Consult your local council. In many parts of Aus it is now illegal to burn off, but it will depend largely on your local councils bylaws. Try their website and if you cant get an answer there, give them a ring on Monday. Also, If you are allowed to do this, show a bit of couresy to your neighbours and let them know, so that they can get the washing off the line and close their house up.

Yeah I have heard the same tab. I have been lead to believe BP Ultimate is the *beep* in NSW but have been told that the Shell VPower is superior up here in QLD. Having said that I use either Shell or BP (they are the only ones that sell 98RON in town) and cant tell the difference, except that the BP is always dearer! Interesting! Here in order of least to most expensive, the local SHell sells its standard 91RON as unleaded, then has a premium unleaded which is 95RON and then then sell Vpower which I am told by the local distributor is 98RON. No such thing as Optimax up here! I do live quite a way from Canberra, but you would think Shell would keep it consistent so as not to confuse the consumer, wouldn't you?

Oh, I picked that up 6 months ago Scotty! No need to confirm what is already well known. Even if I didn't know this, I do know that anyone who actually rides a 1kcc bike on the road is not too concerned about being law abiding. After all it is almost impossible to ride one at or under the speed limit.
-
Lucky for me, I use both forms of transport as my 'complete' solution. I just prefer that my 4 wheeled ride is almost as fast as my 2 wheeled one. How do you get your speed fix on any bike while still remaining 'law abiding'. Track days? If that's the case, this isn't quite getting your speed fix whenever you want. IE. on a whim because you feel like it right now. You need to book weeks out. Hardly whenever you want, is it? Oh, and regarding the 'what can you do without being considered gay' thread, commenting on how fine some rooster looks is probably not quite going to make the grade!
-
If that's the whole point (being more law abiding, not consuming Premium, not getting the urge to mod), is the Fireblade going next? I am sure you could get a great deal if you traded up on a Honda Scoopy. The perfect stablemate for your new 'car' !

I purchased one of these in the group buy mentioned above. Its a 5 inch with 3.5 inch inlet/outlet ( my ute runs a 3.5 inch CES exhaust). I went to get this fitted today but the exhaust guy needs to modify my exhaust a little bit and didn't have all the bits he needed for the job, so now I am booked in to have it fitted next Monday. Once its been on a week or two I'll report back on my impressions if you like.

I agree 100%. A visual presence is a great way to keep the general motoring public in check and does change the behaviour of motorists. In fact the presence alone without actually booking anyone is enough or a deterent. Hiding behind bushes or in drains out of sight as part of a blitz every three months does nothing but raise a few $$. Same goes for setting up cameras. These dont affect behaviour in the least. Having any revenue put back into better roads or real driver training is also a great idea. It would certainly keep the sceptic in me satisified that the revenue raised is at least doing some good for the motoring public, not just being issued so that the pollies get to have an awesome end of year christmas party!

Me too originally. Grew up on Blackforest Rd! Went to Iramoo primary school and Werribee High ( that's what it used to be called anyway). Played junior footy and cricket for Wyndhamvale. Played basketball and badminton at the Rec centre on Ballan road. Did my apprenticeship in the Western Suburbs and went to what was then called Yarraville TAFE. There is a little bit of everyone in Werribee by the way!! Off topic enough for ya!!
The first kit would need to be a H4 to replace the main dual filament globe but what would the second kit for the hi beams need to be?
Sorry. What I want to confirm is that the Hi beam globe is a H7 if I go on to purchase the second kit?? -
I would recommend the Lo Kit only, and then if you really need the high beams, get a second set. Alternatively if you already know you want high beam - Bi-Xenon is for you, although i haven't fitted a Bi-Xenon kit
Hey Pat. I will purchase the lo kit only first up. Then if I still feel the need for high beams ( which I am kinda thinking I probably will just to have awesome hi beams) I will get another kit off you. The first kit would need to be a H4 to replace the main dual filament globe but what would the second kit for the hi beams need to be? Bank acc details please! -
So the kit you installed was a Hi/Lo kit? Do these have the ability to dip/raise the beam? I really wanted to retain high beam Pat. I know you have stated lo kit only but is the Hi/Lo kit available? I know you are saying the standard hi beam is redundant but the ability to focus these HIDs further up the road would be a huge advantage for those of us who really need to have good light to dodge roos, goats or cattle on dark country roads with no steet lights like the ones on your pics.

Yep, makes perfect sense. You are assumed Guilty until you can prove otherwise and its going to cost you $37.50 to prove it!

that's the thing. We put the pollies in place. If a law is unpopular then are they really representing us? Of course not, so instead of making up unpopular laws, they embark on a propaganda campaign to make the more easily persuaded among us believe that these laws need to be enforced for the good of everyone. that's what the speed kills campaing is. A very successful propaganda campaign run at our expense to make us believe that we need to be policed heavily for doing 10% + 1 over the posted sign limit regardless of the road conditions, etc. As I said, I just feel it is the wrong tactic and I believe that the fact that road tolls haven't dropped in the last 25 years backs that up. What they should have been doing (in a perfect world) for the last 10-20 years while upgrading the road system to something like that found in other western countries, is selling us propaganda on the good things that come from the compulsory driver training/car control courses that they are going to enforce as part of a new and improved licencing system and how a licence is going to be more expensive to attain but that it will mean safer roads and less life lost. Now we all have to get around in one of the most heavily taxed road systems in the world, too scared to take our eyes off the speedo to watch where we are going or whats in our mirrors. End Rant! PS None of that was aimed at you Iconic. You are just doing your job, and a tough one it is at that.

No yearly roadworthy is required in Vic as far as I know. Only upon sale of a vehicle/transfer of rego of a vehicle into a different name. The fact that he has been ordered to do this ( and via the post and at his expense) seems above board to you considering the above?
-
Yes, I believe it is 10% + 1kph before the NSW police will decide to pull you up, is that in the ballpark Iconic?
-
Not really fishin mate, although I believe that as the enforcer of road laws in NSW, Iconic and I probably have different views on road safety. He has probably been to a couple of nasty smashes in his time which may be attribute to his beliefs. Correct me if I am wrong Iconic. My point is that regardless of the % of variance, NSW and QLD are not far behind VIC when it comes to their eagerness to enforce speed. NSW have taken a different tact to Vic. Instead of booking you for 3klm over the limit, they have dropped speed limits for no real reason. Bells line of Road is a good example of this. Its nearly all 80kph now, yet it is an opened road. Sections of The New England Hwy is another. I personally believe it is the wrong way to tackle the road toll. Getting 'worlds best' licencing and driver training systems into the equation and improving our roads is where our attention should be pointed, not brainwashing the gernal public into believing that doing anything over the posted speed limit is criminal.
-
Not in NSW though, of course!
-
So what would be the consequences of ignoring this letter Iconic? Is this a case of him being guilty until he forks out the money to prove his innocence? I feel that this is wrong personally. If VicRoads or the EPA have reported a possible issue, then shouldn't the onus be on them to provide the service to test the vehicle free of charge ( and then fine accordingly if the vehicle is illegal)? Is there another avenue that can be taken?
-
Yes of course. And if your house is broken into and your valuables stolen you are also a whinger if you report this to police. They do have much more pressing issues to deal with and numbers are stretched tight. After all, they are too busy out there booking potential killer speeding motorists who are doing walking pace over the speed limit and kids on bikes without there stack hats on to worry about this type of petty crime!
Yeh no worries but just want to see the colours. Was after the 6000k but might go the 5000k if there is no option for hi beam. Russ
I thought there was an option for high beam. The hi/lo kit is a high beam set up isn't it Pat? -
Dave (Blueboost) is probably out at Collinsville at the moment and an be hard to get in touch with when out there. Did you ring him on his mobile? Alternatively just send him a PM and wait. Unless you must have the tune done by Friday! Lol I would try him again, but I don't think he will be back in Mackay until the weekend. I recommend you see him. He is the closest of all the guys mentioned and he knows his stuff. You wont be dissapointed.
