Yep the premium sound is an embarrassment, that was the last straw that caused me to get the regular T. The premium sound does not even come close to the system in our Hyundai Elantra. The Hyundai only cost us 20K new and comes with an ipod connection for free. I can't believe ford charges nearly $200 for one in the Ghia. Surely you should at least get an ipod connection for the extra 15K when buying a Ghia.

The wife wanted a Terriorty, yep as per the previous post, don't take your family car shopping, well at least we got a turbo. To be honest I think it will actually be faster arround Sydney than the XR6T being up high and being able to go over the bumps and dips without slowing down to a crawl. I still would of preferred another XR6T. What mods have people been able to get away with under warrenty. Is the bung removal obvious? If not any idea who could do it, I am not really handy with the tools myself. I would love an edit but I am guessing it will void the warrenty?

that's why I was suggesting the dual fuel approach, a lot of people dont travel more than 50 kms a day. When you get home you hook it up to the compressor. If you do you run on petrol. The CNG van I travelled in in LA had a decent range and the tank did not seem that big.

Anyone looked into running and XR6T or a territory T on CNG. I like bigger fast cars but care about the environment. Petrol is getting more and more expensive and has a significant contribution to green house gasses. It breaks my heart to see the lack of foresight by the Government and people in General ( I guess that includes me). I would hate to see the solution be small aluminium hybrids. Another thing I dislike about petrol is more and more of it is coming from the Middle East and directly or indirectly filling the pockets of terrorist. Lets not forget where Bin Laden got his money. I would rather power my car from home grown natural gas. LPG is not the answer really. It helps but its a petroleum by product and is not that much greener than petrol or diesel. CNG appears to be the most greenest fuel about, except for hydrogen and if filled with a compressor from the gas pipe at home will workout to less than 1/5 of the cost of petrol. If we got our act together we could run our ford turbos cheaper than a Pirus with a lesser or similar green house gas effect. What I like about natural gas is that it has an octane rating of 130. You could have a high compression engine and still run lots of boost. I would love to see a CNG kit for the ford turbos. Given the availability, I would say it would have to be dual fuel with petrol because about the only place you will find it is via a compressor at home. I would guess you would have to increase the compression to get the best from CNG, reduce boost (on petrol) and specify 100% octane fuel when running on petrol.

With a lot of prompting from my wife I have just gone over to the dark side and we have purchased a 4wd. Anybody got any suggestions as to who is giving good deals on insurance for over 35s on the turbo territory?

Nice car, I would love to have a 6 Speed Manual, instead of that over geared 4 speed auto I have now. -
I live in Sydney's East so I park where ever I can, one can't afford to be too picky in this neck of the woods.

Based on a fairmont Ghia I had 2 years ago I would give the Premium sound about 8 out 10. Great for playing music and plenty loud enough, but not capable of competing with the ricers on a cruise into Brighton. The standard XR6T stereo sucks. It lacks both volume and quality 3 out of 10. I have ordered the Premium on my next car. Its best not to give Ford an excuse for not fixing things under Warranty by installing a stereo yourself.

Anybody got the new factory bluetooth car kit for the falcon/XR6. Is it any good?

I know my company have a lot of fleet XR6Ts going up for auction now in the fleet sales, from what I am told by others you can expect to buy back your 2 year old stock XR6T for less than 25K with warranty. At least in my company no one seems to thrash theirs all that much and only get them because the lease cost is only marginally more than that for an XT.

Yes and look for premium or prestige sound, the base XR6T sound system is very ordinary. 28k seems a little steep for a BA with 45000km. Otherwise it seems a nice car. A lot of BFs should be coming up at the Fleet auctions soon. Most of these are not really thrashed as you would expect and have 1 year warranty or more to allow you to get the bugs out before modification or flashing.

I say wait or get a 6 speed manual. I have a 4sp auto and its first gear ratio is way too high. If you want really quick take off from the lights forget it. With a 4 sp auto you will have trouble getting past a honda civic VTI, unless you have room to get well past 70kph. On the open road it is fine. I am getting a new one with a 6 speed auto soon, can't wait.
