I like PM's, let me have it!

Well.. you have to check these things :D Yeah I think I got about 3 days of running at 10psi before it slipped. Went brilliantly though.. I'll enjoy it when I get the new clutch in. Bit of a bugger though, Ford's cars have always stood up very well to mods in the past. Now my new tyres will have to wait that little bit longer.

Yeah I think I'll go option 2, it's not like I'm going to go doing this car up or tracking it. It's a daily driver for work, just an entertaining one.
-
Hmm. so I guess the Mal Wood option 2 is for me then. It was slipping on the 8psi tune as well in 6th so I'm certainly going to need a new clutch next month.. I use the car to visit clients and need it to work so I'll go back to stock for a while and get the clutch done later. Bloody ford and their sh*tty clutches!!

yeah, I had an eXtreme clutch on my E30 bmw and that thing clamped like a bitch but was still drivable. I think most of the cost in the Mal wood's is the included flywheel. KPM in adelaide recommend the extreme clutches, I think there may be confusion on the forums because Xtreme clutches is an adelaide based custom clutch company while Xtreme tune is a company on here. I just don't know if I can justify the extra $600+ to get the Mal Wood when I'm not going to go hunting any extra power and won't be doing anything else to the car bar suspension.

Hey all, Wacked on the generic tune last week, it's perfect. Power all over the place, much better economy and it's smooth as silk. Problem is on the 10psi tune today the clutch slipped under load. By underload I mean already changed gears, drivetrain fully engaged. Power hits 2500 rpm and up slide the revs by 200 or so rpm and back again. I backed off straight away and tried again.. yep slipping as the torque comes on. I'm not surprised considering it's a mark II BA 6sp and from what I've heard the clutch is made of poo. The question is though....if I go back to 8psi or even stock will the clutch be ok for a while or do I have to replace it now that it's slipped? My understanding is that the issue relates to the pressure plate being to weak to hold down the clutch plate. If that's the case, less torque should mean no problems correct? If I have to replace it what are Xtreme clutches in Adelaide like?? I got a quote for $880 + $360 fitting for the Xtra Heavy Duty pressure plate and clutch. I'm not planning on going past the generic tune but if I buy a clutch I want it to last for at least a few years.

That's what I figure.. Might get it chucked on the dyno to check A/F ratio's otherwise.. I'll just leave it. More then happy with the power though. Now I just need to spend some money on suspension

Hey guys, Just put the generic tunes put on my stock XR6t Mark II BA. 8psi runs perfectly, so does 10psi actually. It's smooth and crap loads faster. I put it on the 8psi tune 2 days ago and the 10 psi tune last night. Can't hear any pinging and it really does run perfectly. Should I still gap the plugs down to 0.8mm? I don't know what they are at the moment but if it's running so well do I need to change anything.

I've had this happen as well, twice! Both times scary, but then the car is a manual and it's easy to pop it out of gear and let that baby rev! Mine was caused by the floor mats sliding forward. They give you those screw things for a reason!

I get around 520kms a tank driving around the city and at work. 6sp manual turbo.

Thanks mate, it was Topham Upark. Just opposite my company's main office.

Ha ha , don't worry not taking the law into my own hands.

Hmm. not interested in opening up the PCM. I was hoping you could just tune it via the ECU input and that would be it. Oh well.. will have to steal chooches Capa box.. :D
-
well, I know it was a comonwhore that did the damage.. obviously their panels are made of tissue compared to the falcon.

Hello all, I'm looking at getting a custom tune mainly because most people report better fuel economy (and some extra power won't be turned down :D) Do you have to get a capa box or similar to get a custom tune or can you simply get a custom tune done with the "auto learn" on the ECU switched off so it stays there? I know the dealer may flash the ECU which would then wipe my tune, but I guess in this case I could just go back to the shop and get them to upload my saved tune in around 5mins. Cheers all.
