  1. It depends how fast you want to go, I had one go soft due to road heat and it peeled off at high speed (very). Without it I had no problems if travelling under 120 but when you used to be able to go faster in the NT I found the front bumper flapped a bit without it once over 140. I had it replaced and the front was all sweet.
  2. Looks like you're close. Got wheels magazine today and they're quoting the following for the ORION: XR6t 260KW XR8 280KW F6 300KW and GT 320KW The HP war continues
  3. I got a "grasshopper stopper" after driving through plagues between Darwin and Brissi. At 180 you pass over them before they jump, at 120 they create a green paint job. The Norwegian backpackers got more than they bargained for when I got my $20 external clean at the K-mart car park near the Gold Coast. The smell of frying grasshopper stayed for 3 months though.
  4. My girlfriend was the last to drive it and she's worried an engagement will not be coming in the short term. My first thought was that the typical BA handbrake had failed and it would be down the street. Well GIO has given me a Hiundai Getz for a fortnight, the blokes at work loved it! I had a look at the motorshow tonight and was surprised to see the 1.6 has 78KW Mine however is the 1.4 auto, lots of fat-arm cruising at a casual pace.
  5. Only looked at a few websites so far. I'm still deciding but if a get another performance car it'll be on the cards.
  6. Thanks for the replies guys, I thought about a GPS tracker for the next one and will talk to a cop mate about it. I still have both sets of keys! I expect to be in the market for another T soon (maybe premium sound this time), I still have the CAPA at work so it'll no doubt get another use in the near future. Cheers
  7. My pride and joy was stolen from out the front of the house (Caulfield North) last night between 11pm and 1am. What a killer. It's easy to spot as it's Mercury Silver, standard looking but probably the only one with Northern Territory plates (665202) in Melbourne. I'm hoping it was joy riders but expect it was targeted, probably dragged onto a flatbed truck. I don't expect to see it again. Is there a way thieves can get past the immobiliser when stealing off the street? What is the best protection device to prevent it happening again?
  8. I put Maxxis on the Mrs BA MKI after the factory wore out after only 40kms. She doesn't drive hard or anything. Put them on for around $160 a corner and never looked back. Great in the dry, even better in wet, unlike the Dunlops. Maxxis gets my vote. ← I've tried the original dunlops, Narva (They were well below par, became feathered and noisy, sounded like blown wheel bearing) and now the Maxxis MA V1. The Maxxis were by far the best budget tyre of the three, fairly quiet and perform as per above. They are also on the 17" rim you're after. Good luck
  9. I forgat to add, had an upgrade done at NIZPRO and was losing about 5% max power potential due to cat converter clogging.
  10. There are a few BA XR6 taxis driving around Melbourne. I've jumped in one with 400k and asked what routinely needs fixing/replacing. Reply was: Brakes Radiator Bushes in rear end. I quizzed him about transmission and rear diff and he reckoned there still hadn't been any probs yet. I was surprised given the EF used to need a transmission at about 250k and diff at 400K. Only a one off but could give an indication. My XR6T has done 100k, most of it Darwin to NSW, Qld and Vic return. About 20-25k pushing high speed in the NT (That fun's over now ). I've replaced the diff at 70k, rear bushes and had the brakes machined at 90k. Get NRMA/RACQ/AANT etc to check history of veh for you (about $150)
