Who's Bf Turbo Has The Most Km's On The Clock
Disgruntled Goat replied to stretchy's topic in XR6 Turbo
just over 31,000kms and its a nov build... -
had exactly the same issue in my last car (BAII with premium sound). the crackling was really bad (sounded like the front windscreen was breaking) never got to the bottom of and havent had that issue with the BF
-
reply from Ford: I note he has said "XR6", not XR6 Turbo, which is what I asked about. still not satisfied I have a definitive answer, will try them again..
-
interesting. hopefully ford will confirm (if they ever get around to replying to my e-mail)
-
I have e-mailed ford for ananswer. I think the quote above from carpoint is right, but the ford website threw me (still listed as an option). the calipers are quite big and look at least as big as the PBR's. my real gripe is with the fleet dept of the company I work for, as they internally advertised the car as having the premium brake option, and are now backpedalling by saying premium brakes are standard on the BF.
-
by the way, I am aware its been hammered and dont care as its a company car - so dont be shy about owning up!
-
just got my new'ish T, its a black 6MT with luxury pack, sat nav, sports steering wheel, mats, 18" wheels and to my supprise - fordxr6turbo.com scuff plates! so I am obviously wondering if the previous owner is on this forum.. the car is a company car (so the person does or did work for the same company as me), its from QLD and was delivered in Nov. its done 17k kms, so obviously the person spent a fair bit of time in it. was this your car?
-
im told that premium brakes are no longer an option, as the new standard ones are "premium". I called the local dealer who didnt know anything about this but did check his price list and could not find premium brakes - indicating this may be true. can anyone confirm? thanks

that's true, the only way to get off quickly is with a clutch dump. this would account for most of your "wins" "modded" - can mean anything, for example the wrx's out there with just a BOV or diff back exhaust - does nothing for performance (in fact usually makes it wose). basic mods (a CAI, exhaust and ECU) will give a wrx an extra 40-50kw(ATW), more than enough to demolish your stock phoon (even if they dont launch it initially) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> True, but mine will always be stock and under warrenty, and if later on I did decide to do an edit, exhaust etc. then it would still demolish a rex for a dollar to dollar spent basis in a straight line, despite it even weighing in at 1805kg. Mate, im not gonna argue wid you, I cant be bothered. Okay hows this, back to thread topic.. In an auto T, you will win in a straight line drag with a rex (stock one), if they dont dump the clutch at 6 thou. (And if it was in the wet ) If a rex is what u like then great! Im happy for you, I really am, they drive okay for what they are (Mate has a resonably new 04-05? sti, cat back exhaust only), the T's are actually aimed at people like yourself who eventually decide to maybe have a family one day and need the extra room, and yet still want a car that's fairly quick. Rexies just dont "float my boat" that's all. Literally. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> agree with all that, although I would remind you of the price difference between the phoon and the wrx. BTW, just to clarify, im not bashing the T, its a great car (that's why im on my second) and really a different package/value proposition to a wrx (ie they arent in the same class). but, im not going to sit back and say nothing when I read morons braging about their cars being all conquering when they simply arent. love it for what it is, nothing more :flowers: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> just read the latest motor mag the mrt p-25 kitted wrx(kit cost $25695)ran et 12.66 so not shore what class you are talking about ,aps phase 11 kit cost a fraction of that and I still can beats it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you for real. $25K to runa 12.6 It cost me about $3k to get that time <{POST_SNAPBACK}> by class I mean small AWD 2L turbo v large RWD 6cyl turbo = not appples with apples. no arguement here that for the $$, XR6T is BFYB winner when it comes to mods and straight line performance. that P25 kit is rediculously expensive - for that money you could get better results from an STi via other avenues. what you dont get is the warranty and convenience. its definately not a good benchmark to use to compare.

gonna have to disagree again!! my bro has now done the above mods and we raced from a 70 roll an the stock xrt was still faster.. not nearly as much as it used to be, granted, but he sure as sh1t wasn't winning.. 400m, he'd win for sure.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> that's incredible - like I said those mods should definately give that amount of power (MRT actually guarantee it), which makes the wrx very quick indeed (should be low 5 / high 4 second 0-100). where did he get the mods done and what brand are they? has he had a dyno done? provided he is launching properly, he should be spanking you in a straight line, if he is not then I think something is wrong!! (or your T is a freak!)

What Is The Quickest Way Off The Line?
Disgruntled Goat replied to Disgruntled Goat's topic in XR6 Turbo
lol, this thread is nearly 3 years old! as I recall I posted it after getting spanked off the line by a maloo... at the time the car had under 1000kms on it. 2yrs, 70,000kms and one collision later it was another ex-fleet car sold at auction. anyway, as Geea described above is the best way I found to get it moving. -
ive said the exact same thing to people on wrx forums who claim wrx's are all conquering and thrash everything around (including substantially modded T's). dont mean to offend, but there are some moronic claims around the place...

My T is stock and I've hosed many WRX's - actually I'm yet to be beaten.... so an edited T should kill.... not sure about the Evo though.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> its getting pretty close now between stock wrx's and the T, comes down to launch and how quick your particular car is (there is a lot of variation between same make/model) if you have never been beat then you havent run many cars at all. "it comes down to the driver"
-
no, it doesnt all come down to the driver. the reasons it doesnt are mechanical differences like all wheel drive, driver controlled centre differential, active yaw control and active centre diff. the handling on the evo's now for example, is so good that just about any hack can drive one fast around a track - the smarts in the car takes care of the handling. check out the top gear episode where they put an evo 8 against a lamborghini murchialago if you need some proof. that's the league evo's and sti's are playing in wrt to handling - supercar territory. love your xr6t for what it is, big, comfy and with little $$, a straight line monster (much more so than an sti/evo). but if you think it will ever handle anywhere near as good as an evo or 05+ STi, then you are absolutely kidding yourself.
-
a good edit should be enough to pip a stock WRX, but you will need an exhaust as well to beat a stock STi or EVO. of course all this is straight line only, no matter what mods you get, they will always mop the floor with you around corners, so best to not go there....

What Do You Think Of White Xr6t's ?
Disgruntled Goat replied to LikeEmFast's topic in Members Cars and Modifications
they look hawtt when new, but after about 6-12 months (once they have faded and turned off-white) they look pretty crap imo. I liked my white T at first, but then regretted not getting one of the more interesting colours like phantom, citric acid or blood orange. there is a huge colour range for the BF's, seems a shame to get white -
ordered it, should arrive in a week or so. didnt think I would end up getting another "T", but there you go.... back to the "light side"
-
also, unfortunately the price isnt negotiable as it is a company car. the advantage for me is that I dont have to wait 3 months for a brand new one to be built and the lease prices have gone up since he got that car, so I am getting old (cheaper) pricing. I think this kind of arrangement might unique to the company I work for
-
sorry, meant to type "BF" only, definately not a BA! didnt realise there was a big leap in cost of tyres, but then the lease has a fixed cost that includes consumables, fuel, servicing etc (to unlimited amounts), so the cost would only be an issue for me if I bought the car at the end of the lease. this is also why I'm not shopping around in the second hand market. I know sat nav is a bit of a wank, but then its already on the car and isnt costing me much more so I figure I may as well, looks impressive if nothing else! does anyone have anything bad to say about the 6 speed? sounds like the consensus is that the rest of the options are worth it. thanks for the comments

Hi, I am looking at taking over a company lease car from a colleague, the vehicle is a black BF BAXR6T manual. What I am wanting to know is if the 6spd manual is any good or if I should really try and find an auto? I prefer manual cars, but after driving them both felt the auto was excellent whereas the manual felt ok'ish. Also looking for opinions (good or bad) on the following options, which the vehicle has: *luxury pack *18" wheels *premium brakes *sat nav *sports steering wheel cheers
-
ahh, must have got confused with the spare alloy requirement. cheers.
-
are you sure? I was told to fit P-brakes you need the 18" wheels, and I have never seen a cop car with 18"s. All the HWP cars out my way (XR8's, XR6T's) have standard rims and unpainted calipers (the P-brakes are blue).
