  1. G'day owna , We are currently looking at making a number of these special tools so that our dealers interstate can change the valve springs without removing the cylinder head. I hope that the tool will be available in approx 4 weeks. :hiwelcome: Peter APS Hey Peter,Why make the tool when they are redily available to buy.I'll check out the part number if you like and let you know.
  2. In a word,Yes.
  3. An update on the newest cal's guy's.They're sitting at FOMOCO waiting for the instalation procedure to be finalised and should start being shipped by the end of this week. These are the calibration's to fix the irratic idle and stalling. If you've been told that your vehicle has been updated to these cal's,take it back and tell them to do it properly.
  4. According to roadworthy regulations it is illegal to have the brake light in the spoiler and the rear window operating together. Don't know the reasoning behind the rule.
  5. Sorry to inform you guy's but I'm curious to know what calibrations your dealers are using. At this present point in time the updated calibrations haven't even left FOMOCO.
  6. Ask your dealer to swap the complete boot lid with another vehicle that hasn't got a wing. That way you can avoid having to paint anything. Regarding the high level brake light, the original rear window lamp should still be there.Simply get them to put a globe in it.
  7. In the photo you have shown it actually looks like the bar sticks out too far.The Haymen Reese bars that we fit at our dealership have to have the pin inserted from the inside of the bumper.
  8. Will be there looking for FordXR6Turbo.com stickers and try to put faces to names.
  9. :hiwelcome: ME.I am absolutely shattered.Gonna need therapy after seeing that.that's disgracefull.Get up em and make them tidy it up.If they won't then I'll be up your way in about 7 weeks and I'll fix it myself.
  10. It's extremely common.FIIK why they do it though.Nearly every one that I've driven does it.Will do some investigating and see what I can come up with.
  11. If your getting a ute try and get it factory fitted. That way the hole that is cut is finished off a lot better.See if alxr6t can get you a photo of his to have a look at.
  12. One thing to keep your eyes on guys is to make sure the lock nuts are fitted when you get a vehicle that comes from the factory with 18"wheels.What they're doing now is not actually fitting them at the factory and sending the lock nuts out with the car in the small parts kit for the dealers to fit during pre delivery. So you can guess whats been happening to them.
  13. Time for some enlightenment regarding the BA heater/ac system. The light mist that comes from the vents will only appear on days of high humidity when the a/c is on and the vent is set to fresh instead of recirc.Whist the a/c is using fresh air from outside the vehicle the system will run continuously due to the fact that as far as the a/c thermostat is concerned the air inside the vehicle isn't getting any colder because it isn't being drawn in from inside the vehicle. So to prevent this from happening simply run the a/c on recirc. The a/c system actually dries the air,it doesnt create moisture unless it's using humidity out of the external air. The drain on the BA is directly above the transmission and usually gets blocked with a slymy substance not leaves. If you drop your glove compartment down and have a look at you heater unit you will see a door that houses the pollen filter if fitted. If you dont have a pollen filter then there is a mesh grille there to prevent outside debris from entering the heater assy.
  14. Chances of all 4 Wheel speed sensor's sh*tting themselves simultaneously are pretty slim.
  15. It will disable the Anti lock function of the brake system but will still read the signals from the wheel speed sensors. Dunno about you but not having the ABS system working and doing these sort of speed's is not my idea of fun. Each to their own I suppose.
  16. From the ABS wheel speed sensors.
  17. Your dealer is sort of telling the truth(for a change). The concern is that the steering column's have been assembled with what Ford call a sub standard bearing fitted to the base of the column.Over time the bearing begins to litterally chew itself apart.Replacing the whole steering column is the only way to rectify this problem.I'm pretty sure that they arent going to recall any vehicles at this stage but they are releasing a TSB to cover this issue. Before anybody starts flaming me,I only supply the information so dont blame me. As for the steering shudder, seems strange that it only happens when you turn left. Can honestly say that I haven't come accross that. They either shudder all the time either way or they don't shudder at all.One thing you could try is to raise the vehicle so both front wheels are off the ground. Then turn the steering from lock to lock 40 times and see if that makes a difference. One thing to remember when doing this is to make sure the reservoir cap is "On",and dont undo it after this procedure either. Sorry I couldn't be more help FORDTECH
  18. Well you're on the right track but there are a lot more variables that come into the equation. You are right in saying that the PCM determines the length of the injector pulse but the injector size doesnt matter(I know....it's that old size arguement). If the injector is bigger then the PCM simply doesn't open it for as long. The point I'm trying to make is that the HEGO sensor is the main influence on the information that is used to calculate the fuel usage for the trip meter. It's the main thing that measures the end result of all the PCM's calculations. The actual display is processed by the Instrument Cluster Module using information supplied via the CAN Bus from the PCM.
  19. So you obviously know a fair bit about the workings of the BA's. It's really not that simple.
  20. The PCM doesnt measure the duty cycle,it controls it.Even if you fit the bigger injectors you still have this thing called a HEGO (Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen) sensor in the exhaust that tells the PCM whats coming out the other end.The PCM will then adjust the fuel trim to whatever the vehicle inputs are telling it to do.
  21. Have to agree with WBT65.There is sweet FA diference in the head design between the 2.The main machining difference is that the GT cylinder head has marginally longer valve stems to accomodate for the extra cam lift. The valves are also reprofiled at the valve base for optimum gas flow.I'm also privy to all bulletins and documents sent out to Ford dealers regarding these sort of matters and havent seen the said document.
  22. The speed limiter is preset in the PCM on a part that is known as the VID block(Vehicle Identification Data). This contains 5 peices of vital information.1/Speed/Cruise control 2/Speed limiter 3/VIN number 4/Fuel octane rating 5/Rear Axle Ratio/Wheel & Tyre size. There is a way of reflashing the PCM using a WDS machine where the VIN number and Speed limiter are permanently removed. Because the VIN number is removed it is very easy to tell if this type of reflash has been done. Basically no VIN=No warranty and a real kick up the arse for the dealer that reflashed it.
  23. Same rotor,Different caliper. What benny say's is pretty well on the money.
  24. Here Here.Couldn't have said it better myself.
  25. It's called revenue.
