when the XR6T came out I went in and bought one, what a fantastic Idea, 4.0 ltr turbo, what a rush to drive. I did love the car, but after the third time the turbo broke the second time the diff let go and with fifth gear on the way out, it just kind of lost the attraction. (I don't think this was a result as any deficiencies in the T, just the result of the rejects ford use for a service dept up here) I drove my T in to trade up to a phoon but the way the sales staff treated me I left ford not wanting to be up on assault charges (yes, I nearly snotted a salesman) I drove the T round to Mitsi, they had an EVO there I found out that even at 6"4 I fit easily. The ralliart dealer was excellent and gave me a trade-in on the T $10,000 more than ford was offering. I signed then and there. A phoon would be the better car for long-distance cruising, but (at the risk of offending...but sorry it's true...) The EVO eats them alive around the track, it's got a 10 year warranty and out-brakes / out-handles just about anything on the road, even a mong driver like me can be competitive round the track.... The Evo has 16,000K's on the clock now and has never missed a beat, It sits on the road at 250 like the T did at 180, It handles like a go-kart and You can get Ralliart to modify and keep your warranty. So far I've had the ECU and fuel pump done, next is the exhaust and filter, this should see ~250KW off the flywheel and will make for a serious track-day car. Happy with the EVO and would do it all over again.
