  5. As far as better program, it all depends on what you want from it.. WMP (windows media player) is basic, not allowing many controls an advanced user may want.. winamp is ok, good level of control and file manipulation, but in my experience is very system intensive Itunes, while not being the best, of the free players is my recommendation, and choice for use most of the time. A few things to think about / tips, when using itunes. 1) under Edit - Preferences - Advanced. Select the keep itunes media folder organised, and copy files to .. when adding to library this will let itunes better organise your music, so that when you want to find and copy files for a friend, it'll be better organised. Some compilations when added will be split into artist folders, not an individual album folder, thus files are split... 2) When adding new files into itunes, create a new playlist called "new" (or whatever you like), add the files into here.. If the file has missing tag information (ie, album, album artist, artist) it is a lot easier to find them in a small playlist than the entire album. (I currently have 20,000+ songs in my itunes library, it takes a lot of scrolling to find something mis-tagged). 3) with some compilations downloaded from the interweb the files have the artist and album tags right, but are not tagged as part of a compilation, and will therefore appear split. this can be done by selecting all the album, right clicking, 'get info', click options tab, and ensure 'Part of a compilation' is set to yes.
  6. Mine sits near the heater/ac fan control, as in the pic.. the unit has text to speech, so it tells me "in 100m turn left, main st" etc etc... all hardwired into the back of cig lighter
  7. Alpine Vehicle Hub Pro This is one option, and I'm sure this is what was seen on youtube.. just make sure you get the high speed ipod adapter, as its faster than the gen 1 model.
  8. Not sure if its a mercury switch, but if you remove the ICC, definitely dont tip it over.. it freezes the unit.. Its pretty easy to remove though, just remember to remove the 4 plugs at the bottom in the correct order.. cant for the life of me remember which way it is though.

    New Albums

AC/DC has a new one out, Black Ice.. Its pretty sweet.. I love Rock and Roll Train, the first song on the album.. for other albums, theres also TV on the Radio Staind Seether Megadeath - its an anthology, best of, but still good. I currently have about 30 days worth of continuous music.. never know what your in the mood for.
  10. Brett, already having had a previous GPS unit stolen through leaving the suction cup holder "circle" mark on the windscreen (I always took the holder off the screen when not in car), I have located mine here... Like you, I drive manual, so the tissue box area wasn't an option, plus it was a little to low and you had to stretch to reach the unit.. Located where it is, I can reach it easily, and with the text-to-speech option, it tells me street names, (ie in 100m turn right in Pitt st) so I don't need to look at it. Hope this helps, inspires. Phil

    Warranty

I'm with senna T, take it back to the place you bought it from.. If its still under Ford factory warranty, they should be nice enough to organise it all for you, the dealer that I got my car from is not Ford and have organised all my services, warranty issues.
  12. Very nice man.. like the look... was it hard to change??
  13. I have a carputer setup, which I would like to run independant of the main power, to prevent from flat battery syndrome, and to allow the system to stay running irregardless of whether the car is running or not.. Would love the 2nd battery to charge while car is running, I know this can be done, but want to find out as much as I can before I can go down this path...
  14. Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has installed a dual battery setup?? Pics, info welcome. Cheers
  15. Adam, Love the system, looks the part.. Am venturing down the same path as you with the VGA to CGA converter. Just curious, what did you use to change the cars 12v power to the 5v required for the converter? or are you just running it on the 12v from car power???
