1. Reliability issues? Can't say I have ever personally had an issue with reliability with a Ford. Sure I have had some quality control type things fixed under warranty but this happens with every brand of car at some point and these are nothing that threatens the actual reliability of the car usually. I cant ever remember being let down ( as in left on the side of the road) by any Ford in 20 years of driving. What in particular have you found that is so unreliable IB?
2. Here you go qik1. I googled it for you. Just follow the link for a phone number or email the! http://www.lsvinsurance.com.au/
3. I know what you meant sh*tbmxrider so I fixed it for ya!
4. With the drop in our $ its worth noting that a lot of imported tyres have gone up quite a bit in the last few months. Just be mindful of that when looking at tyre prices quoted here in old threads. I had a set of Toyo Proxes 4s fitted last week and am liking these a lot. Feel a lot gripier than the Yokis V103s that they replaced. I got 245/40 R18s for $255 a corner from a local tyre hop who sells a lot of toyo, so I reckon you should be able to get 19s for the sort of money you are looking to spend if you shop around.
5.
However, due to the great response and amount of interest in HID from everyone i am organising a new group buy. The new buy will have the same price for the Heligkeit as we have here ($150 delivered) but we will also have some other options for you.
Hey Pat. Any more info on some of the other options that you are planning in the next buy? How about bixenon kits for H4 as well as a 55W kit for the H7 hi beams?
6. PM Rapid. He sells the textralia twin plate. Tough as nails and will last longer (as will any twin plate) at the higher power/torque levels than any single plate. If you're in Sydney he might even be able to line up a car that has one fitted for you to test drive. BTW, that's the clutch I have fitted!
7. Yeah mate. Where I work Telstra are the only ones with towers in that area. I literally work in the middle of nowhere, 60klm from the nearest town ( which has a population of around 600). The nearest decent population ( over 1000 people) is over 150klm away. There is no choice.
8. No worries smicky. I'm no expert on these things but I do work in a remote area of Central Nth QLD and the ONLY coverage I can get on a mobile is NextG. I assumed it was because Telstra have more towers in out of the way places than any other.
9. Which of their networks? Standard old digital or are you on NextG? NextG is the best one in rural areas.
10. Who are you with ( what service provider)? I work in a very isolated part of the world but get good reception because I changed providers. Do you have any neighbours nearby? Ask them who they are with.
11. Not near Lake Borrie by any chance??
12. No I think we need to get the army in for such a heinous crime actually. The local constabulary just aren't equipped to handle such a hardcore criminal. Seriously, aren't these such petty little, nit picking, horsesh*t crimes. Cited because your exhaust may be too loud by one or two decibels ( turned out it wasn't in this case, what a farce) or because someone broke the speed limit by 3kph. If the exhaust is deafening and a public nuisance, or someone is doing 30kph over and actually causing a dangerous situation, then fair enough, but for exceeding these types of laws by such a small margin, is it really worth it all? The fact that anyone even bothers enforcing such petty, minor offences is just ridiculous! I wonder if they tell their mums what they actually do for a living? You can just imagine the conversation. The son tells his mum how he booked 3 kids on bikes for not wearing their stackhats, booked an old granny for doing 55 in a 50 zone and managed to also lock up a teenager for farting in his general direction, all in a days work! How proud the parents must be to know that society is a better place thanks to their number one son! The fact that these silly petty borderline type of offences are enforced so stringently just reinforces the fact that we are as a nation being screwed over when it comes to our personal freedoms. Taking the revenue raising arguement out of the equation ( its obvious that these laws are only being enforced to protect us from ourselves, for our own good, right!) do the local law enforcement agencies of this country really have so little else to do?
13. The GTI is an awesome little car. I have alwas liked the look of them. If I were you, I would drive one with DSG and then a manual back to back to work out which way to go there. DSG is supposed to be the ducks guts, but then so is the ZF in the XRTs, yet I still ended up buying the 6SP manual. As for other options, that's all up to your own personal taste and budget. Post up pics when you get it!
14. Yeah the system isn't perfect but its better than nothing. Have you seen some of the old bombs driving on roads in states without the yearly checks? You should get up to Qld or across to SA to see some of the worst in the country.
15. Why not lend him your Mini to get home you tightarse!! On a more serious note, good luck with it!
16. The 5 inch one cost me $280 through a group buy on Ford Forums. I think they normally sell for aabout $310. The cost of fitting, which included modifying the pipework to get it up nice and close to the floor was around $200. They used a couple of stainless bends and flanges as part of the modification so not sure what the labour cost alone was.
17. Thanks mate. Nice to know that someone besides Iconic reads my rants!
18. I'm running the same exhaust and just had a 5 inch ballistic cat fitted with 3.5 inch inlet/outlet fitted. The exhaust itself needed some modifications to get it up nice and close to the floor. Stock, the dump pipe is a bit long so when you fit the bigger cat you can have clearance issues. The new Cat sits higher than the CES cat despite being a lot bigger. I can take pics and send through to your email if you like!
19. When has the ability to actually drive been assessed? Car control doesn't really come into our licencing system except at a basic level, IE clutch control and basic steering and braking. I wish it was more thorough than that but last time I checked it wasn't! I thought the road test was to see whether or not you could park a car and follow the road rules! I see a big difference actually. I'm all for yearly road worthies in all states ( like you have in NSW). It ensures that all cars on the road are able to stop, steer and perform as intended at the time of the inspection. that's a great safety initiative that protects other road users. A random letter telling you to front up to an inspection station to prove that the decibel level of your exhaust is legal or face a big fine and de-registration of that vehicle is a different thing all together.
20. True! Ironically that's the very thing which is being erroded with silly laws like these. We are the most over governed society in the world. Real freedom and libery went out the window decades ago! While there needs to be some enforcement of laws revolving around all forms of pollution (of which noise is one), I dont believe doing it by mailing out infringement notices and then making people prove there innocence is appropriate. And where is the liberty or freedom in that!
21. To some, any amount of $$ could be a big deal. Besides, consider the money lost if you need to take half a day from work to get to an approved testing station. The actual cost to the 'guilty party' is likely to be in the hundreds and in the case of some, even thousands depending on time needed, distance travelled to get to this approved test centre. Not everyone lives in Melbourne or Sydney. Personally, its the whole principle of the thing that gets up my goat. The system is wrong! Guilt is assumed until you prove otherwise in this case! If the these goverment agencies have nothing better to do than run around pinging law abiding tax payers for crap like this (via a letter in the mail FFS!) , the least thay could do is actually pull the 'guilty' party over and provide an on the spot testing facility to settle the matter there and then. If your car was found to be too loud, then fair enough, you should be required to get repairs done and then present yourself for a re-test to satisfy the requirements at your expense. In this case the onus (and any expenses incurred)are placed onto you to prove your innocence, or you are assumed to be guilty and fined, de-registered, etc. Noise is a quantitive thing that can be easily measured ( just like speed or blood alcohol content). Hand held decibel meters are easily obtained. Why not perform this kind of thing like a random breath test or a speeding infringement? Because the government knows that it would cost millions to equip every cop/EPA car with a decibel meter and the majority of vehicles on the roads would pass. In other words, no return for the money outlayed. So instead they move the onus to prove innocence onto their 'victims'. Just send out what basically amounts to an infringement notice based on someones opinion without any actual evidence and then make the victim prove otherwise! The fact that in this case the car passed shows what a joke the whole thing is IMO! I wonder if anyone ( perhaps a contractor in the building game or some barrister) has ever sent them an invoice for costs and time incurred for being put through this sh*t.
22. He very nearly stuffed up that second part. Almost missed the down ramp completely and hit the horizontal section instead on the landing. Had he done so, I think he may well have been taking a quick trip in an ambulance!
23. Yeah good. No noticable difference in note and if anything, the slight drone that I had at just around the 2000RPM rev range is now gone. Also seems a bit more eager to hit boost, IE less lag, although it could just be a figment of my imagination! I really need to get it dynoed to confrim if there is any more power. Maybe in the new year!
24. Regular unleaded ( or E10) plus a bottle of octane booster stuff?
25. He said he was too lazy to get this gear to the tip. If he's going to wack it into the back of the ute or a trailer to take to a farm and burn, how is this any easier?
