  5. It may not be all bad news - Noble cars get 455bhp from the twin turbo duratec motor so it should move the new lighter falcon .
  6. The XR4 sierra was sold in the U.k in the early eighties with a 2.8 V6 , latter updated to the 2.9 injected V6 . A four wheel drive version was also sold badged as the XR4x4 I in the late eighties with the 2.9 V6 and also the 2 litre dohc engine ( sh*t). The V6 4x4 had a great following after turbo technics developed a twin turbo conversion , a great alternative to the cosworth. The XR2 was the peformance Fiesta. The XR3 was the escort based version. I take it this model is equall to our Fiesta st wich has a 2 litre n/a duratec motor.
  7. Do you know what boost it is running now??? Could have dirt jamming the valve open and running boost to high. chris
  8. Have piped wastegate actuator to compressor housing with a bleed valve inbetween to get back to 7/8 psi. Temporary fix until I can get it into tuners
  9. Just wondering - seeing as traction is a problem - Has any body ever tried to convert a falcon to 4 wheel drive???????????? Possibly using stronger sierra cosworth running gear or maybe skyline . Territory maybe in a few years time , or is it just going to make a heavy car even worse?
  10. The plazmaman kit seems to be great quality - finish of the intercooler is excellent. Fitting wasn't quite as easy as I thought , getting the lower brackets to line up was hard due to the air con pipe in the way. Didn't want to bend it to much but it all fitted after a few small bends at a time. Being the temperature over here was never going to give me heat soak issues I chose this more to get better air flow and clear any intake restrictions. I also swopped the battery over to the other side so plazmaman removed the cross over replacement pipe from the kit and I had the intake pipe to join pod filter to turbo + air box. My local tuner has been looking into becoming a dealer for Dreamscience ( capa flash units) so hopefully I will remove the unichip and go down that route with an edit , but I will have to get him to tune it with the unichip just to make sure we can get rid of the overboost problem before I spend out to much money on other things. I fitted a KN breather to the rocker cover as I didnt want to pipe it back down to the intake pipe- I guess strictly speaking not legal as it is not a closed circuit any more.
  11. Ok HELP needed.. Finished fitting the intercooler kit and pod filter etc , and also fitted a boost gauge . A quick roadtest showed up a massive overboost problem ( 20 psi ) , car was originally set up to run 8psi on unichip . I thought it might be running a bit more boost before I get it tuned correctly but not that much !!!!!!!!!! I have removed boost solenoid and cleaned it and checked operation- all ok - but no change. I have piped the wastegate actuator directly from the compressor housing ( bypass the solenoid ) and it ran 5psi with no overboost problem.. I havent cut out centre muffler yet but guess this would make overboost worse with less back pressure.? I cant get the car into tuners for 10 days so anybody got any ideas??????????? Is this normal after a intercooler and piping change - guess the plazmaman kit is very free flowing. PLEASE HELP. chris
  12. Just noticed a couple of exhausts on ebay au Item number: 270125163755 are these any good as it seems very good value. May be worth replacing before tune if they will ship for me. X - force systems also advertised on there are they better ??????????
  13. Thanks for all the info so far I had a look at the injectors and they are a pale blue colour - what size are these and how far will they limit me. Are the gearboxes usually ok as long as I take it steady in first / second , its only for road use no drag strip action!! If I have got to start thinking of clutch upgrades what is best for road use , and approx how much??? I spent 2 years living in new zealand so when returning to the uk decided to take the car with me as I new it would cause a bit of interest. ( trouble is some idiots ask if its a holden)). Gets loads of looks and is a great talking point , and definatly surprises a few people with the performance. Getting parts can be a pain as nobody seems interested in sorting out shipping -- Plazmaman being the exception with Alex being great in sorting things out for me How is top speed on theese things limited ( 260 kph ????) , I havent got mine over 220 so far but hopefully will take it to germany next year to open it up fully and dont want a limiter spoiling the fun Sorry for all the questions - but cant exactly ask the lads down the local !!!!!!!!!!! chris
  14. I have a 2003 turbo manual and its about to go into my local tuners to be remapped after a intercooler and pipes swap ( plazmaman stg 1 ). The car was previously running a phase 1 aps kit ( unichip and injectors ) and valve spring replacement at only 8psi giving 247rwkw. I have now fitted the plazmaman intercooler kit and swopped the battery to the passenger side with a pod filter fitted. Exhaust centre section being swapped to straight pipe. I am going to get it remapped by my local tuner who is a unichip agent but he has never seen one of these cars before so is there any thing to watch out for when tuning ???. I know the unichip isnt the best these days , but being the only other tuner in the UK is SCT who wernt helpfull and are a long way from me , I want to stick with a tuner I know and trust . Also how much power can I expect , and is safe with stock rods etc. I was going to get boost raised to 10psi but I still have stock fuel pump and aps phase 1 injectors . Any thoughts greatly appreciated chris
  15. Everyone seems to have missed the most obvious defence - they caught you in a Holden!!!!! Obviously couldnt of accelerated to hard or fast.
