  1. I've heard that the record has been broken. Any confirmation?
  2. You wouldn't happen to have pictures of your snorkel and fitted to the car would you Grudgee??
  3. How far in from the headlight does the snorkel sit when fitted to a Territory? On the sedans the snorkel sits flush under the headlight and gets air directly in behind the bumper, but from looking at it on the Territory the airbox sits a lot further back in the engine bay. Will the snorkel not even fit if it's fitted the conventional way? I wasn't sure whether I would fit the snorkel myself by cutting the airbox or get it done when I get all my other mods all at once. Either way it's good info to know.
  4. I'd like to take it down the track at some stage, but probaby won't happen for a while. There is no track here in Adeaide, and it's a PITA to go to Victoria just for a few runs down the strip. Next time I'm in Melbourne I might consider it, but I never usually have any spare time when I'm interstate. As for heat soak, I'd only ever race it in winter, so hopefully that'll be less of an issue. And besides, the last time I raced at Calder (2004) I was waiting over an hour for each run, and that was before some POS dropped their bundle (of oil) all over the track! As for the missus, she's been the one saying that it's too slow and needs some more balls!
  5. I know that the current top mount cooler isn't the best but neither is the standard XR6T cooler. Would a lower temp thermostat hep with heat soak?
  6. I hadn't checked out the size of the diff yet, maybe I'll get underneath and have a look tonight when the missus gets home. One thing that's interesting though is that some dude's been running low 11s and I don't think he's busted anything in the AWD system yet? He'd be running a lot more power than I would. I'll also have to check whether the guy who told me "280kw at the wheels" remembered it was AWD. It might be closer to 250rwkw on a safe tune with approx 40% drivetrain power loss with an AWD. I did emphasise I wanted a safe tune as I don't want a busted engine.
  7. Hi I've been doing a lot of reading on here and AFF and I have come to the conclusion that I will do the following mods. I have been quoted 3k and told to expect aprox 280awkw. Flashbox - $500 3x Custom Tune - $1000 NGK plugs gapped - $120 (inc fitment) Injectors - $660 (inc fitment) BMC filter - $170 F6 lower snorkel - $80 (inc fitment) 3.5" metal cat - $400 (inc fitment) Bung removal - $70 TOTAL - $ 3,000 inc GST
  8. Remember that the XR6T runs a different diff to the N/A 6 so the CVs will not be a straight bolt in. Chances are you've got a 2 pinion NON LSD so it's about the worst it could be. If you optioned the LSD from factory it will still be a weak 2 pinion setup that will NOT last with XR6T power. Your best bet is to either get the diff rebuilt with 4 pinion gears (Still won't fit XR6T CVs and still will probably fail with much more power than a stock XR6T) or IMO the ony real option is to get yourself an M86 diff out of a BA MKII or later MANUAL XR6T which has 3.73 gears that way you can source drive shafts for it or get them with the diff if available.
  9. How did the clutch feel? Do they still come with an AP Racing Twin Plate clutch? Dissapointing to hear is handled "like a boat" consdering from all other reports they handle great. Maybe FPV need an R spec FG F6! The steering wheel looks like it shoud be on the XRs, I wonder if there's an optional FPV/Sports wheel? If there is it's dissapointing that it doesn't come standard on all the FPV range, and if there isn't then that's just dissapointing full stop!
  10. Hate to be the fun police but I must inform you that the RS will only come in FWD and highly unlikely to be imported by FPV. http://cars.uk.msn.com/News/car_news_artic...umentid=8573084
  11. Personally I wouldn't go near Herrod. I have read too many horror stories over on the other forums about him. A lot of their products are just rebranded products with a big mark up. Their exhaust and twin cat is from an exhaust mob in Sydney (can't remember the name). Simon (Xtreme F6) flow tested it if I remember correctly and from memory it only flowed about 630cfm. In other words, it didn't flow much more than a good 3" metal core cat, so it's definitely not worth the money.
  12. Did they look at it or did you just speak to them? If you only spoke to them they'd be pretty loathe to speculate at that point. My guess is the high pressure hose is leaking. Mine went twice under warrantly on the BA and the last one that went was out of warranty. I replaced it with a reco'd enzed unit. A year later and no dramas from the hose, but now the pump is actually leaking so I'll need to replace that.
  13. Does your option 5 and 6 twin plate clutch rattle? I have not heard of one aftermarket twin plate clutch (AP racing is not aftermarket) that doesn't rattle when the pedal is pushed in.
  14. As others have stated, there is a TSB to rectify this issue. The issue is caused primarily by a burr on the mounting face of the cross member where rack locates. To fix the problem correctly you must first ascertain whether there is a burr on the mounting face (RHS). If there is a burr around the stud you'll need the chamfer it off using a small file/rasp to make it smooth. This will require the rack bolts to be removed and the rack pulled back as far as possible of removing the rack is not possible. Ford fit a shim in between the cross member and the rack which helps but the main thing is to get the burr out. You can put a smear of grease around the mouting face before refitting the rack but DO NO PUT ON TOO MUCH GREASE!! Retorque rack nuts to 80nm. If that doesn't fix it then you've got a problem elsewhere. I would start looking at ball joints....
  15. Well an egas short motor should be perfect for the N/A pilot then! Should be cheaper than an F6 short motor as well I would have thought?
  16. Does anyone know what the comp ratio for an LPG engine is? This might be a much better option as a short motor if the compression is the same as an N/A as it uses the same internals as an F6 I am fairly sure?
  17. Hi mate. I got a rip shift in my 5 speed (T5Z) and it has a rumble below 2000rpm. I sounds like some insulation has been removed from around the cnetre console area. Apart form the noise it's a brilliant peice of equiptment. I'm curious as to how good the Mal Wood unit is compared to the rip shift.
  18. Yes, Orion series 1. Series 2 Orion should see the V6 and new BOSS (Hurricane) V8s. So I'd be getting a runout BFII or series 1 Orion Typhoon. I think come December 2009 someone looking for a Typhoon xmas present might have all their xmas' come at once with the discounting I assume they'll be doing.
  19. Very sad news indeed for both enthusiests and the 600 workers who will lose their job. I'm going to miss the trusty I6 engine. This new V6 might be a brilliantly engineered thing, it might make more peak power and rev silky smooth, but ultimately it will be down on torque, and more importantly low down torque. One of the things I love about the I6 is that they just feel like they has character. Compared to an Sv6, those engines rev hard and make decent power up top when you wring their necks, but nothing short of very short gearig will get them off the line fast, or pull a big load effortlessly between gears. I hope the twin force does NOT have a big turbo/small turbo feature. I think two medium sized turbos will suffice, with short plubing and a decent intake setup, it should be a good thing. I hope it an be rebuilt though, unlike what another member suggested, that these engines can not be re sleaved, honed out ect. My Final concern is about the transmissions. From what I've read, a 6 speed trans has been built in conjuction with this engine. To me, that means no ZF for us. The trans is supposed to have been built by getrag, another german company with a good reputation, so it might not be too bad. I guess we will have to wait and see. Guys, get yourself a runout BFII Typhoon with a ZF trans. Get Nizpro or whoever to turn up the wick on this bad boy. Just incase this new engine will be a flop, you'll have something out the back in the form of therapy to reminise about when times were better.
  20. 110kw in a car that's a good few 100kg lighter than a Focus... I reckon that equates to pretty good performance, worthy of the XR name plate IMO. All Ford have done is rebadge the Focus and Fiesta ST's as XR5 and XR4 respecitively. This still leaves scope for future models ti be released and then rebadged under the FPV umbrella.
  21. Most of the BOSS guys over on AFF would disagree with you on that one!
  22. That's pretty expensive then! An X force 3.5" or twin 2.5" system with a 4" dump and metal cat is around $1600 I think. KPM premium exhaust also with a 3.5" full system (dump, metal cat and cat bacl all in stainless steel) costs about $100 more than that.
  23. 1kw at the rear wheels is bugger all and would never be felt driving in the real world. That's not to discredit it though, as you still did get a gain. Have you done any other CAI modifications? I would think that the filter would compliment any additional mods done in this area more than it would if the intak it standard.
  24. Excuse my ignorance, but how do you know the cat is too restrictive? What have you done to come to this conclusion? Do you know if their cat is metal or ceramic core? If it's ceramic core then I can understand that it would be more restrictive, but that would baffle me as to why they would make a "high flow cat" with a ceramic core. It's dissapointing to hear that the difilipo turbo exhaust isn't of good quality and performance as the BOSS V8 one is considered the best in the business. They aren't bloody cheap either, I don't know if you want to go into what you paid but I heard the Turbo exhaust in 3.5" was WELL over 2k.
  25. I think someone has "lead" him astray LOL!
