  1. If your discs were machined around Sept/Oct or before that last year the chances of it reoccuring are pretty good. The new level shim was released in Oct last year but the machining was mainly being done by sub contractors who's machines werent calibrated to the tolerances expected by the Ford machining procedure. Also the machines that are being used by all ford dealers now has a specially manufactured adapter hub for it. As for the rotors getting too thin,I've machined the same vehicle 4 times and it still has plenty of thickness left.
  2. The information regarding what the calibrations do is delivered to the dealer network via Fordstar broadcasts which dont resume until February. The discs themselves are sent from the US and aren't supplied with any details regarding their contents. These new calibrations are for the entire BA range of vehicles and possibly for all the imported models as well. As for the new cals "de-tuning" your beasts,I strongly doubt that. But then again who knows :banghead: xr6ikness,Yes you should be able to reflash even those fitted with Unichips. The Unichip is a stand alone component that doesnt actually comunicate with the WDS so it shouldnt be a problem(If in doubt, take it out) One thing I must point out though, when I had the WDS plugged into 100%'s ute at Heathcote it had trouble actually identifying the original PCM in his vehicle when I selected Module Identification from the diagnostic menu.
  3. OK Guys,Santa came today with a nice 2 disc set of updated calibrations for your vehicles. So it's HO HO HO off to the dealer you go and to all good luck.(I'm assuming that every other dealer got theirs as well) No info on what the calibrations do or what the original problem was/is but these new cal's supposedly fix it. Let us know how you all go.
  4. Dont send his asailant to jail.Put him in the Australian cricket team clubroom and see how he likes his own medicine.
  5. Just out of curiosity, you wouldn't happen to have a bonnet protector on your car would you???
  6. The bulletin regarding this was never released. It was a subject that was shown on one of the Fordstar broadcasts and at that stage they were deciding wether or not to release it.What it is is where the 3 main body panels meet inside the LH inner guard on the "A" pillar (Roughly near the top door hinge area)when the body flex's you get a loud Tapping/Creaking/Rattling sound. The main reason is because the spot welds in that area were too far apart. This was rectified quite awhile ago in production so if your car is only 4 weeks old I would be surprised if this was the problem. One thing you might want to check yourself is,in the LH side at the very rear corner of the engine bay, locate the canister purge solenoid(if you know what it looks like)and make sure it isn't actually resting against the firewall or the strut tower. They only operate at cruise speed and if it's resting against the body they can rattle pretty loud and give you the impression that it's coming from inside the car. Hope this helps.
  7. Looks like even the dealer is feeding you a load of crap as well. First problem:-If you reconnect the battery while the ignition is in the accessory position the display on the ICC will display this. All you have to do is cycle the ignition all the way off then to the on position. If this doesnt work you disconnect the battery, make sure the ignition is in the off position then reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on and the display will breifly display SECURITY ERROR then go to normal display and the car will start. The only other thing it could've done is forgotten the trained keys. This only involves a Key retrain procedure for the BEM not a PCM reflash. Second problem:-If the SRS on the vehicle didn't deploy in the accident there is no need to replace any of the components in the whole system. The only reason most places replace them is to make extra money from the job.Because they are safety devices the insurance companies can't argue.Sounds to me like they damaged the system themselves and they're trying to make the insurance company pay for thier stuff up.
  8. FamiliaXR6T, PM me with the details of the problems that you are experiencing and I'll see if I can give you some ammunition to take to your next visit. From what I've read there are a couple of existing issues that have been mentioned that your dealer should be aware of.
  9. yeah mate the two front ones did I heard they are about $1000 each to fix Make sure the panel shop check the seat belt pretensioners as well.If the air bags have deployed so would have the pretensioners.
  10. I stand corrected.(still suffering heat stroke)
  11. Sounded great with the Zorst straight out too.Pitty your times were slower with it running straight out.Did it seem any different?? Also 100%'s best time was 13.17.Impressive.(Would love to see it on a cool day) P.S Love the stripes.Looks neat.
  12. I erased the codes while I was there but didnt have a chance to recheck if they had returned after he had done a couple more runs.Didnt want to hassle him too much. Was appreciative enough that he let me look in the first place.Judging by the times he was doing the chances of the codes reappearing were pretty good.
  13. What he said. It's for the Sat Nav DVD Player.
  14. Thanks for your response Peter. The reason I posted this info is because a lot of post I have read in the past are from people that are worried about warranty issues when fitting these sort of things.Even though they arent directly detectable the codes that are logged can indicate something is abnormal.Plus it's the first oppertunity I've had to check out this type of instalation. To be honest I'm quite impressed in the simplicity and neatness of the whole set up.It's a credit to your company.
  15. After attending a drag meet today and being given the oppertunity to hook a WDS to an XR6T with a stage 2 APS kit (Thanks to 100% for the donor vehicle ) the results were good. The kit itself was very unobtrusive and the only real noticable thing in the engine bay (and it isn't that easy to see) was the fuel pump mounted to the LH chassis rail and the intake duct on the air cleaner(and that's only noticable because the original is gone). The injectors themself dont look any different than the originals. The Unichip itself is hidden well and takes a bit of effort to find. All in all it's a very impressive modification. However, and this is where the dealers may be able to figure things aren't quite kosher, the codes that I retrieved with the WDS point toward some sort of modification. The 3 codes that were retrieved were to do with excessive fuel pressure, excessive exhaust emissions and turbo wastegate management interference. While the codes dont leap out and say there is a severe modification on the particular vehicle, with a bit of diagnosing and a thorough search of the vehicle would soon show them up.So for some people to sit back and say that these things are not detectable, they're right. But the variables in the diagnostic codes says otherwise. Food for thought.
  16. 2 questions 1. Why? 2. How? 2 answers: 1/Taxi(so the passengers cant walk around and rip the driver out) 2/Using WDS.
  17. You can also have the interior unlock button reset so that when the car is locked while you are in it and push the unlock button all doors except the drivers door unlock.
  18. PhantomXR6Turbo, Just curious as to whether the Air Bags deployed or not??
  19. Something for you guys to check yourselves.Had one today with an irratic idle and a leaking radiator. When I went to replace the radiator I discovered that you have to move the intercooler to access one of the air cond condensor bolts. Some wally had fitted the hose clamp to the intercooler hose upside down so I had to remove the right hand headlight assy and found that the earth wire's that are secured under the aluminium tube under the battery were loose. So I tightened them up and finished fitting the radiator. When I started the car up again it idled spot on.An easy way to find the wires I'm talking about.Look down between the RH headlight and the battery(Where the boost pressure sensor is)and the earth wires should be secured under the bolt that holds the aluminium tube. Hope this helps.
  20. Be careful man. The sooky bubba know-it alls from Ford will get upset. Its not there fault, lol. HEY FORD - CARS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO STALL - HELLOOOOOOO. ANYONE OUT THERE???????? KNOCK! KNOCK! Now you wouldnt be refering to me would you????
  21. Unfortunately Santa didnt bring the new PCM calibrations that are supposed to address this problem. It is a known problem that is rectifiable by reflashing the PCM but the calibrations are still in transit (so to speak) and waiting certification.I also dont exactly know what the actual problem is so am unable to comment. From what I've heard around the traps is something to do with the canister purge and the fuel tank vent system flooding the engine on idle down causing them to stall. If you look on the PCM in the engine bay they should have either attached a label with the calibration number on it or written on the body of the PCM itself. The latest calibration numbers are: Vehicles manufactured before 13th June the last letter of the PCM part number should be "H". Vehicles manufactured after 13th June the last letter of the PCM part number should be "B"
  22. I believe this to be the case & that power levels that are being talked of are 280-300kw. The Targa car had a bigger intercooler, what else it had different I don't know. Bloan, I actually got a look at the developement vehicle they were using for testing before fitting the extra bits for the targa cars. The figures they reckon it had were nothing like that.
  23. I'm sorry,but I take offence to this.We're not all complete idiots.
  24. teebone, No it's not just the trans shift programing that is monitored and changed.Remember your instrument cluster accesses the fuel mapping info from the PCM to adjust your DTE and you would have noticed this changes quite frequently. So the PCM is constantly adapting to your driving style frequently. The performance auto mode references the same set of look up tables in the PCM that all the other shift modes use so yes it is.
  25. Series 2 BA Turbo, 250kw FPV BA Turbo,270kw But this is also a rumour.(Albeit alot more feasable)
