  1. Driver Mike Neff took one of John Force's fuel funny cars to the semis at the Gateway Nationals in St. Louis Missouri last weekend..... For those who dont understand the significance of this..... It was not only the first "round" win for the car but also the first semi final appearance for the test car fitted with the new Ford "Boss 500" nitro engine that John Force Racing and the Ford Motor Company have been developing for some time now. In a sport that has been dominated by the Chrysler Hemi for 40 odd years now, this is like a breath of fresh air
  2. Sorry guys...but Im out...got informed on the weekend that my presence is required at the Sport Compact race at WSID on the 18th.....ugh. Hope everyone has a good time at Bathurst anyway.....
  3. Ain't that the truth...at last count....it will cost you around 2-3 million bucks to follow the NHRA trail for a season with just one top fuel car.....multiple teams go up from there Santo had an expensive weekend too.....we had Dobson in the shutdown area with rods hanging out all over the place on one pass and on the next one......a 7 grand billet blower reduced to shrapnel....ouch. Martin Stamatis ran 4.57...then came past me in the braking area on three wheels after running 500+ kph at the finish line...man, that looked spectacular..... Actually, we saw a fair bit of action in the deep end over the weekend, dobbo blowing stuff up, Steve read blew the clutch right out of the fueller, Upton's fuel bike on fire, Stevens beached his Harley (twice)....and Stamartis' effort in the final.....kept us busy.

    Anzac Day

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. If you can read this message thank a teacher, If you are reading it in English of your own free will THANK A SOLDIER! It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag. To all the brave men and women who have dedicated or given their lives to protecting this country and it's freedoms: Lest we forget....

  15. Does the $180 cover the cost of a licence as well?
  16. This is Mrs. Bionic, aka Loretta. Today was judgement day – the day I had to go to court for the accident that destroyed our XR8 on 10 Dec 2006. I got a no conviction recorded and a 12 month good behaviour bond. (still not exactly sure whether this is just for traffic ‘bad’ , criminal ‘bad ‘ or both??) My good samaritan sargent didn't follow through with his promise to stand up for me (only an apologetic smile as he left the witness box) and the senior constable from Bowral continued the tradition of losing papers (remember Paul Onions)- and had conveniently mislaid the notes Reg saw the sargent give her. The magistrate was a car enthusiast and used his personal experience to arrive at his decision.(Yes he stated this!!) He maintained that he had travelled at 130 mph down the straight at Eastern Creek and had never aquaplaned (didn’t qualify if it was wet or dry). He also stated that the XR8 was a high performance vehicle with a significant amount of high technology and could not aquaplane unless you are accelerating or decelerating??. He stated that he found it hard to believe that I had an exemplary traffic record (I did have a speeding fine of less that 15km 2 days earlier by radar so I didn’t know about it at the time of the accident) and went on to qualify that statement with ‘but then again there are old people who drive everywhere at 30 kph and have accidents happening all over the place behind them and consider themselves safe drivers’ All in all it was an OK result but the inference was that women (or just this woman) do not have the ability to handle a high performance car. My solicitor did say that it was illegal to have used his personal experience to reach his judgement and that we could appeal the decision BUT the cost would not be worth the points scoring. It just cost 2 grand to have no conviction recorded so I guess in terms of insurance etc it will eventually pan out. It's not sour grapes but the attending police officers only gave the situation a cursory glance - the constable didn't even get the place of the accident right on the photos taken at the scene.
