in conjunction with the release of the TS Territory. The Typhoon is due for release in the final quarter of 2004.
Can the REX system be added at a later date after the car has been built? Yep its a dealer fit accessory. What he said. The whole kit cost $2840 and I installed it myself.Takes about 2-3 hours and the instructions are quite easy to follow. The only thing is that you need good quality tools(electrical crimpers and a decent pop riveter).
I have a Ford REX system that I fitted to mine and if you've got kids they're a must.Have seen a lot of non genuine units that look tacky so I went with the genuine kit because it fits a lot neater.Plus the genuine one intergrates alot easier to the car wiring and audio system.
Dr Z, There isn't a TSB for this procedure.Every fortnight all Ford dealer Service advisors and Master tech's are supposed to veiw what is called Tech Talk.It is a broadcast via the FORDSTAR in house training network that all Ford dealers have at their dealerships. The broadcasts cover service related topics such as the plug regap procedure. Most of these procedures are still being assessed at time of broadcast as to their effectiveness.Once they have had positive feedback from dealers that they are working then the procedures are put into print(TSB's)and distributed to the dealer network. What your service advisor says seems right though. If you arent experiancing this problem and they are happy that your gremlins have been sorted out then there is no real need to carry out the regapping.Wouldn't hurt though. UBYTE, To be honest I have N F I who makes them. For some reason the word Champion comes to mind, but dont quote me on that.
It's called a Boost Pressure Sensor and is mounted in the aluminium duct between the intercooler and the throttle body inlet tube.(Between the RH headlight and Battery)
