  3. first tip is to take out the a/c condensor (trust me) so the piping doesnt get in the way. you can probably do it with it in but mine was damaged. you only have to drill the top 2 holes, the bottom brackets line up. After you drill these 2 holes , fit the intercooler to the brackets and force it to the left and the brackets will flex across. Take the intercooler out and replace condensor and refit. Fitting it this way and forcing it across is the only way to ensure it fits and the holes line up at least with the bottom brackets, leaving only the 2 to drill. its a bit tricky but I have no pics sorry...
  4. Just thought I'd let you guys know, that this issue has now been resolved at another dealer. I was told that this was a faulty internal switch and can't be broken through excessive force. As usual, these guys were only too happy to help me. They replaced the power steering rack while they were at it. Nothing like good help. Well I can tell you how hard they are on brakes, I had no rotors left when I bought it, and the front left had nothing left on it. The tyres were bald, the steering was shot, the gear lever switch not allowing manual gear changes, no hand brake, the exhaust had more hits than elvis etc etc. To think these clowns are running around our streets in cars that are not even roadworthy. There is not a chance it would have passed rego if I was chasing a pink slip. I can't begin to tell you how bad the rotors were honestly. Now everything is replaced and new, and is driving like new. I knew id have a few things to do but I didn't think there would be so much. Anyway im a happy camper now. Just got back from beautiful QLD and the car needs a wash. Have a top day!!
  5. Yea mate I did misunderstand you and it all makes perfect sense now, my apologies. Yes the dealer is the source of the problem, but I haven't found ford care to be much more helpful to be honest. I'll be in QLD later in the week and will talk to the dealer I use to use up there and see what they can do. Cheers!
  6. Exactly EGOXRT. In the past few years I have owned an EF XR6, a series 1 and a series 2 XR8, a 2002 BA - T, and the Mrs and I stupidly bought 2 new FPV GT's in 2004. Now in a BF turbo, the excuses are all the same and I have heard them all before. Before I sold the GT, I went to this dealer for several warranty items that FPV specifically co-ordinated through the dealer and when I picked the car up again I was told nothing was wrong. The following week I took it to Gregory's in Canberra and a $5000 warranty service was done no question. My wife's GT had 3 gearboxes replaced and a plethra of other problems that were never rectified. My battery was given faulty charge by a dodgy alternator and the acid led to rust which started eating away the chassis of my 6 month old $62000 GT and they did nothing to help. It was repaired 3 times and they still couldn't get it all. The first repair they simply used an orange glue to cover the area and screwed the rusted screws back into the chassis without replacing them. And before that I was even given the excuse the paint would not be covered as I was not the original owner. I had to supply my FPV ID's and SIDO and even then they didn't believe me. Over all I had over 11 grand of warranty spent on mine, the Mrs totalled $5000 plus however much the 3 boxes cost them. My gripe is not a swipe in the dark, as I have endured their crap for years. I fought for every dollar ever spent on these cars, which is why I brought this up as I hear the same old story each time I go. Apparently filthy driveline, gearbox and diff noises are normal, but you find out about all that later as you said. The reason I do suffer the dealer is because I love the cars, they are awesome but surely you should be able to rely on the dealer when the time comes. I have never heard of fraudulent warranty claims before as I am completely aware what will and will not be covered under warranty. The one thing at least this time they could fault the problem so at least I know what is wrong.
  7. Thanks mate but I have pretty much accepted that I will cop this. I was driving it home from Sydney and flicked it over to see how the adaptive shift worked, but it kept slipping back a gear so I left it in drive and booked the dealer as soon as I got home. I assumed that it was an internal gearbox issue or it simply needed a service. I have since been told that the ZF has no schedule servicing at all. Also interesting to me is that Ford now specify a 15/40 LPG oil for the BF turbo, to help cope with the higher temperatures. I fail to see how 13fraud helps me after day 2 of ownership however in stock trim, the car hadn't been registered in my name at that time so guess whocame up as the owner??? NSW police!
  8. I totally understand. I know very little about the new ZF's operation and went in there asking if there was something I was doing wrong? Its the fact I have had so little help from this dealer in the past its not funny, as to why I question the decision. I was told in an old xr8 au2 I had there was nothing wrong with the diff I had enquired about. I moved to QLD and took it for regular service and was phoned to say that the car would not be ready before the weekend as it needed a new diff. Now that is service!
  9. With it being an ex highway car it must void it then? I was told these boxes are near unbreakable so didnt worry about its previous stint. My good friend is in highway patrol and said that he and others rarely used the manual mode, it was predominantly left in performance mode. I take that 13fraud incinuates I made a fraudulent claim to warranty with NSW police service stickers on the log books? My gripe is that I believe it to be a warranty repair and hoped that it would, but not being a mechanic doesn't entitle me to question the dealer and discuss this publicly? Hence the question I put to the forum as to what suggestions they may have and if something similar may have happened to them?
  10. As for me I have only had it 3 weeks so no whacks from me, I can't even use it. However I am at a loss as to how someone could be so hard on such a simple shift. There are no physical signs of any damage to warrant such a wack... You'd be impressed with a quick shift from 2nd to 3rd and the gearstick landing in your lap wouldn't you? I doubt you would expect to get shafted on your warranty repair too.
  11. I wondered when someone would ask. No the mods have all happened this week so she was stock to the order when it went back. I figure it would take a fair whack to break so why not admit to the faulty part, replace it and move on?
  12. LMAO - right now I'd start with a tyre swap and work from there... that's the best thing I have heard all day!
  13. They told me it was excessive force but this is not stated on the receipt. For now I just wanted my car fixed as they had it 4 days and I have only had it for going on 3 weeks. I was going to take this up with Fair trade as I am tired of their crap. The Mrs bought a T in Dec 02. We had it 12 months and sold it the day it ran out of rego and it had 26000 kms on the clock. In that time, we had the gearbox and diff replaced, a/c compressor, p steer pump, computer, seat bracket and drink cup holders replaced. there was not one item we didn't fight for as they would say over and over there was no fault. In the end I had to get my uncle who owns his own repco repair centre, to come and take the service manager for a drive to fault the gearbox and diff. Bottom line is I am just over arguing with them and hoped that it would just get fixed. At least it is documented now as I am nearly out of warranty, so I will have another crack elsewhere. Cheers
  14. What brand of intercooler did you buy? Looks a lot like mine..
  15. Although I am having issues with the auto shift in my BF, which is just a faulty mechanism in the lever, I recommend the 6spd box. I had only 1 condition on buying a T, and that was this box. The 4 spd auto and 5 spd manual in the BA are good for around 350kw at the fly, but problems will arise if you push the envelope. And lets be honest, after a few mods you will be past this figure anyway. If you can afford it then buy it.
  16. The problem I have is that where I live, the same group owns all the Ford dealerships. I have been to Sydney in the past with only slightly more success. Fact is, I had to drive to Gregory's in Canberra to have the warranty issues addressed with my previous car. BTW, they are a switched on lot there and I can't praise there work enough. This dealer retensioned the front end as I asked them to look at a clunk in the steering. I was charged $55. Then I took it back as the clunk was still there, and it was found there was a faulty power steering pump which they replaced. Has anyone been charged for retensioning loose suspension under warranty? Looks like another trip to Canberra... I'll have a little fun on the way too!
  17. Hay there guys. This would be my first post and am wondering what your thoughts are on a dilem- ma I am faced with. I have a BF turbo, with 6spd auto and am loving being back in the familiar seat. However, the auto shift is not working so I have to drive it in standard 'D' mode. I took it back for warranty and was told that I need a new lever as the micro switch has been broken through excessive force. I am quite annoyed as I have yet to use the adaptive shift since I bought it second hand. Basically Ford have left me to pay the $740 fitted for a new one and charged me $192 to find this fault in the first place. Last year I sold my pride and joy through being sick and tired of warranty arguements with the dealer (2004 FPV GT), and am travelling again along the same road. Any suggestions?
