  1. plenty of hard lessons, :biglaugh: the corner at the end of hidden valley is no fun at all at 200kph with no brakes. been there in the the T and the EVO. std brake fluid must go. dot 4 minimum.
  2. Haltech's good in the EVO? I set up an F9A once, (Hmm 12 years ago) I imagine they've come a looong way since then, ECU is the next step for me in the IX if I want any more power out of it, it's still steetable, but starting to get all grumbly and growly.... maybe best leave it be for a bit....
  3. I did the JB course 4 years ago just after I got my T, I'd highly recommend it. Change your brake fluid over to dot4 (my fluid boiled) and open the bonnet after the hot laps, the T's get hot on the track.
  4. It's her car paid with her money..... Maybe I could ask to wear the pants for week?
  5. so $18,000 That's an absolute bargain for what you've finished up with! I love this thread...
  6. Some pic's would be nice too if possible?
  7. be nice to him, they only just got 'puter thingamys Kununurra......
  8. Yeah, well guess what I'm fabricating this weekend....
  9. It's a herb, hot as hell, used is asian cooking ( and boots of Subis) Yes Trent, I knew you wouldn't understand, sadly things you put in the back of a sedan don't just all blow out as they do in a ute.....
  10. SWMBO came home today in the Liberty STI, now, I acknowledge that it's her can n'all, but... She ran into a mate of ours who gave her some Lemongrass and it all got put in the boot... no plastic, no paper and this is what came home.... The car is ~ 1 month old now.....I wouldn't have done it to my new car.... would you?
  11. Get the Aluminum plenum cleaned up really well, then give it a quick dip in caustic soda (sugar soap), hose off clean then, spay liberally with...windex. the ammonia in the windex reacts with the aluminum and forms a good looking lasting protective surface. I did this on my L28 intake. cheaper and easier than a s/steel plenum if your after a nice look.
  12. AWD. Brian has nailed it, it's a traction issue, we all know the slow in fast out cornering theory; If you're putting 200Kw's down on two wheels, that 100KW per wheel and if the limit before you loose traction (and spin) is 80 KW, well, you back off the throttle a bit. an AWD puts the 200Kw down 50 per wheel, no loss of traction, more power down, faster round the corner. Most modern AWD's have active centre diffs that apportion the power to the wheels with the most grip, This just makes them even faster as the power goes to any of the 4 wheels that aren't slipping. Yes Oversteer is fun (but it's the slower way round a corner) funny, the EVO overdersteers with power off on a tight corner and understeers with power on. Found out why when I saw the photo's the inside rear wheel was ~ 6 inches off the ground. with all things being equal, the AWD will be quicker, no question.
  13. now that's a thread dredged from the bowels.....
  14. $9,500 for the car and what $20,000 worth of bits? I'd love to do that... (I just spent $10,000 on bits for me EVO IX to help it round the track...) rims and tread next, the current set shouldn't last to long....
  15. Update! More pics!
  16. yeah, big woop-de-do 250... I used to do that going to get milk from the corner store in the EVO.... Expensive Daewoo have always been much smarter in marketing than Ford, yet another example.
  17. do this :beerchug: then put in some ear plugs then do this don't even hear
  18. Sadly, she's starting to cotton on... The last "service" bill for the EVO for $10,000 Racing pads, New suspension, new exhaust retune... lowered.. Ralliart clutch ect ect.... "That car costs too much to service!" followed by "No you can't drive m,y new car, you'll brake it and it'll cost $10,000 to fix it. Hoist on my own petard..
  19. Back before the speed limits got restricted here, one of those was the only thing that nearly kept up with me in the EVO, I had to exceed 250 to pull away from him. I was impressed.
  20. swmbo's Outback R ran out of rego a month ago, her solution, get a new car. I'm not one to contradict such logic so off we went.... Sadly she has a looong memory so the blue oval was out of the question. She wanted another Outback, as she likes Subis... I didn't even try for a STI WRX but... The Outback, (a pretty good car) was avoided "It's a station wagon, and things from the back may fly forward and hit the baby." Thankfully that saved us from the indignity of a Tribeca also (cold shivers and vomit) so then there's the Liberty, the pram was inserted and removed from the boot (it fits easier into the EVO believe it or not) the base model Lib was a bit slow, the Bspec with the 3 ltr engine was pretty nice but there in the show room was an sti liberty limited edition it's 48 of 250 built (2.5 turbo sti modded) 18's and all the fruit so I says...Gee, you'd really want the one with the good Brakes (Brembos) get the sti....It's safer for the baby. see pic
  21. Or how about fighting back against the "Speed Kills" BS we get rammed down outr throats on a daily basis. At least some commentary that doesn't tow the party line... Your right a wee bit of contoversy would do them the world of good.
  22. We're after an Aussie Icon not an Aussie Moron Easy mistake... P.S...miss me?
  23. Is there a race on today?
  24. I'll Wait and see then..... But if it were a pss-take why all the ford v Expensive Daewoo promo?
