  1. Hey Gaz. Welcome mate. Did you import the ute yourself? You gotta get that ute on Top Gear mate! Let the Stig loose on it! I'm sure they would hate it but it would be interesting to see what they thought of it! It would have to go onto the cool side of the board.
  2. Have you done anything to try to fix this so far. I had a Mal Wood short throw shifter and some Transmax wacked into mine the day after I picked it up. My box is awesome with 5000klm on her. No probs with any gear although I thought it might become an issue once the clutch fluid goes off.
  3. No worries. Why don't you lead off. How much do you earn and hour turbotrana?

    The Break Up

Sorry to hear it mate. I take it you are only a young bloke. FWIW I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. There are plaenty of fish in the sea and in a few years you will look back and realise you are in a better place than you were with her, believe it or not. In the mean time get out there and smash it up mate!
  5. I take it this isn't just for the WA guys so here goes! Name: Craig (Bet you couldn't guess that one) Occupation: Plumber Infrastructure Maint Mine: Rio Tinto Coal Aust. Hail Creek Previous mines: Nil. Other info Shift: 8 on 6 off. Live onsite while at work for 7 nights. Then get to go home (Mackay is 150klm from Hail Creek so not FIFO but DIDO)and spend 7 nights there.
  6. Yeah that lid and spoiler look awesome. I just had a look on the AWC website but couldn't find one like it though. I am hoping that they do one though as I could see one on my ute in the near future
  7. I had a failure the day after I picked up a second hand BA Fairmont with just over 30,000klm back in 2005. Had it replaced under warranty.
  8. Actually the end of any month can be a good time to buy, depending on the sales for that month. You have to think that July would be a slow month after all of the end of financial years sales, so this Saturday ( last Sat of the month) could be a good time buy.
  9. that's a very noble gesture. Buy something at an uncompetitive price from a supplier to help the guy you bought it off achieve enough sales to buy in bulk and then offer them cheaper TO SOMEONE BESIDES YOU!! Can someone please explain how such a strategic purchasing policy would help Henra, because I'm a little confused?
  10. Is that Friendelys? They played the same game with me earlier this year when I bought my ute. Full retail. I purchased elsewhere, then they cracked the sh*ts with me! Are you in the position that you are actually ready to purchase yet?
  11. There may be somewhere closer. Go here http://www.nulon.com.au/index.php and hover your arrow over "support" up the top to make the menu drop down. Then just click on store locator and follow the prompts!
  12. You could also use some timber to section of the floor of the tub. There are sections of the plastic liner that have been moulded to take timber pieces and instructions on how to do it and the dimensions and length of timber to do it in the owners manual. This, when combined with the rubber matting would stop the box from moving all the way forward in an emergency stop.
  13. I didn't know that. Thanks, just trying to get my head around it all.
  14. Thanks 2fardown for enlightening me. I am new here and it can be hard to get your head around how many ways there are to skin that cat I mentioned! I will go and have a look at the install link. So when the time comes to mod, if I didn't want to go that way, another way around it might be to spend more money on a top of the line plenum/intercooler kit to produce the same cooler charge without the pump, etc of the meth/water injector? I'm thinking something like a Process West or a Plazmaman set up may produce similar results to the smaller Monza ( wog) cooler with meth/water injection? I'm just not sure about this mod at the moment. You inject this stuff so that you can stretch the engine by uping boost and playing with the timing. I like the idea of keeping the boost low and helping the thing breathe. I am looking at longevity when I say that and am thinking out loud so please don't be offended. Just trying to put together what might be best for me.
  15. Sorry for the dumb questions but...... Whats the go with this methanol/water injection? I know that others achieve this type of power without this mod but also appreciate that there is more than one way to skin a cat. How does this work? For those that use this mod, is it practical on a daily driver or if you were driving from Mackay to Sydney? DO you use it all the time or only when you are at the drag strip or on the dyno? I ask becaiuse I know that Dave is my local tuner. While I haven't approached him yet, I know that I will at some point and it seems that he likes this mod. Just wondering about the pros and cons of it are.
  16. How so? The ute weighs more ( about 50kg I believe) and the BFII has traction control fitted, unlike the BA utes. So is it really that much different other than no IRS? I welcome your thoughts on the subject.
  17. Guys I'm getting a little bit off topic here so please feel free to reply via a PM instead of in this thread. Having been there and done that, if I were to give you my new ripcurl ute and told you I wanted 300kw, how would you achieve it ( theoretically of course)? I'm new to all this but from what I can gather the BFII is a lot easier to get this out of. I'm thinking along the lines of exhaust, CAI, injectors and obviously a tune. Would that get me where I want to be with a reliable, use everyday car? I should mention the ute is a manual so before I let you loose on it I would have had the clutch upgrade done Sorry for the hijack!
  18. Nice topic TUF. I have just purchased a new XR6T ripcurl ute and was wondeing the same. I figure when the time comes to play with the stock settings, I wouldn't want to go much more over 300RWKW ( I just have to work out the best way to go about that now) but it will be interesting to see what those who have been there and done that have to say on the subject.
  19. Yeah definitely. I just purchased my ripcurl ute from a dealership in SE QLD and am happy to recommend them. If you live in tassie though it probably won't work out that cheap by the time you get it home mate!

    Bloody Roos!

Just for interest sake guys, I'm not sure where you live but was wondering where did this happen? I travel from Mackay inland a fair bit with work and have had a few close calls myself.
  21. Just wondering, regarding which fuel, has anyone with an edit and other mods tried the new Shell V power ( I think that's what it's called)?

    Ripcurl Utes!

Yeah it's a Ripcurl. Purchasing it from Maroochy Ford on the sunny coast. Great salesman and the best price by a long shot ( more than 2K better) of the quotes that I got. Color is Bionic. Some people like Bionic, others don't. I like all things blue so it was a no brainer. Love the color. Options that I'm getting: Towbar, forglamp protectors, XR Mats and mud spats. I was going to go sports leather trim but couldn't decide on the day I ordered it. The dealer told me I had 3-5 days if I wanted to change anything. Actually rang the dealer this afternoon to see if I could get it. I was too late. Went into production today. I only ordered it Friday . The dealer seems to think I will have it in a fortnight now instead of 4 weeks so that's a good thing. Was also going to get ladder racks and an aluminium tray fitted by the dealer before delivery but decided against it. Had it all priced up and ordered until I changed it today. It will be a part time work ute ( 4 days a month or there abouts) and for the rest of the time my daily driver, hence the tray idea but it would spoil the look of it too much, so I have decided to work out of a tradesmans trailer instead.

    Ripcurl Utes!

I ordered mine last Friday and was told 4 weeks. Wasn't actually ready to buy but was made an offer that I couldn't refuse. :D
