I'm running standard ICC twin stinger in line convertors to a 4 channel kenwood amp running 4 factory size JL 5x7s and using Line out on the Kenwood to a Alipine 350mono blockrunning a 12"Dual 4ohm Voice coil JL sub mount ed behind drivers seat facing the passenger wall. No noise interfearence very controllable and surprisingly sounds a lot better than when it was in the AU sedan I Had previous. 4 Channel is under passenger side seats and Mono under drivers. Power down passenger side and accross to drivers side with single earth source. (passenger seat mount). I agree that running the earth back to the battery could pick up the alternator whine and as such have always had very short earth leads from amps. I was advised by a few audio mobs that running a line booster (signal booster etc) would amplify the whine along with the preout voltage and that would be worth trying without first. Perhaps this might be the cause. I would start by reducing length of earth wire and go on from there.

Well I finally done it. After much deliberation we now have a second BA family member to go with dad's (XR6TBOGEY) Turbo. Picked it up Thursday night 12/04 MKii Manual Velocity XR8 Ute. Hard cover Wing and Stripes. So now we have 2 beautiful blue BAs in the house with best of both worlds. Auto and Man turbo and Quad Cam v8 muscle. Reaction to it just got to love the engine noise at between 3700 and bout 4200 as the second set of cams kick in and that beautiful engines noises come out. :o :o Not really looking forward to the first few runs in the rain though. The au was slippery as it was. Will post some pics of the 2 girls shortly

This is my opionion neither right nor wrong. not baggin any product. I think we were "spoilt" (and being the lil "spoilt brat" I ain't complaining) by the xr6t by ford because they just gave us something that was too good. And everyone here would agree that the xr6t was and still is amazing. All its done is perhaps set our expectations higher. Perhaps what all the discussion with the typhoon should be not how "bad" the phoon is but just how good the "t's" really are.

Just want to make a quick recommendation on those Honkook Ventus 104s we've just changed our 18s to those tyres and must say for a tyre which was less than half the price of the dunnylops (yes half the price) they have great traction great grip and are very quiet compared to previous. And great ride. My mate also has these tyres on his xr6 ute with 19's and I can say they seem to wear pretty damm well too. considering his driving style and light arse end they are quite impressive. Oh and by the way that is one beatuiful ride you got there. Really Really good visaul package. I'm not normally a fan of that colour but that is the exception looks fantastic great work

rednut, how many litres do u get in your tank for the 600ks? remembering our full bodied sedans only run 68l tank which you can only ever get about 55 to 60 into in my experiences anyway. but we've got 14000ks and it averages about 14.5 on the trip comp and that would be 90/10 city/highway

Just had a quick chat with ford they are def going to do a full rebuild on (auto) box all new packs and bearings. New Raditator unsure if there are 2 kinds. Hopefully they agree and replace all the rubber hoses. The last thing to be decided is how far they are going to check to ensure seals and gaskets haven't been effected and flushing the block. But that will be sorted over the next few days. So the wait starts again.......come to think of it this will be the longest time I've ever been wihout the baby.....and the week I spent waiting was killing me and that was before I got used to seeing it every day and and oh god wheres the bundy ............ chao will keep you all posted though.

Just got word back from Ford. Auto transmission fluid line in radiator spilt. When car running more pressure in tranny the water so pilss out fluid. when shut down more pressure in radiator than tranny tranny fills with water. Ford are going to rebuild gearbox replaceing all clutch packs and bearings. New Radiator and radiator bottle I had to request that all rubber hoses be replaced and Ford have insisted to me that they will be able to flush out the entire system and log down so any future problems related to this will be tracked back. So looks like I'll be beastless for the next week or so but will have a new box for it.

my bottle was pure pink no green in it at all. and thick like gravy. Thanks for your help guys

that's my main concern. Also what damage it could do to areas where the sludge has been within the cooling system which has lines that run to the turbo, all the ares in the block the water pump just everywhere. it may be fine to flush it today but the long term is the question. Hopefully ford will have a good solution for all this.......we can only hope. anyone out there whose in ford care to comment on any previous instances of this occuring?

also sludge has no brown consistency only this pink sludge.

have checked oil yesterday morning oil is clean clean no water in there, thank god!

Sunday arvo about 5.20 driving on gateway Mwy northbound about 105ks notice engine was running a tad hotter than usual say 2 needle widths wrong side of halfway rather than the usual 2 width below thought to self that's strange not 5 ks later temp light and warning chine sound temp almost to red!!!! ASAP pull over shut down Pop bonnet to what looked like a disaster. small rubber pipe about 4 to 5 cm long which joins the metal return cooling hose from turbo had spilt showering engine bay in the contents of radiator. Now that wouldn't be so bad except that rather than just water and coolant I had this pink sludge with the consistency of water downed grease all over the engine bay. Called ford assistant who towed me to a servo and sent racq out who replaced the hose and insited it would be fine and take it back to Ford on monday. Got home proceeded to degrease and wash engine bay (me thinking coolant and paint do not mix well) trying to get this sludge off was a mission it stuck to everything. got the beast to ford yesterday who are looking into for me. My main concern is how it got this fluid in there to turn the coolant into sludge. my suspiscion would be that its auto trans fluid being red and perhaps something down near the cooler and radiator. If this is the case, how long are any of the other rubber hoses last? how are ford going to throughly flush this stuff out not only the cooling system but all the sensors? the block? the heater? and also what about the tranny and torque convertor? has water got into the fluid and how long has this been going on and how what if any damage both long and short term has this caused. Sorry for the long post but had to stress how bad this sludge was and both immediate and longer term effects it may or may not have on the car. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Quote: Thanks to Garrett, we were able to peel off a few quarter-miles in Detroit with an XR6 manual. Once your left hand learns to shift, it’s a 14.3-second ride with a trap speed of 98 mph while 60 mph passes in 5.9 seconds, the Barra roaring nicely to its 5900-rpm redline and the turbo whooshing hard. The power flows in a silky wave from the naturally balanced six, a gentle push at first that quickly grows into a linebacker’s shove once the big turbo gets its wind up. Minus the driver, there are 3849 pounds to stop, and the ABS disc brakes bring the Falcon down from 70 mph in a commendable 169 feet." nice to see garrett use our local product to demo their turbo technology. also that if not for them no one would know what they are missing!!!!!

well in the spirit of off- topic random posting I'd just like to say its 11.47 am here in brisbane I am at work on a sat and for some reason it is overly quiet today and I am hungover and sore and very very tired. on a more +ve note it looks like the planns for tonight are playing out very nicely.

I got 1 for ya 05/03 .............. and a massive 8000ks today turns out its good when u work from home all the ks are the ks you drve for u

just a question have u had problems with interference when car is running I did very similar install into a mates ute and had a bit of interference. had to try a few different methods of overcoming this. just thought to ask how u go with this problem
-
got a mate who bought an na ute. ran high pass into an amp got real bad whine. installers had 3 further attempts at rectifying problem inventually sorted it out. however I notice u have premium sound........I believe (correct me if wrong) but premium sound units run RCA preouts........therefore removing need for the 'high level input. this should fix the problem. I believe 'cam' at one stageposted pics of the factory amp and wiring perhaps this would be a good start.???

the rust usually seems to show around door hinges as an easy dector. what seems to happen is that between hinge and body, its left bare metal instead of being primed then bolted on ( coz that's too difficult). any where anything is bolted to the body is a suspect spot. on ours when it was looked at it had started pitting. apparantly some repair jobs are over 2000 worth. so advice to remove a door hinge and have a look. only problem is that you run risk of removing paint.

JUST THOUGHT I ADD IN THAT I AM TOO A MEMBER OF XR CLUB OF QLD. BOTH OUR XR6T AND MY DAILY AU XR8 ARE BOOKED IN FOR THE RUST CHECK ORGANISED BY THE CLUB. ALSO OUR T WAS ONE OF THE FIRST LOOKED AT AND LETS JUST SAY ITS A BIT OF A PISS ME OFF. THE COST CUTTING GOT A BIT OUT OF HAND HERE I THINK. ANYWAY BOTH OUR CARS ARE GOING IN 1 AFTER THE OTHER TO BE LOOKED AT AT THE END OF FEB. ITS NOT SOMETHING TO UNDERREACT TOO. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU PICKED UP YOUR BRAND NEW XR8 UTE ONLY TO FIND THAT THE TRAY MOUNTS HAVE ALREADY RUSTED HALFWAY THROUGH THE TRAY BODY?????
