Ok what I think I’ve narrowed the problem down to is a faulty O2 sensor, as the surging only happens when the car is cruising, the car is using closed cycle cruise mode. So if the O2 sensor is intermediately giving out the wrong voltage it will cause the engine to run to lean or rich causing the surging and loss of power. So on the weekend I’m going to replace the O2 sensor and see if that fix’s the problem.
What you saw would have been all the cars meeting up to put on club displays at sandown for the V8 super cars. I went last year with "fordmods.com", it was pretty good!! Got a weekend pass for free and our cars were on display under the grand stand, so the track was very close!!
I'm pretty sure it's not the torque converter, as when the surging starts I loose power and the boost guage goes from around -0.5 bar vacume to around -0.1 to 0
Well it surges sometimes when I'm crising down the hwy, ie with cruise control "on" and on flat road, it doesn't matter how much fuel I have it'll do it with a full tank. at WOT its fine...
G'Day ever since I'v had my car it surges/missfires at cruise speeds some times, ie 80 - 110km/h. When it starts doing it I just stab the throttle enough so it downshifts to 3rd then it seems to dissapear for a while. This problem only seems to exist at cruse speeds, when doing spirited driving and stop start city driving the car 100% fine. Now it's done this since befor I got my tune done, and has only recently come back after my tune got done a few months ago.. The spark plugs got replaced 7 months ago Fuel filter replaced 2 months ago Any ideas?? Anyone had this problem before?? Thanks Stefan
Since my car got tuned it hasn't seen the drag strip, yet... Back then all it had was the a CAPA generic flash tune running 8-9psi (had actuator issues) plazmaman stg1 cooler and x-force catback. It ran a 13.7@106mph and the air temp was about 32 degrees C
The cost of reg/ctp is $172.80 and $313.50 respectively, total= $486.30. but that's country rego, if your in a metro zoned area the total is around $550ish. But... if you have a ute, that's cassified as a commercial vehicle and rego/ctp is only around $350!!!
Mate that's not true... It would overboost if it has a different cat, or if it it has a full aftermarket exhaust from the turbo back. In these cars the cat converter is the biggist restriction in the exhaust.. So because this car only has a cat back the car will be fine!!
I upgraded from a 96' EF Fairmont (1st car) that had a full exhaust and mild cam, I was stoked when it made 130rwKW!! Now I got a 04' BA XR6t that pulled 287rwKW on the weekend, and I want more!!! I definatly have no regrets on buying the BA
fordmods.com are having a dyno day on the saturday 26th April at dynomotive in bayswater... http://www.fordmods.com/forums/vic-4th-vic...008-t61280.html
Nope there not just about burnouts.. but there is a big focus on them! These are the event that are there.. Burnouts, Street Drags, Sound Off, Go to Whoa, Show N Shine, Cruising, Dyno Challenge
Did ya see me there cutting laps too?!? Ripped a nice skid down the lenght of the Go to Whoa :tosser: Had fun, but I dont think my tranny likes me any more...
that's a damn good effort!! I like your style :tosser: I tend to average around 14-20lt/100km, that's 1/2 city 1/2 country driving (300 - 400km to a tank depending on my mood) I dont take it easy around the city.. I am only 21
