Picked the car up on thursday night and here's what I think so far: I wasn't sure about the colour after I had ordered the car and spent some time thinking I would have liked silver or dark blue but when I saw the car there I was pretty happy. Now the colour has realy grown on me, I love it! Glad I got the options I did, thinking maybe on the 18 inch rims but happy with what I got I think. The Good: I like the radio / CD / controls on the steering wheel, intuitive and easy to use and the premium sound system's good enough for me. Love the colour hills? what hills? the power comes on in a rush, It's great fun. lots of stares, parked it in darwin and had a coffie, people walking past stopped and looked. headlights are much better than the older falcons, not so sure about the fog lights, Don't see much fog here.... premiums are awsome though refraining from really leaning on them till the pads bed in. dash at night looks great. A/C is very good! keeps the car cool on low settings. the seats look good and I have even got the seat set forward of it's rear most position (unusal for me, I'm 6"3 tall) bad Don't know if I like the disconnected feel of the throttle, every now and then the car seems to "think" about where the throttle is, decide if that's appropriate then give me what I asked for, a bit like driving with maladjusted SU carbs. paperwork at ford could have been sorted out prior to my arrival, but hey they made up for it and I left a happy man! It's easy to stall but getting used to that and don't do it anymore. Gave my girlfriend a drive and she stalled it a lot.... traction control makes me lazy, used to having to use my brain and foot, don't need to anymore.(not really that bad I guess) can't go to the pub or sit still anymore. Need to drive it every three hours or so... All the bad thins are minor and mostly driving related (Me not used to car yet) all the good things are major, Nothing wrong with car, no squeaks, perfect paint, everything works as it should so yes I'm more than happy! Hmm may need to go get some more milk or cigaretts, hang on, I don't smoke..... people crusing the forum and undecided? GET ONE!! you won't regret it.

I'm about to leave work to pick my new phantom XR6turbo!! ordered 11 march. Premium brakes, manual, leather seats, alloy spare, scuff plates, tinted, premium sound and carry bars (not putting them on yet) I think I've read just about all there is to read about the car and can hardly sit still! Thanks everyone for the informative posts I've been reading over the last three months! It's just made me keener to get the car!

AH! Automotive poetry, here's some of mine: Alfa's built by silly wogs leaky carbs and clogged up cogs twisted and tangled are the wires all positioned for starting fires Maloo's made for men with dogs and brains the same as retard frogs Two seats to use are just to few silly twits without a clue Landrovers aren’t for city streets you stupid bints with pearls and pleats give in your licence, go catch a train and while you're at it, grow a brain. A V8 commadore's the car to pick for those of you with a tiny pr*ck It's big and fast and tough and mean just the way you wish to be seen XE falcons, all the rage if your slack and underage afraid you can't afford to buy her? all you need's a piece of wire. Landcruiser Trayback, the mining car twin diesel tanks will take you far packed with charm and many tricks same as they were in '86 A Magna is for those who strive, to one day a real car drive It is another boring box Mitsubishi, on you a pox! Honda's bought for seeking class: better off, look for your arse for if you think this cars the trick you must be all mighty thick. The new Monaro have you seen her? have you got a lame berlina? weld up two doors then change your dash have one too for half the cash. Hilux's are for those unique a new turn to life they wish too seek it's sure to change how you are feeling when it's resting on it's ceiling Hyunadis here and everywhere when you drive one have a care if you park it at the stores try to remember which one's yours. Mercedes Benz, the German car you can buy one, if your a star they'll look at you all so waxy but in Beurit it's just a taxi a BMW's a car of class made for men that take it up the arse they equiped the fokker wulf now they equip the f**king poof. the Xtype jag for young and rich Yuppie w*nkers with attendant b**ch people buy 'em to be a lord but underneath, it's just a ford. Volvo's are a car miss-named Vulva's how they should be famed if you take the time to hunt you'll find one there with every **nt. Saab's cost heaps, to buy new front wheel drive piece of poo try to sell it the next day half the value's flown away. then there's the WRX subaru, ram raidings what they're made to do the wagon version passes the test stolen goods fit in it the best ALL in good fun! I've owned some of these myself

No doubt for me, Canberra. I've lived and driven in NSW, ACT, VIC, WA and NT. Canberrans are the most aggressive drivers I've ever met. Road rules for survival in Canberra: If you wish to change lanes DO NOT INDICATE until the last minute, better still, hit the indicator as you are changing, if you don't, whoever is in the lane next to you will speed up and block you out. Merging traffic is not about co-operation, it's a contest of wit, will and dare, it's better to stop, block the lane, run off the road or sideswipe than be behind that pushy so and so next to you... Kangaroos are moving speed bumps, just plough them down and keep going, let parks and wildlife clear the road. You should be awarded a medal for your civic mindedness, sit in the right lane and drive at the speed limit, if anyone wants to pass you, they are speeding so you are well within your rights to block them, on the tuggeranong HWY for example. P.S Apologies to rational Canberrans, it was a great place to live!

I've not been on this site long, but if you look at most of the posts people are very happy with the T, mine arrived at the dealers yesterday and I can't wait to get into it. Little things may go wrong with a new car, but hey, that's what the warranty is for :D . I don't think this car is any worse than any other new model released and I'm willing to bet it's a darn site better than some!

Ser 2 Jaguar, SD3.3 Pootrol, 1957 3.4 MK1 Jag amd a heavily modified 79 skyline L28 EFI ALL of which I still own! (My house looks like a car yard...along with the two XB's sitting there..) Can't seem to help myself! I love a well designed six so I had to get the XR6T to complete the collection... I think It's the best Australian 6 yet.

I'll bet Rowlan's right, same thing happened to me on my EFII XR6, I took the guard off as the noise was from it hitting the bonnet!

Here I am stuck at work, my car is arriving today and I can't get to Town to pick it up till Friday :( .... Then you post that  I'm going to bunk off early on Wednsday and drive my New T back :D :D
-
:( I don't know how much longer I'll be up here, the mine is shutting down... I will hopefully get a better idea next week of where Im being sent and when but hey I'm sure I can make the 5th and the T should be run in by then:D

Good point Cam, At least they could have recommended to people with the auto's to go for premium brakes.
-
Im getting my car this friday, I sprung for the premium brakes so I should be ok, but if I were having poblems, I'd be inclined to wait for ford to come to the party and fix it. (eg new rotors up to the job? better cooling? or whatever the problem is. ..) I had a similar recurrent problem with an A/C unit in my EFII, ford replaced it 3 times and gave me a commitment that if it ever broke again they'd fix it for free. I think they will look after us..... Funny how the motor writers slagged the durability of the manual but didn't comment on the brakes....A few of the articles I've read they were given the T with premium brakes, one wonderes if ford was aware of this problem earlier?

late june'd be better for me as I don't know where Im going to be in july , but I may just take some leave for this....

Cheers matchew just got a call and mine arrives on monday! Now I'm getting excited.
-
Scuze my ignorance, but scanning through the reply's, I haven't seen anyone with premium brakes with this problem. Is that so? My car is due in two weeks and I ordered the premium brakes because I had an XR before and had repeated brake problems.....I'd be a bit upset If my brakes needed machining twice before clocking up 10,000

Stevo, How RU?, I'm out at Brocks creek at the moment (working) but go on my breaks to Darwin or Katherine and if you can hold off for two weeks I'll join you for a run! Dane's the bloke handeling my car now (it's having the premium brakes fitted at the moment) but I've also spent a lot of time talking to Ray Wilson. I didn't research much, I read an article in a newspaper (In Kalgoorlie) and thought I'd like one. The stereo thing annoyed me as I don't much listen to music when I drive ( all the cars I've ever had have been throaty sixes....) and I wanted to hear the car. It was good not to have the pressure sell, I guess they don't need to, these cars sell themselves.
-
I actually ordered mine prior to the test drive but a drive was offered early in the negotiations. The bloke in NT where I ordered mine (Jimmy?) needed prodding, I told him all the options I wanted then asked him for a price, then I had to repeat myself so he could actually write them down this time....Still worked in my favour, he muffed up the price of the roof racks and I got them for a discount! Once he realized I was serious he soon got enthusiastic. Had troubles getting out of him what Premium brakes actually were " Oh, they're better than the standard brakes...." I may have even gone with the brembo's ( had an EFII XR6 and the brakes were appalling) If I'd felt he knew more about what he was talking about. During the drive he seemed really keen to keep turning up the stereo, (hiding the road noise??) Still, he did OK, sold me one in the end.......Starting to forget just how well it went.... Two more weeks to wait for delivery... Anybody want to buy a series2 jag?

Internet search after I'd bought one. Been reading and lurking for a while.....
