  1. when I was a kid, we had people next door with a similar dog, my old man programed thier phone number into speed dial and would call them after 10mins of barking and say "scuze me, but your dog is barking..." he did this any time of the day or night.
  2. We all have fast cars here and we all like to "give it a squirt" now and then, you haven't mentioned the speed you were going, but I'm pretty certain before they got rid of open limits in the NT I'd have done a similar speed, speed. Often people say keep it on the track, I'll +1 that...Anyone who wants to should go to the track, they hold meetings once a month here in teeny tiny little Darwin and all you need is licence a car and a helmet, It's safe, there are great people to meet and everyone is really helpfull to the noobs. 1 day on the track gets me my fix and keeps me within the limit (mostly) but I guess I'd qualify as an old fart here, in my younger days I didn't drive without speeding...... 3 times I stood in court swearing I'd never return and back in my youth, if anyone deserved to loose thier licence, it was me, times have changed...I got done at 160 in a 100k zone and got only a fine....Comunity sentiment is against this and as owners of quick cars we need to respect the comunity, weather we agree with the laws or not. SO you have both my sympathy and respect, airing this on the forum is both a good thing and a gutsy move, I'll be keeping my speed down!
  3. I'm dubious of anything with a preffix of "Eco" or "Econo" Keep the I6, nothing wrong with an iron block.
  4. Nope, You can get them in the NT as well.
  5. The missus is an effective speed limiting device, but what's really slowed me down is having a kid. I'm often one of the slower cars on the road now.
  6. 0.8% increase in RWHP on a NA....(well within dyno error range) No sir, I don't like it.
  7. To counteract the effects of your link dags, have a look at this crazy project I'm not into lumping per-se (putting an alternate engine into a jag) but there sure are some neat projects being undertaken......
  8. why the assumption that speed=stupidity?

    Home Brew Beer

 and don't try and "boost" the alcohol content by adding extra sugar, if you follow the instructions you'll wind up with a tasty brew you can drink, I love the coopers but there's plenty of others out there that are good too.
  10. Nope on a public road, I even posted up a shot of the speedo here somewhere... Back when the NT was open-limit.
  11. Pah! If 230 is the fatsest speed anyone's been booked doing in WA then they aren't trying very hard, a std BA T is good for 240. I've done 267 in my EVO
  12. lol yeah ok, I remember when 185 KW was big numbers for the HSV and now you get more in a taxi.
  13. Hey you listen up young fella... We weren't always pissed as farts!
  14. Huh? Not many rexxes or evo's get "mopped" by taxis.....
  15. What's this country comming to? If P platers want twin turbo v8's let them have 'em.
  16. Back in my day......it was torries, xb's and kingswood 253's All full of kids just as silly and just as (presumeably) bullet-proof. They'll grow up and get old and complain about the youth doing the same thing in 20 or so years time, so take heart, thier turn will come.
  17. yep, I read the specs for the oil-burner..Oops!
  18. senna: Yes large quantities of coopers are assisting with the repairs...I needed empty bottles for bleeding the brakes.. Fordboy: No just a "running restoration" (I'm restoring, my bank account is running out of money) Rhino: Yes lots of fun with Lucas, the lord of darkness, Thankfully though I don't have the Marinelli ignition to contend with! Hmm yes...If was going to put an induction system on, I'd be really tempted to chuck a couple of turbo's into the mix and keep it all under the bonnet. Tim: The roof is in excellent condition, I've kept it under cover and theres no bubbling under there, but even if there was, I'd strip it, and re-do the vinyl, it just looks good on the car (and best to keep it original, it's 1 of 2500 made in 76) Had her running on all twelve today, glorious, went for a quick drive around the block, still heaps to do before I can get it rego'd but I'm making progress! here's a shot of the rear calipers all re-sleved and re-sealed, NB that the handbrake works on seperate calipers fitted ABOVE the main calipers, and I thought the japs were bad at putting bolts in impossible paces! here's the front, four pots per side, nice and beefy. Note the empty bottle to assist in bleeding (and maintaing sanity)
  19. Had an engine fire yesterday....The fuel pump relay has the pump running all the time, fuel running out the cold start injectors and out of the airfilters, backfire...hey presto! fire. Lucky there was a hose handy, no damage done, good fire though!
  20. 0-100kph 6.4 sec.....a bit slow I think.
  21. Are all 4 bald? Just swap the fronts to the back, wet season is a long way off and the NT cops only look at your backs anyways...lol
  22. Hmmm, Not a particularly well thought out plan moriarty.... A mate of a mate...(yeah I know....) speaks of guys in melb who remove thier plates and do silly things till the cops chase them, then they get away... Do people REALLY do this?? (they use a rexxies.)
  23. Know what you mean, when I took my T to a track day I boiled the brake fluid. Drain it and put some higher spec fluid in, a stock manual t is good for 3 hard laps at hidden valley, then the brake fluid boils and / or the overheat light comes on, killing all the fun. Can't Imagine how the brakes would like pulling a t up that's been worked, you'd be easily topping 230 at the end of the straight..... Before I changed the pads and fluid in the EVO I could only get 5 hard laps in before brake fade....Brembo's with mitzi fluid...go figure.
