LOL I did the same - now it's dirty frying pans and a smoke filled house every morning. I just want 5 mins to make some oats and a coffee, but the kitchen is like Macca's on pay day.3 points

Made a slightly inebriated decision yesterday to buy another na engine for the territory. Can just do valve springs and run 15psi for a while. At least it'll keep it mobile and possibly motivate me to build it again.2 points

Had an old school XD Falcon with a 351 on the dyno this evening for a power run. The guy had moved the distributor before arrival and it was roughly 20 degrees too far advanced showing pinging, pre ignition and a very high idle. After a quick adjustment with the timing light, it ran up a respectable 162rwkw. The neighbours had just got home so they enjoyed an earful lol. I would give a fark but they have been insufferable carnts since they moved in, noise being the biggest problem. How the turntables2 points

I looked at the dyno today and thought about setting it up. It was 35c here today and the rain was intermittent, so I gave it a miss. The joy of an outdoor dyno. I'll get back on it tomorrow I reckon, keep things fresh and further develop the mafless tune for the Caprice. I have been watching countless hours of LS based HP tuners content, feels like I'm back in school lol. My OTR was lost in the post and after several calls and a couple emails, it's back on track to be delivered next week. That's about all I've got for dyno content, if you want a power run, hit me up, can get you in whenever.2 points

Shed got approved, just waiting on some more stuff but it's got a green light. 8x15 metres, 3 roller doors and a personnel side entrance. Now I can keep some cars out of the sun, the paint is farked on my xr6 turbo and the turbo territory is getting hammered too. Will be able to move the dyno in there too so I have a bit more privacy and less noise for the neighbourhood. Set up a hoist so I can service my cars easily and the best part is it will be fully insulated to keep temps in check. Happy days2 points

Good stuff on getting it sorted out AND coming back to let us know how it was done @sterps2 points

Thanks guys. This problem has been fixed. I ended up taking it back to my mechanic on a hot day and they were able to re-produce the issue. Ended up being the fuel pump. They connected a pressure sensor to it and you could see the gauge fluctuating quite a bit when the issue was occurring. One new fuel pump and it's all good. Today was a warm day in Melbourne and I was able to drive for an hour without issue!2 points

Well to beat a dead horse, here we are. Turns out I had BF cam caps, and BF VCT solenoids. Replaced with BA units and suddenly I have more power Unfortunately the pedal issue is still present. In the end, I believe I know whats happened, to an point. According to PCMTecs Forums, BA's and FG's read throttle position differently by 1 degree. I'm removed the TB and laid it on the rocker cover to inspect movement At 5% throttle, the butterfly valve snaps shut. At 50% throttle, the butterfly valve begins opening from completely closed. Right now I'm working at adapting a BA TB to the FG Plenum. I'll be cutting out a piece of steel plate to seal the manifold, and the TB. Reinstalling the BA Wiring for the TB. AND HOPEFULLY GET THIS POS (which I modified to be unusuable) WORKING AGAIN.1 point

Merry Xmas too, I use super grey, replace both seals, use too much silicone, better than not enough, it's all done with the engine and trans in place and there is a longitudinal clearance to adhere to with the sump and block, look it up. The manual will show you how to do it. Loving driving the WM Caprice now, I decreased the shift timing and it loves it, the new tune is night and day difference, who would have thought 15rwkw could make that much difference?! Can't wait for my hectic cam to arrive, it'll be sick. My mate has also ordered cam and other parts for his LS3 powered WN, I'll get it all done when he's ready. Here's a photo of my BF MK2 XR6 turbo that I still own, just in case anyone thinks I ain't got a spot for the turbo Barras1 point

Little bit of sound, little bit of power. Did tuning, ended up making 259.6rwkw, so a 16kw increase. Happy days1 point

So I've been keeping an eye out for parts deals and I've collected a few parts, all for about 35% of new price. Yeah I know this is a XR6 turbo forum but considering I'm learning LS stuff, I'm gonna post about it. I got a set of extractors and high flow cats, a hectic cam that's had less than 10 hours work, a set of new in the box valve springs and have been offered a LSD with 3.7 diff gears. I will get it on the dyno shortly, probably next week, I'm hoping for around 350rwkw but will see how it goes. After I do my car I'll be upgrading a mates car, so will report back on how it all goes. Looking forward to learning new things and helping others get fully fledged custom tunes, whether Barra or LS based. Still happy to do free tunes for a select few forum members1 point

Yay a day Took the Caprice to roll racing and got chopped by everyone lol...well except one car. Was going 160kph over the finish, compared to the 200kph the territory was doing with 500awkw. Ordered a sick cam and bought some extractors and cats, so I'll end up a bit over 300rwkw. That should be a bit quicker Also get 8.5L/100km at 110kph on the hwy, farken sick1 point

On the off chance anyone here is interested, I've been making some Aussie Fords for modified GTA5 servers. While not a racing game, FiveM is pretty much perfect for thrashing around, with a very decent physics engine considering GTA's vintage. Let me know if you want to drive these, or just see them developed.1 point

Looked at the dyno, did no dyno work. The flamin VCM intake finally showed up this evening at 9pm, would it be bogan of me to go out and fit it now? I'll fit it tomorrow and then I will get the Caprice back on the dyno for some more tuning. I'll be happy if it makes 240rwkw, might even be enough to beat a stock Falcon now Also managed to get the shed ordered this year and it'll be delivered end of January. Should only be a couple weeks for them to have it built and concrete done, will just have to wait and see1 point

Digging up this old thread again today to celebrate washing my ute for the first time in many years. It turned 20 this year, and it shows. It was a good looking car until I moved to the bush permanantly. At some point during the last drought, I learned to live with it dirty from daily dirt road use. After sitting for the better part of the last year, I took a long look at it and decided, if I want to keep this thing, it's time to rescue it. The short version of the rest of the story is, I can no longer poke fun at people for power washing their interior. lol Anyway, this thing needs a paintjob.1 point

Trans service for the shop car today, made it like new!!! Smooth shifting and crisp where it counts! Did a bunch of road tuning to dial in the speed density, now it's much closer to where it needs to be. I'll put it on the dyno tomorrow and sort out the wot stuff, it was a bit rich last time I checked. It'll be interesting to see if the power output changes.1 point

Nothing within 30km is open around here after about 8pm, so I made 3 packets of noodles, 4 eggs and 3 chicken breasts.1 point

I wouldn't think I'm any sort of celebrity haha... that's far from it, even on this forum... all good, though, much love I'll let you know when it's resolved and you can create a different account and/or merge the current one you've got into the new one.1 point

Yep that's the one. We get a lot less rain here though and it usually gets a couple degrees hotter. It was face searingly hot today.1 point

I've gotta prep the shed base myself, that involves digging 170m2 down 10cm and compacting road base or dolomite into it. To do that I need to move a cubby house, move some broken down cars, hire a bobcat and compactor and get to work. The middle of summer is the best time for all that lol After that the shed company does the rest, and they should smash it out in a few days.1 point

Looked at the dyno again, considered running up the Caprice in mafless mode to gather more data. Tuned the Caprice, didn't run it up... Shagged the missus instead and had some beers1 point

I come across cranky at times. Now that is out the way... You been asking me questions and I've been replying. Not saying you're lazy at all, clearly you aren't, but be farked if I'm answering a question you can work out yourself ie: the shifter position. Based on your progress I would hold you to a higher standard of question asking anyway Any farken way, keep going, you are doing well and you will get it sorted shortly. Not many people can do what you've done.1 point

Bought a house settlement date was 27th June... $$ but absolutely worth at as I'm loving being able to change whatever I want in this house and have more pets than just 1, amongst heaps of other benefits... only real downside is the sizeable debt/mortgage, but without kids I should be able to pay it off reasonably quickly. The photos from the real-estate listing... none of the furniture remained except the tv in the alfresco area, the security camera system and the "key" thingo on the wall in the kitchen... haha Outside the house... The front (a photo I took actually to see the real estate sign out the front): Trees are much bigger than this now in the backyard haha A nice entertaining area. As can be seen by these two photos, the whole area was filthy well before we bought the place. (as per the discussion over here -> https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/81090-cool-stuff-you-just-bought/?do=findComment&comment=1723568) And the sizeable garage definitely one of the main reasons I was happy to purchase it... it has a nice high roof too that might even fit a hoist 😜: Inside the house... The secondary bathroom: The bedroom in the back-left corner: The master bedroom (there's an ensuite and walk-in-robe to the left here, not pictured): The dining area and on the side the doorway to the back-right bedroom is visible: The dining area looking toward the front door. The kitchen storage space for days. The missus is happy with that The lounge room: The floorplan: To say I'm happy with the purchase is a massive understatement. I'll probably update this thread with other stuff I've done over the ~3 months I've lived here In creating this post, I noticed I've hardly taken any photos showing how we've set everything up 😮 No big deal, plenty of time for that sort of thing later.1 point
