  5. Yeah I didnt have any torx attachments so I was "almost" stuck. Very good idea though PIT STOP . I will look at doing that this weekend. I am abit worried about winter and what you suggested sounds like a very good idea. Im hoping I have 2 days of sunshine to get the whole project finished. Rears are ready to go in, I might try get that done one night after work if I finish early. Then hopefully leaving the amp/sub & head unit/facia to do over the weekend. Thanks for your tips mate
  6. OK.. well. Peth decided to piss down on us today which meant it was hard to get anything done.. Few brews went down a treat and my cousin ripped off the door trims and we got the splits in. Im not 100% sure about the mounting spot for the crossover but I dont know where else to put it atm. If anyone has any better ideas maybe you can let me know. Apparently its pretty hard to get the wiring through the door/firewall. ATM it seems dodge.. its wrapped up in a plastic bag that it came in and taped up tightly.. all wires are tie'd up to the other's amongst the door, using the factory wires from the deck to power the speakers. Soon to cut and join in the new deck. This can always be changed and im hoping for a better solution. I didnt read a post on mounting the rears.. but what I found was it was easy to remove the rear grill's and you gain access to the srews that hold in the speakers.. should be plenty of room to work. Dont need to remove the shelf at all, kinda handy . Anyway heres some pics so far.. more to come. I should point out that I had a little 1/4" drive ratchet set that was able to get the bolt's out of the speakers.. (if you dont have the fitting) cant remember what size socket it was now but ill let ya know when I tackle the rear again. Till next weekend.. will slowly get there. Pray for better weather next W/E!!
  7. Thanks Pit Stop, about to make a start. With the surround I would like to retain a small pocket under the deck, I have seen a few post's on here where people have done that. Dont know how secure the deck will become though. I may have to brace her up. Thanks for the info regarding the speaker wires, very handy!.
  8. Sorry the splits and the rears are both 6.5" not 6".. will post pictures and details of the install stay tuned
  9. As I have no premium sound I thought its bout time for an upgrade.. only had the car 2 weeks!. Anyone have any feedback on these decks?. I hear they are pretty good. Too late now as Ive bought it . The big task tomorrow is to install the sucker into the "tissue box" haha. Wish me luck. Any tips on mounting this?. Im going to read through the post's tonight. I have some good pioneer 6" splits to go in the front.. I have some good 4 way pioneer 6" to go in the rear. The guy at the audio shop was nice enough to cut me some mdf templates to convert the 5x7 to 6". I also have a Alpine V12 amp and alpine ZR sub to go in the boot. Should sound good cant wait to get started tomorrow
  10. Yeah I have a 3 month warranty so I think I will take it back. The pad's do seem to be fairly new.. I will be taking the wheels off over the weekend and checking the pad's out. The front caliper's are black with Ford PBR written on them, with thicker slotted rotor's. The rear looks to be standard caliper with slotted disk. (without pulling the wheels off) One other thing Ive noticed which im not 100% sure about is the idle of the engine.. I will be looking through post's tonight.. but is it normal for there to be a slight differ in idle every now and then??. Almost like a miss but not really, its hard to explain. If I sit in the car and watch the RPM needle it may jump up or down (a few mm's) every now and then, very rare but still happens. Heard of this??. Im just trying to get anything repaired before the car runs out of the 3 month warranty. Once again the car has done 69,000 k's. THANKS )
  11. Hey all, Just bought a second hand 03 Black XR6T. I am loving the car atm but am just a little worried about the brake squel I hear from the premo brakes. I have been reading a few post's and it does seem fairly commen. What can I do about it??. I have 3 months to sort any problems on this car under a Ford "used car warranty" so I spose I am trying to get tips on anything else to look for?. Main thing I have found so far is the brake squeel. Car has done 69,000k's. btw.. black is soooo hard to wash & keep clean! finding out the hard way . Luckily I enjoy washing her haha.
