Ha ha.... Yep, sure do...not sure about the phoon' but lift the bonnet on any BA -BF and wiggle the grille. There never secure, and likewise everything else Ford uses these things on like underguard splash shields and stuff.....there always coming loose, and you cant tighten them.....what aggravates me is that you can only remove them a couple of times, if that, and there RS so youve got to replace them.....talk about expendable....sheeezzz
-
Ford call them "scrivets"....I call them one of the most stupid ideas Ford ever came up with They come loose, they rattle and, as youve found out, there a pain in the ass to get out sometimes. Why they couldnt just stay with good old self tappers locking into a plastic spreader clip amazes me.

Correct, an ANDRA Super Street licence is required for all cars quicker than 11.00 secs.(1/4) and 6.40 (1/8) mile.....it will give you entry into all national meetings, entry into the Injured drivers benefit fund, a permanent ANDRA race number and vehicle name registration. Regarding roll cages.....its best to source yourself a copy of the ANDRA rule book to ascertain what level of protection you will need for your particular vehicle and its capabilities. Hope this helps....

After doing a bit more research, Ive decided to give the Marangoni's a run...... Will get back to those interested after a couple of weeks........ Thanks heaps guys for all your feedback......

Ok, here's some more...... Smicky gave me two leads...thanks mate.... The first was an independent at Granville.....he offered me... Dunlop SP Maxx....$280 ea The second was an independent at Chullora.....his deal was ... Kuhmo KU31.....$250 ea... Tyrepower......Toyo Proxes 4........$250 ea Another independant offered me Dunlop SP3000 (same as fitted to HWP cars).....$275 ea. Confusing or what......and why is it that every tyre guy you talk to always says....... "These are great mate"...."Ive fitted them to my mates car (always the same as yours), my grannies car and every man and his dogs car.....and the've all raved about them"...... And ....every other tyre you've looked at is crap.....oh' their made in Italy...crap, or their made in Korea...crap and so forth...... Jeeez...give me a break I posted this to see what other people are using, and get their thoughts on what they've been running on.....my only parameters are the $300 ceiling and good wet weather performance.... Other than that.....Im open to any thoughts about this...thanks guys

The minister for finance has given me 1200 bucks to find some tyres for our T..... Since she aquaplaned off the freeway last year, she's gotten a bit gun shy in the rain so wet weather grip is important....... After doing the rounds today, Ive come up with these.....all fitted and balanced. Jax Tyres.....Sumitomo HTR Z11........$250 each Bob Jane......generic brand called Maxxis.......$280 each Independent......Marangoni Mythos......$280 each Goodyear......choice of Eagle LS 2000...at $298....or.....Dunlop SP Sport Maxx......$290. Anybody used these......Im leaning towards those Sport Maxs.....what do you think......

Got my licence in 72' on the second go.....bombed on the first for speeding..... First car...EK sedan.....freedom......had gangs of fun in it...even lost my cherry in it....eventually died against an earth bank while playing silly buggers in the rain. Second car....XM Futura hardtop ....only a six but learned heaps while I had it......died after rolling it just outside Bathurst while playing rally drivers on a dirt road.....first trip to hospital. Third car...289 ZA Fairlane....first V8....gave the poor thing heaps till one of my mates wrapped it round a tree. Fourth car..XT GT replica...came with a 289 that I blew up and replaced with a heavily modded 351....spent heaps on making it fly.....and learned a lot about driving in the process.....eventually sold the roller to one guy and the engine to another. Fifth car...XW GTHO Phase 1.....power to burn at the time and I just went crazy :cartman: ....in two years I had accumulated over 50 demerit points and only stayed on the road by getting licences in other states which you could get away with back then....was on first name basis with most of the local police. Sold it for peanuts in the mid 80's when nobody wanted to know about them..... Sixth car....XA Fairmont hardtop factory GS 351 4spd 9in......met my first wife and slowed down "a little".....sold it to a mate who put it under the back of a parked truck, sending his girl to hospital for 3 mths. Well, that's the first six..and Ive had about 12..... We can leave the rest till another day.

Hey Rob....did the photos turn out?
-
Great fun aren't they......we had a good rollup with a great bunch of guys and excellent weather. I was stunned at the lack of traffic.....nothing on the way down the old highway....nothing up Mac. Pass.....except for those bloody stupid trucks anyway. :ifiusethisimafag: Who would have thought you could go from Bulli all the way up the coast road to Helensburgh without coming up behind a single soul....what a great run..... My only heartstopper (besides the trucks that is)was that damn dog on the highway at Waterfall :ifiusethisimafag: Thanks to all who came along and I look forward to the next one.....

Steel City to the big hillclimb cruise........... Print off the directions if you wish Welcome to this cruise! In order for every body to have a good time, a few rules have been implemented. Failure to abide by these rules will ensure you are not invited to future events held by FordXR6Turbo.com. The reasons for these rules are: *** Safety We dont want to put any of our members, and the general public in any danger. *** Public Perception We do not want the Ford XR6 Turbo community to face the same ridicule and stereotypes other car communities face The rules are simple: *** Obey all laws whilst on the cruise; this means no speeding, no overtaking over double lines (no matter how safe you think it may be), etc...Any breaches will be reported to the local police. *** Use the Buddy system; always make sure you can see the car behind you. This will give people behind you an indication on where to turn to make sure nobody gets lost. *** CB Radios; if you dont have one, follow the maps or the directions given out. If you do have one, please limit chatter during the twisty parts of the cruise. This will allow the cruise leader to relay information about road conditions, upcoming obstacles, etc. efficiently. *** By attending this cruise you agree not to hold FordXR6Turbo.com, it’s Administrators, Moderators, Cruise Organisers, or Owners responsible/liable for any damage and/or grief sustained (simply; if you stuff up its your fault, not ours). But does anyone know approximately how many litres of refined petrol you would get out of a barrel?
-
You always hear about oil being traded in "barrels"....the cost of a barrel of oil is this or that or whatever..... Can someone give me an idea of exactly what the litre capacity is in a "barrel" of crude oil? Also, since obviously it has to be refined and stuff....how many litres of fuel would you expect to get out of a barrel? Someone asked me today and I had NFI......

And just look whats in store for next season after ANDRA has introduced new classes for inclusion at all national championship events........ ANDRA CHAMPIONSHIP DRAG RACING GOES HIGH-TECH NEXT SEASON – 14/04/2008 During the final rules meeting for the 2008/2009 season, ANDRA Championship Drag Racing took a significant step forward when the National Control Council implemented some major changes to the Group Two categories, including wider access to electronic fuel injection and the introduction of new categories and a new eliminator for cars using turbocharged four, six and rotary engines. Super Compact Eliminator A new Group Two bracket known as Super Compact Eliminator, accommodating eight classes based on the proven ANDRA Sport Compact programme, will be introduced from 1/9/2008. The class previously known as Pro Rear Wheel Drive will be expanded into three classes titled Sport Compact (SC). Cars will be permitted to use full chassis, modified steel or composite bodies and existing Pro Rear Wheel Drive technical regulations, with weight minimums and engine types as follows; AA/Sport Compact (AA/SC) 6 cylinder (4.0 litre max) 2400lbs minimum BB/Sport Compact (BB/SC) Triple Rotor 2200lbs minimum CC/Sport Compact (CC/SC) Twin Rotor / 4 cylinder 2100lbs minimum The popular OZ MOD (OM) class will be expanded to separate the four common engine types into two categories. Management software complying with ANDRA limits will be mandatory. ANDRA ANNOUNCES NEW GROUP TWO CLASSES FOR 2008/2009 – 14/04/2008 Competition Eliminator – New Classes From 1/9/2008, two new classes have been added to Competition Eliminator for dragsters and altereds using turbo-charged rotary engines. :cuddle: .....hahaha Ok, so if this does go ahead....do we have any particular destination in mind?
-
Nah, you just had a good leader that's all....... Seriously though, I love night cruises better than day ones.....theres usually heaps less traffic....and police(unless we bring our own anyway).....the pace is a bit more.....brisk.....and our cars love the cool night air. As said before, the only real drama faced by most is the possibility of getting up close and personal with the local wildlife..... It doesnt really bother me...Ill lead a night deal if no one else wants too....cant see the point in owning my car and being afraid to take it out in dark......

Six years ago our daughter got involved with hard drugs and just disappeared off the face of the earth. Before leaving she abandoned her then 14 yr old special needs daughter with us after the girl was sexually assaulted by a previous boyfriend. Grand daughter is now 18 and has the intellect of about a 12 yr old amongst other problems. In reference to your questions...... On the negative side is the amount of emotional baggage a lot of these kids carry.....unfortunately,most of it with good reason too.... However....on the plus side, this is far outweighed by the satisfaction that yourself and your wife will feel when you see the difference that you have made to their lives..... Good luck to you both ......

Stan (southside GT) giving his car a squirt up Taren Point Rd this afternoon....

Try 20-25 years..... They took the engine to the US but after a couple of years....NHRA banned overhead cam engines in all nitro classes.....Sainty's can't run their motor on nitro in the USA either...but due to more relaxed rules here, they can run it.

The car did mid sixes in the States with a carburettored 500cid Hemi.....and it sounded awesome And now...there gonna put a rotary in it.....jeeesus..... A rotary is a Jap engine.....it belongs in a "Jap" car IMHO
