  1. Ahh, you mean intake manifold, I'll try and remember to do that, but I haven't taken the intake manifold apart, I just pulled the whole thing off the head in one piece!
  2. Wow, lots of interest! Thanks guys, I'm doing pistons, rods and valve springs, actuator and brakes (as you can see) I've already got a PWR intercooler, which I am half cranky about, cos now I have to get a new crossover section made up (hint hint) to get max power out of it. The engine bores, pistons and rods were actually in really good nick (pistons and rods are for sale by the way ) - sorry no photos of the bores before I sent it to get cleaned up! They has no marks on them though and the bearings were ok, piston rings were fine, all this after probably 10 months running a generic CAPA 8psi tune! I get the block, crank and head back tomorrow, and I'll start putting it all back together thursday/friday/saturday and take a nice long run-in drive to canberra! I'm a bit dissapointed with Xtreme Clutch as I put one in with their flywheel while running standard power and it crapped itself after about 500k's they are replacing it and I should have it back on friday, if not I'll keep you all updated!
  3. I've seen this done plentyof times, do it on your standard one, then after a while you can upgrade to a bigger ceramic coated one!
  4. Well Here's a few shots of whats been happening with my car this week: I'll post again when I get the engine in!
  5. yeah, but you know its done! And if the engine bay ever gets a clean up, it will be one less thing to do!

  10. My block is being prepped at the moment for Atomic Rods and Atomic/Mahle Pistons, I'll let you guys know how they endup, by the way, has anyone noticed how light the Mahle pistons are? Is this the norm for pistons, or are these just specially light?
  11. So what have we learned here? Don't take your car back there! I think you've worked that one out already though! If you need anything donewith a service dept let me know, as I said early, I'm more than happy to make sure you are looked after
  12. Thanks for the input aa, I'm getting the engine builder to paint it, so I would say he'll do the right thing!
  13. All dealers keep records of R/O's or "repair orders" as you say, without the records they can't keep track of anything, didn't they give you an invoice for the servicing? did you have to sign anything? Sounds a bit stupid to me!
  14. Hey BFHOON, myself and a couple of matees are building my engine, but the machining is getting done at Westend Performance, they are going to make sure the clearances are right and the crank is balanced with the rods and pistons. Oh and I'm getting them to paint the block while its there, otherwise the paint will be wet while I try to put it back together! Anyway, I'll post up a quick story about the build soon, as the sig says, the engine goes back in on Friday!
  15. you're so right, if I didn't I'd look at it every day and kick myself!
  16. thanks for the fast reply ZAP, I'll ring the machine shop tomorrow and ask him how much and if he will do it, I just don't have enough time to paint it then wait for drying! Also, what sort of prep would be required? Sanding?
  17. Ok guys, I've got the block out and at the machine shop, should I paint the block? My car is Silhouette, I was thinking paint the block black too? Give me some ideas!
  18. lol, you'll have to get used to letting go of that hard earned stuff once you catch the mod bug! have fun
  19. Both the FPV Tickford Club and HSV Club Boycotted the event this year because the organisers said they couldn't do a parade lap if the vehicle was built after 1985 or something like that, I also heard that it was only Brock SPecials allowed on track, how did this go?
