  1. I wonder why that would be the case? I can't understand why it would do that. I wonder if it's unique to the "pod-in-a-box" or if it would do that with all pod filter set ups (I.e Nizpro, APS, G&D ect).
  2. It depends what you are planning to do. If you're only doing a few little mods like F6 snorkels and a tune then I would go the 2.5" system. If you are drag racing then the first mod youd want is 4.11s, which on an N/A with a 3" would more than compensate for the loss down low. For optimum benefit of a 3" I'd want 4.11s with a hi stall if auto, and a minimum of an edit, CAI of some description. Underdrives would also be beneficial too. But as mentioned before, drag racing, go the 3" but make sure you get 4.11s and a good tune as well or you will go no where.
  3. It depends what you're after exactly. A pod by itself in the engine bay WILL send you backwards. A small pod like the K&N xtrem mounted in your airbox would definitly see a gain, especially with an F6 lower snorkel as well. Whether there would be much more of a gain than the equivalent with a K&N or BMC panel filter, I could not tell you. Induction noise would definitly be better though. Keeping the CAI on the passanger side, you could always use a G&D airbox which uses a large K&N pod filter, or if you go with an APS Phase III or Nizpro stage II you would need their airbox with a large pod also. As long as the pod is encaptulated in something and isn't sucking in hot air from the engine bay you should see some sort of gain.
  4. I just heard that Difilpo make a 3.5" system for the Turbos. Apparantly they've been out for a little while, but theres nothing on the website (doesn't look like it's been updated for years) it just has the 3" system. From what I've heard, the 3" system isn't much better than stock! But a 3.5" system? Now that's got me interested. I'm assuming it would have a 3.5" cat too? Are Difilipo cats ceramic or metal? What is the price of this unit? Does anyone have one or has heard one? Cheers
  5. What's the best performance kit under 10k? If it was me, Id be in the market for one of 3 kits: APS Phase III with Siemens deka 600lb injectors and and edit instead of a unichip. All up would come around 9.5k give or take a few 100 bucks. Nizpro stage II + Walbro pump and a full X Force system 4" dump/cat and 3.5single/twin 2.5 catback. Now, the last kit is a hybrid kit that G&D could do which comrpises of the following: Full custom tune Siemens injectors (60lb) Bosch 044 pump with surge tank 3.5" dump, 3.5" metal cat and twin 2.5 remus catback AVO intercooler kit G&D airbox Ported wastegate + acutator and larger swing valve That would all come to around 10k I would have thought. All kits similar priced and all would get a Turbo or typhoon down the strip in mid 11's on street setup. Which would be the best kit in everyones opinion?
  6. They aren't the cheapest but then they are $100 cheaper for a flash tuner and 3 custom tunes at $1890 compared to Nizpro at $1995 if I remember correctly.
  7. What a weapon. Don't suppose you'd be able to fill us in on the technical details of your car marv?
  8. Why don't they recommend them? Do they think the oil pump gear are suspect at higer power levels? Or do they think it will affect the internal engine balance? I would have thought that the latter would have been detrimental to all engines.
  9. I'm guessing no one has fitted them then? A few of the N/A guys have, with mixed sentiments, but all agree it made some improvement. I will be looking at getting them for my N/A 6 very soon. Would have been nice to have heard about results/opinions of them on the Turbos though.
  10. There will be a black 5 speed N/A XR6 from SA hunting down the JMM mobile in the not too distant future. Having got a 14.8 with a Dev 3 kit, and 95mph as the highest, I find it strange how jmm get a 1.9 60 footer and 99mph. All that with just a stock clutch and 3.45 gears with an LSD. If I got enough taction to get 1.9 60 footers, the stock clutch would fry. Theres a lot of incosistencies with JMM and their times.
  11. Why would anyone bother putting a 3" single on a T? Of course it wouldn't flow more than 270-280rwkw. The stock system is a 2.25" system which flow mroe than a single 3". It's good for around the same, 270-280rwkw before a larger system is required. I'm sure you could still run more through it, as a lot of people have, but I'd say for every kw extra you'd get out of it over about 280rwkw, you'd gain 2 rwkw with a larger less restrictive system. You'd need more boost to run the same power through a smaller exhaust.
  12. Looking at doing a semi custom exhaust to our N/A XR6. Ceramic coated Pacie comps, 3" Cell density metalic substrate magnaflow cat, and an Xr6T cat back. From what I've read the XR6T catback flows to 560cfm, and the cat I want flow very close to 600cfm. How restrictive are the mufflers? Ive seen XR6T's run 270rwkw without any trouble, which is way more than any N/A will do. But if I got rid of the factory mufflers with some straight thru, how much more would the factory system flow? I'm Guessing the mufflers would be the most restrictive part. Would anyone bother replacing both centre and rear mufflers with some straight thru, or should I not bother, save some money and just rip the centres out and replace them with hotdogs like a lot of you folk on here do with your mildly worked T's?
  13. that's awesome work mate. I'm with Doogs, if you wanted to make a couple of these up I will buy one in a heart beat. I'm dead serious!
  14. MKII has the same valve springs as the F6 so I wouldn't think they would need to be replaced until you're well over 300rwkw. The most important mods are the flash box, a set of injectors and a cat that flows atleast as well as the stock exhaust (570cfm around). If the budget stretches further, a full exhaust would be beneficial. I would also recommend fitting a larger intercooler, upgraded fuel pump (walbro intank), and an F6 lower snorkel with a BMC filter.
  15. Yeah I know what you mean mate. We've got an N/A 6 but a Turbo or Typhoon will be the next car!
  16. Simple: flow is proportional to diameter squared. 2x(2.5)^2 = 12.5 > (3.5)^2 = 12.25 Not much in, but twin system flows a poofteenth more. ← How much is the full systems supplied and fitted? Both have 4 inch cat and dump?
  17. Which freaks? The freaks that run 12's stock, or the freaks that try to take you on in their LS1s at the lights and get creamed?
  18. I've been told X Force have recently released two full exhaust systems, both comprising of a 4" dump pipe and cat. One system utilises their traditional 3.5" ingle system, and the other whcih has only come to my attention over the last week is a new twin 2.5" system. Which system would be their top of the range? I've forgotten the formula to calculate whether a twin 2.5" pipe would have a single circumference larger than that of a 3.5" pipe but my guess would be that the twin might just outflow the singe. I'm curious about prices and experiences with either of these systems. Cheers
  19. You can run anything through anything and get an increase in power. A mate of mine has a 9psi vortech blower on a 95 EF XR8. Car is stock as a rock and went from 127rwkw to 191rwkw. Does this mean that his HO manifold, 55mm MAF, E7 heads and standard cast exhaust manifolds were not restricting his power just because he could run a certain number higher than factory? I'm not having a go at you here, but I've seen and read about people running 330rwkw+ through a stock XR6T exhaust with only mod being a cat. People automatically then assume that the exhaust is not restrictive. Sure it's a great exhaust from factory, but replace said 330rwkw vehicle with factory exhaust to a quality brand unit (APS, Nizpro ect) and watch the power rise with less stress on the engine by pushing the same amount of gasses through larger diamater pipes. The same theroy applies with intercoolers. Just because the monza cooler is fitted to a car making a high level of power, doesn't mean that the cooler is not out of it's efficient operating range. I'd be betting at 350rwkw, if you just changed the cooler alone to a larger quality brand unit, you would see a massive gain. At that power you wouldn't get any lag associated with larger coolers either. Now I'm not having a go at the Monza cooler as I think it's a good value budget replacement cooler. I would just be worried about compromising my engines longevity running high boost levels with a cooler that is out of it's optimal operating capicity just to save a few 100 bucks.
  20. Underdrive pullies have been available on the V8s for years with great success. They've only recently been available on the BA/BF sixes. I know of a few guys with N/A sixes who've fitted them with, all with mixed sentiments. From what I've heard, they provide around about a 6rwkw gain on the sixes. But the real point of them is not the extra power provided, but the way they make the engine rev quicker. I would have thought that this alone would be well worthwhile for the Ts to get them on boost quicker. I don't know about reliability. I know they've caused a few problems on the BOSS V8s with oil pump gears failing. From what I've read the sixes aren't immune to oil pump failures either. And with the sixes having an even longer crank than the 8s, I would say internal engine balancing of this engine would be vital and also tempremental. Anyway, I'm just looking for opinions of this mod whether it's worth it for the money, whether it would cause any reliability issues, and if anyone has them, what you throughts/sentiments are.

    Hi

Hi guys Just introducing myself to this great forum. I heard about this forum through AFF and thought I'd pop over and have a look and liked it so I joined. I don't have a Turbo/F6 at the moment but I'm hoping that that can change soon enough. Typhoons are just horn, they are also the only BA/BF I havn't actually had the chance to drive! Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read my boring thread just as I have taken the time to read a lot of the wealth of information supplied on a website dedicated to arguably the best Ford of all time. Cheers
