Yeah right.....there's a mental picture I didn't need Mr. Moderator.... Since this thread seems to have...Err..."deviated" from the original topic.. Would it be possible to take all posts relevant to the proposed joint Coffs cruise and put them in another thread? Thank you....

**Makes mental note to put Steve and Trent in same room at Valla**
-
we could always bring our own I guess.... Damn you blokes for puttin' ideas in my head.... I picked Valla because Ive been up there before with the hot-rodders in Oct. and the place is perfectly set up for car groups and its cheaper as well as being only half an hour south of Coffs....the GT Falcon guys have a w/end up there every year as does the XU1 owners club and God knows who else... From what smicky tells me....you'd be happy at either end

Ok....if you can find a destination, I'll set up a cruise route "to and from" ok.... I wouldn't think the money's an issue (most members would have more than that in their centre console)... and if you didn't have any charity in mind, we could even set up a poll to decide which one.... But back to the cruise.... The biggest difficulty Ive had with trying to organise daytime cruises is finding a place where.... It's within an hour or so from Sydney.... We can safely park-up, and keep an eye on, about 20-30 cars..... Has BBQ facilities....or provision for the same....or a nearby place that sells food.... Enough room for the kids to run amok or kick a ball around.... And isn't chock-a-block on a Sat./Sun arvo..... I can't count the number of places Ive checked out only to find you can't swing a cat let alone park a few cars come the w/end you know....

Just a note to say thanks to all those who came along on our day and night runs during 2009.... I had intended putting up a night run during Dec. but between family do's, work do's, holidays, those of us who work on rosters, double demerit w/ends and other stuff.... in the end it was all too hard... So Ive put it off till January....so no more from me this year... I would however, be keen on a mid week meet-up prior to Chrissy if that's ok.... While Im at it, Id also like to thank the people who have helped me with the organisation and running of some of these events as well....you guys know who you are....thanks heaps... The 90 or so members who attended throughout the year....hard to believe that we have done more than 700kms of cruises this year on night runs alone(according to my records anyway)....with not one accident, traffic ticket or mishap to my knowledge....a credit to all of you. Looking forward to many more in the New Year.....thanks guys

Isn't that why God invented air rifles??.....

And for anyone else who still needs convincing..... Check here Global Warming: The Origin and Nature of the Alleged Scientific Consensus to see one of the world's leading climatologist's blow the lid off the way in which scientific journals are now operated......very interesting ....
-
I know jack about global warming/cooling or whatever right?..... But Mrs. Bionic has a science degree and explains it this way.... A little bit of science....CO2 is a bit strange in the way it dissolves. With most things, such as sugar, the warmer the water, the more it dissolves. With CO2, the colder the water, the more it dissolves. So there is heaps in the ocean depths and at the poles. As the currents move and the water circulates up to the surface (takes about 8oo years), more CO2 is released into the atmosphere. So how can an ETS stop something that happened 800 years ago??? Oh by the way, if the level of CO2 falls below 200ppm - we die.
-
Vote 1... ....Penny Wong for Minister for volcanoes, sea floor spreading and bushfires..... If only to see if the ETS money stops them from emitting that noxious CO2...
-
Many happy returns mate.....

All is not lost Ant.....stay tuned for a night run coming to the streets near you ....

Gary Miocevich is one of the principals behind the consortium lobbying the Victorian Govt. for a new strip..... From: Gary Miocevich [mailto:gary@motorplex.com.au] Sent: Wednesday, 28 October 2009 12:14 AM To: adrianmcgrotty Cc: Thornton ANDRA CEO Tony Subject: Re: andra drag racing facility Hi Adrian, Firstly thanks for your support as we have been suffering from some serious criticism from some Drag Racers which also includes some of our Victorian racers. Last week I met with the Premier and also with the Minister for Sport and Rec. I will meeting again with them in the near future. This is really delicate stuff and unfortunately we can't say much as it gets straight back to those that don't share or ANDRA Drag Racing vision for Melbourne. Some key points are; 1. It generally takes 5 to 7 seven years from the start of the approach to Government until you race at a venue. 2. I thought my previous experience would see that this time could be halved however the Victorian Government are not willing to just accept the WA and NSW ANDRA venues as being suitable for Victoria and we have had to go through the whole process from scratch. 3. The Victorian Government would not give us a copy Drag Racing Feasibility study as they said it contained some commercially sensitive information and one contributor didn't want us to see that information. While not sure, we believe that Calder Park objected to the reports release to ANDRA. We were so frustrated that we took the matter to the Victorian Ombudsman who directed the department to meet their FOI obligations. We have been informed that the process has now been completed and we should know what and when we should receive the part or all of the study in the next few days. We suspect that it has been with held because it is very positive to our argument. 4. We met with Mr Osler and Sport and Rec Victoria on July 17th 2009 where they advised that they needed to do a further study to define the potential sites more thoroughly to allow the Government to be able to select a site that was really viable for Government. They also wanted to check the operational viability of Drag Racing venues independently of what ANDRA had already provided. This study was to take two months and be finished by the end of September and we asked this direct question at that meeting. We have pursued them continuously from that time however they only awarded that consultancy contract this week. They have told us that tit should be completed by Xmas but that's a tight time frame. We are yet to find out who the consultant is (should know in the next few days) and we have offered a team of people to assist with this work. 5. We are also currently planning a major public rally which will be one of the biggest ever held in Melbourne 20,0000 plus people......you would be impressed when you hear of the corporate people involved....it will be huge. we will announce a date shortly, but keep February free. In summary we have been working on the Melbourne Project for a little over 3years and we have spent huge sums with our consultants and invested heavily with our expertise. I have had great support from Tony Thornton and the ANDRA team as well as from Perth Motorplex, Western Sydney Int Dragway, Willowbank Raceway and even the former NSW Premier Morris Iemma. We are making good progress but its hard, hard, hard, and slow, slow, slow..... you get a lesser penalty for murder! Unfortunately, many in our sport are ignorant of the complexity or dealing with Government and I am tiring of some of our own high profile Drag Racers who I have known for many years that appear to have no idea of the task at hand. Some are even talking of running at Calder Park which would certainly damage our progress to achieve an ANDRA Championship Drag Racing venue. There has been no ANDRA Championship Drag Racing in Melbourne since 2001 .... that's 8 years we'll never get back. We can achieve this goal but we require everyone to support the cause and I ask that you Champion the cause to all people that can help ..... and alienate those negative destroyers who haven't got a clue of the big picture. There you go .... you have the latest information as of today. Feel free to spread this info. Where ever you can please help by being a disciple and pushing the Victorian Government relentlessly .... never back off. Regards Gary Miocevich Project Director ANDRA gary@motorplex.com.au

Thanks for the link but most of that discussion is centered on 19" stuff and were looking for 18".....

How much do you want to spend??.... Im up for new boots too.... At present, Im running Marangoni Mythos which Ive been really happy with, but after hitting Mac. Pass with a couple of mates last night I realised that they have hit their use-by date. I got 32000ks out of these ones and I really can't complain....2 track days, numerous night cruises, great in the dry and pretty decent in the wet as well...at around 260 odd a corner, I'd buy em' again no risk.there just not easy to find is all.... So far, Ive been offered Yokohama Advan 103's at 250 bucks each but Im still shopping.....will follow this thread..
-
Sounds like your up and about mate....great to see.... And I'll definately take you up on that BBQ After witnessing the scene at Krispy Cremes at the last cruise...... I think we should at least organise bail money before we take Smicky and Nick to Hooters.....

1 Ford v Expensive Daewoo Paint ball (cheers nick) Great fun, good idea. Do you have to book this deal?....or can we just turn up?.... We could ask the guys from South Coast....If you count the both forums.... I'd reckon we'd have to get 20-30 plus guys..... Dare I ask who is gonna' organise this? I thought you would have been keen on karting..
-
I don't think 1, 2, 3 and 6 are really practical right now..... . You've got to make bookings and have definate numbers and stuff and we'll only get speared in the backside cost-wise this side of Xmas as well... I reckon they are better off left till New Year so we can plan.... 4 and 5 sounds good....arvo of karting and back to Eastern Creek Tavern for a couple of lemonades and a hit on the pool table afterwards.... No. 7.....I'm not a beach person....

You'd be amazed at what the police drive.....especially U/C cops.... One of my friends fits surveillance gear for several govt depts. and last time I saw him he was fitting out a Tarago with cameras, lights and all sorts of stuff..... Even in their own cars....to and from work....they can still go you if they think it necessary. As an aside, I'll relay something I saw a few months back..... Im stopped at a crossing....behind a Honda Civic with an old ute in front at the crossing... A woman is using the crossing and the bottom falls out of her shopping bag, there's groceries and cans rolling around and shes frantically trying to pick them up ..... The Civic and I wait patiently....but the tool in the ute doesn't even bother to get out and help her....instead, he sticks his head out the window and starts abusing her....I hear him yelling..."Come on...get going you silly bitch" By this time, Im working out wether Ive got enough time to get out and run up to punch him in the head or not...WHEN..... The door opens on the Civic and out steps a policewoman in uniform.... She walks past the ute, tells the driver to stay put, helps the lady with her bags and then directs this idiot in the ute to the side of the road while I drive past and give her a big thumbs up It was just gold!!!

Damn, that's a big sucker.... how do you go for bonnet clearance? You do realise that I might have to handicap you on night runs from now on.... just so we can all arrive together you know.....
