  1. Buy is an interesting situation at the moment, as I am sure all can see. On one side you have the media, politions and masses who have been fed propoganda that any money invested in the sharemarket will be lost. But this is not the case. The majority of mum and dad investors invest under poor advice or on a hunch, a tip from a neighbour or raw emotion. This is like a lottery yes. But Warren Buffet, the most successful trader ever, has always stood by the idea tht you should invest in what you know and understand. Did he buy in the dot.com boomno, he didnt understand how companies with no assets were worth millions of dollars, that all came crashing down, caused largely by uneducated investors looking to make fast money in companies which they have no idea about, in the long run it is proven that this doesent work. This becomes like the lottery. And the same people wwre putting outdooms day senarios then, but hey we survived. Look at just this week, buffet is back into the market, and buying up.3bn in ge this week, and others. This is significant, as people take notice. I think this may lead to more investment next week as people follow his lead. I will agree that the global economy has been poorly managed and dued to greed and excessive levels of debt we are in trouble, but seriously why do people listen and believe everything they learn in the media. I personally believe that what happens in asia is far more important now, and that that the markets wont be the same for some time, But dooms days senarios etc are enough to make you laugh, and I think that in the long term, you will see the cycle continue and the economy will be in the same state it was before, it is just simple economics. Just dont look at your super accounts, and enjoy the last rate cut and watch from a far as we cant change what happens no matter how much we want to.
  2. At the moment I like Onituka Tiger, made by asics heaps comfy, think 120 is what u can get them for but the will try at some places for 180. I like lacoste to but there expensive if not on special like 200+
  3. Thanks mate appreciate it
  4. Sorry mate hould have proof read, was watching the footy, Was number plate ARI xxx, just wondering if it wasnt an insurance company selling it as it had a little body damage at front, and its level of mods I thought might have been somone from the foums car
  5. Looking for a new car, smaller one to save on fuel through the week, and stopped by auction today and just wondering what u should actually be looking for?? While I was there I saw two xr6turbos, one was grey and stock I think 04 or 05, and it went for 16000, I was shocked someone got a great buy, and there was a blue one ari nukber plate and it looked modded but didnt see what it went for, just wondering what exactly I should be checking out on small cars at the auctions?? thanks
  6. Basicially thr american economy is about to/on verge of a recession, and the only way that the US reserve thinks it can stop it is by decreasing rates, which encourages ppl to borrow more, therefore spend more, leading to increased economic activity and therefore higher employment etc, hopefully heading off a recession. In Australia it is a different story entirely, the australian economy has had more than a decade of economic growth, and now has an inflation problem, and if inflation is not controlled we will all end up paying 5 dollars a loaf of bread, an 5 dollars a litre of milk, not good. Think of it as if rates were 1% everyone would borrow, buy investement houses, stocks, that plasma tv you can now afford and that R-spec phoon you wanteed, but at 8% you are not, you are more likely to put your money in the bank earn the interest and save it for a rainy day. This is exactly what the AUS reserve is trying to acheive at the moment and is why there is a large possiblilty of another rate rise in Feb/March. But worst thing is this, the goverentment promised all the F*#king tax cuts, which is going to further fuel inflation, leading to another rate rise, so that tax cut we all get goes straight to lending instutions, crap isant it, why dont they just give it to hosppitals, roads, schools, because they wanted to win the election. Thanx for listening to my rant been brewing for a while lol
  7. You have made a good choice there, nice bike. Giant is best value for money, and also people tend to forget specialized, can be expensive but good bikes and a mate just bought a diamond back and I was suprised with how good the bike is. Also second hand bikes, like cars are great value, more so with bikes, as people decide to get into the sport then change there minds, and sell an almost new bike, on the cheap, so if u know what your looking for this can work out. Trails in sydney I not sure mate, I ride in wollongong mainly atm, but I will ask around, have a few mates who might know, but I am sure there will be a guide on the net, or the local bike shop, where you get the bike from shoud tell you. Congrats and enjoy the bike PS: By gloves before u go bush, or u will regret it
  8. Mate I wouldnt be worried if I were u, unless you are intending to ride on some reasonable steep terrain, and even still your cables will be good enough, just make sure you maintain and check the cables. You are getitng all the benifits of discs so you made a good choice there. The hydraulics are good for a few reasons, they are more reliable as it is harder for dirt etc to get into the lines, where cables are open and exposed, hence why maintainence is essential and if done you should be fine, hydraulics are good if you are doing heavy braking often, more reliable and again less likely to break. Hydraulics require less effort from your hands on lever to get adequate braking, which might not sound important, but if you are breaking heavily for long periods you will be glad. IMO though you shouldnt be worried, your cables sound more than adequate for your purpose, and for most riders uses. The size of discs and quality of pads are also heaps important so check out those. Hydraulics are also more expensive, so that's a draw back, so if they arent essential you may get away with cables. I personally only run front hydraulic disc brakes and run rim brakes on the back, so if you ride sensibly you should be sweet with whatever brakes you have.
  9. I ride bikes, have a few in garage, my fav is my santa cruz, bit out of your pice range, but the best bikes on the market by far for quality and value for money would be giant. If I were you I would be focusing on the shocks and gears, and as has been stated if u get discs, make sure ar hydraulic. You should only get a hard tail also, as are heaps easier to ride on the road, and lock out front shocks are unreal, and if you dont get them u will regret it, trust me I do everytime I ride lol. The bike market is a buyer market and there are huge varieties for between 500-1k, so if u go with a reputable brand you should be fine
  10. I would really like to see them try this, as if u driving a 5k bomb, it gets crushed, basicially a 5 k fine, but a 50k phoon that's a big fine, maybe biggest fine for an offence I have herd of, but even worse, a bmw, merc, audi, or even porche or ferrari, what happens then, they crush your 300k+ car, that's a big fine. if they r goign to do this, I think the rules r going to have to become very specific, or we may have some law suits
  11. anyone on here who has had a first hand experience with terrorissm I am sure would support the afp actions. I was in bali for the second attacks, and was behind the matahari which was bombed, and it was scary, and I never wanna go through something like that again. Whats worse was seeing all the young kids and families from australia, who had lost parents and friends, I was devestated from seeing this. I would rather something like haneef happen that seeing this happen in australia, and anyone who has seen terrorism first hand would agree, IMO
  12. Do any of u terrorists sceptics actually no if there is or isant a terrorist threat? or is this simply an assumption that u have made up.Did the us think it was a target b4 9/11. I think that there has to be some level of prevention, and the threat must be there for a govt to spend countless millions on intelligence and anti terrorists activities. Be good if someone on here worked for asio, but even then we wouldnt get a difinitive answer, why, because u really think this organisation which shares info with the us and european intelligence organisations would tell us everything they know, please, but everyone is entitled to an opinion, and live there lives how they wish
  13. hey I drive a mk 11 futura, bout 60/40 split in favour of highway, and on an 80 000k avg I have 10.8l/100k avg and that's just checked, hope hat helps, ps it doesent always get driven soft but most of time lol
