  1. I disagree strongly with this kind of road policy though, where I get the feeling you think it might not be a bad thing? If the the government was a private business then I can see the logic, but it isn't and it really shouldn't be in the make money at all costs mode, when we pay all of these taxes in the hope of imrpovements being made to infrastructure. These types of road maintenance policies may ( or may not) save lives due to the lowering of the speed limit, but upgrading the same stretch of road or upgrading the licencing system are also likely to have the same life saving benefits without us all having to go slower than ever. After all, our cars are better equipped than they ever have been to travel at higher speeds and protect us in the event of a crash. Isn't it just a little bit silly to have to travel slower on any given stretch of road in an FG, than your dad would have 35 years ago in an old HQ or XA? That is, unless revenue is the main goal here of course!
  2. I agree whole heartedley. The problem is that the government don't agree with you on your last point. They want you to go slower than a reasonable pace in most instances. Why? Because they have designed the licensing system to allow people with no driving ability to get a license. While that means that most people can obtain a licence to drive to work, etc, the trade off for this is that you don't get to drive as fast as you you may choose to on any given stretch of road, if you were given the option of picking what you think is a reasonable cruising speed taking into account the conditions, etc. They then lighten your bank account if they catch you trying to cruise at what you might consider a perfectly decent speed for those conditions. Whats more, they have worked out that it works out better financially for them if they do nothing in the way of upgrades to the road system, or even drop speed limits in some cases rather than improve the roads. The priorities regarding our roads are all wrong, yet the government has the gall to carry on about the road toll! Only because they think that this is what we want to hear though.
  3. XR09 I agree that limiting powerful vehicles for P plate drivers/riders is a good thing. So is the now compulsory rider training that we must all do to get a motorcycle licence. I velieve that this has played an even bigger part than restricing bike power to weight ratios for new riders. This topic was started though under the possibility that the government is going to try to limit what everyone can drive. As for back roads in Europe, I don't see what this has to do with anything, when you consider that our major highways are B class roads by European standards. Highways that are used to travel between major centres in this country by and large don't cut it. Not in every instance (Victoria and parts of NSW and the SE corner of QLD have some wonderfully designed roads like the newer parts of the Pacific HWY that you mentioned) but in many instances the roads are terrible compared to the same roads in other developed countries that link major cities. Surely you have driven north of Noosa on the Bruce HWY, the major route north and the lifeline depended on for food and supplies. The Bruce either side of Gympie is a joke for the volume of traffic that uses it. So is the rest of it once you get North of Maryborough. Have you ever driven to Cairns? It is an embarrassment to call this piece of bitumen HWY 1 when it amounts to little more than a pot hole scared goat track in parts. Hell, when down on the sunshine coast on my bike over the christmas period, I reckon I found backroads that are better maintained and designed than the major HWYs in the north of the state, which by the way is where the money that your semi decent roads in the SE corner comes from! I am all for people being responsible for their own actions but if these poorly designed and maintained roads aren't the governments responsibilty, then whos responsibility are they?
  4. So which one is it? You either bought the car with all of this gear to make the most of it, or you don't want too much power because your missus drives it. You obviously wanted this car because of this gear, so why not use it to full advantage? Your missus won't know the difference unless she floors that right pedal anyway. These cars are quite drivable when modded, and you can always keep a milder tune installed until you get behind the wheel if you have any concerns.
  5. I didn't realise you were a greeny worried about the poor trees! I suppose you believe that burning off to lessen the ferocity of bush fires is also not a good thing? While I agree with you that the government isn't there to fix everything, I believe that this is an area that they do need to fix, rather than taking the easy ( and incorrect) solution, in this case banning anything that is classed as semi powerful. I didn't actually mean we should remove trees or power poles either. Just install engineering solutions to prevent one from hitting these objects. Hitting a tree at 60kph will have an undesirable outcome because our bodies aren't designed to come to a sudden stop at that speed. So speeding isn't the evil menace that you have been brainwashed into thinking it is either. If it were, surely guys like Valentino Rossi or Mark Webber would all be dead. What would be nice, would be for the government to make the roads safer by using some of the billions extorted from the Australian public from fuel excise, registations and over zealous speed enforcement by installing appropriately made roads with nice wide shoulders complete with barricading to prevent cars from leaving the road, rather than just banning powerful cars. At present in many parts of the country, a shoulder half the width of the car and then nothing but a 3 mtr drop into a ditch or an 80 year old gum tree is all there is to stop you. Its easy to say that people shouldn't speed or fall asleep. What an easy, simple solution. Brilliant really! Unfortunately, we are dealing with humans and not robots, its a lot harder to prevent it. Most people who live in remote locations have had the 'micro sleep' experience at least once, but no one sets out to do that, just like you don't mean to fall asleep in front of the TV. All they want to do is get home safely to their families. One minute you are feeling fine, the next you cant remember parts of your trip or you suddenly become conscious and realise you are drifting off the road. Perhaps living in a metro area ( I'm assuming you do), you have never had this experience, or if you do feel a bit tired there is plenty of places that you can pull off the road and rest up. that's not the case over the majority of roads that cover the vat distances around our country though. The busy HWY that I travel every week out to work consists two narrow lanes cut through forest with almost no shoulder (around 1mtr along most of it) and probably 3 safe pull off places that includes the small towns that the road runs through) to pull up over a 150klm piece of road. If I get tired on the way to or from work, it is usually at least 20 minutes to get to somewhere suitable to pull over. Not ideal, yet it is one of the most highly used country highways in QLD. It also has claimed its fair share of lives over the years. How do you suppose we stop the carnage on this road? Just not speed and if you think over the next 2 hours, on the way to work you may get tired, just don't go to work? Oh, and take a bit of responsibilty for myself rather than blaming the sub standard road networks once you get out of a 50klm radius of the capital cities. Its not the governments fault that they are in this condition, right!
  6. What did you end up getting? A FG F6 motor? Did Dave help you out with ordering this?
  7. May as well add better brakes and suspension components to the list as well for a track car. They probably matter more than which intercooler anyway.
  8. Not even high speed is the culprit. Most deaths happen while travelling at the speed limit! Just fall asleep and drift out of there lane. What really kills people is the sudden stop when these people hit a light pole, a ditch or a tree, which the government failed to move when they built the road, or hitting a car head on due to the fact that our roads are not up to standard with the rest of the world and largely have no dividing barriers between oncoming traffic. Maybe instead of starting all of this bullsh*t again ( this sounds a lot like the supercar scare of 1972 which killed off the phase 4)the government needs to actually spend some coin and fix the f*cking roads bringing them up to standard with other parts of the developed world!
  9. fair enough. Just wasn't sure if the guy knew he didn't have to travel 1000klm to get this done!
  10. Why is your boss going to Sydney to have a Nizpro kit fitted when there is a Nizpro tuner in Brisbane?

  12. Too true, but its just so nice to read anything that Iconic Neo posts. They convey such a warm and fuzzy feeling throughout the whole forum. Why not give him a nudge in the ribs and see what other gems he can bestow among us when it makes us all feel so good. To the OP, I find that the cruise on the BA-FG Fords isn't too bad compared to other cars I have tried, particularly once you are aware of what it will/wont do. If the hill really is that steep, I find changing down and using the engine to brake works for me and in really steep circumstances obviously use of the left pedal works. Once at the bottom of the hill engage CC once again. Too easy really, unless you expect the cruise to do something that its not really designed to do.
  13. No need to look too far. Just go back over you previous posts in this very thread. Touche'!
  14. Nothing edited. Just additions made. Of course you never edit stuff right?
  15. +2 No auto is more fun than bangiing through the gears yourself, unless you cant drive of course! Fixed it for ya! Everyones got an opinion on stuff, but not everyone else neccesarily wants to hear it!
  16. Good luck with the clutch then. You are going to need it!
  17. In an manual 300RWKW is a lot of fun but really is that all you are looking to achieve after spending all of that cash on a nizpro kit? What have you done in regards to a clutch upgrade? Cant see any mention of it in your sig.
  18. The laws vary from state to state depending on the extent of the modifications made. Best bet would be to jump on the NSW RTA site and find out whats legal, etc.
  19. You could become I high class hooker I guess. Bugger me is right!
  20. If you luck, one of the site sponsors (Rapid systems) sells Plazmamman gear. Why not contact Chris and see if he can help you out?
  21. Sorry to break it to you, but you could have used your money more wisely and got a better result for the $$ spent as per R-Specs post above. No need to spend money replacing the factory blow off valve ( looks like you have according to your signature) at the power level you have achieved, no need for a surge tank/ bosh 044 set up when an intank Walbro would suffice ( a lot of guys find that they dont even need that in a ute) and those SS inductions kits are not the most efficient use of your cash either! The money wasted on these few items alone, along with the over inflated price that you paid for your injectors would have paid for a good cooler with appropriate piping, and an under battey CAI which would have resulted in at least a 30RWKW jump in power, less lag, better throttle response and more consistencey in power during the summer months!
  22. The big 3 out in the mines are sparkies, boiler makers and fitters. Find out what you can about these and then make a choice on which way you want to go. I work in an open cut mine. Electricians pretty much run the show as it is such a large part of the industry, so I would probably look at an electrical trade, and not just wiring houses but working for an employer who does a lot of industrial work.
  23. Nice to know. I have a slightly used clutch out of an F6 ready to go into mine just before I start to mod and I am looking for around the same power levels as you.
  24. Whatever you reckon mate. Fish away. Your first post in this thread was that vague that people weren't even sure initially what you wanted to know. Sorry that having the gumption to actually question you has upset you so much that you actually felt the need to single me out! NOT!!
