This is the housing a mate made. Just got a chunk of billet and put it in the lathe at work and turned it up. We were going to do a few more but properly by machining the cap into it so we didn’t have the weld between the cap and housing but for the work involved didn’t get enough interest from others to worry about making more.
So I think it is about $2.38.9c per litre for 98 at the moment but that could go up as some new taxes are coming into effect about now. You can only get 98 from BP fuel stations and not all of them. For 95 your looking around the $2.30 mark and that is usually at all fuel stations.
Depending on numbers I can probably offer up some accommodation in the Chch area towards the end of your trip as long as ya not expecting much. If possible I will still look at traveling down and joining you for the trip. As mentioned earlier Radar detectors are allowed just not laser jammers, a lot of the police use the instant on function though so unless someone in range ahead of you gets checked you may get no warning until they have ya.
Keep us posted on what you come up with. Looks like I will have some common days off when you are about.
Finally got my shed to a point where I could get the old girl back in today so spent the arvo removing the engine. Bit of work ahead but will keep chipping away at it.
Next step is start pulling everything off the engine and cleaning and prepping everything to be re-sealed, will change valve springs before re assembling, and tidy up the mess of an engine bay. It's really stuffing with my ocd at the moment.
Got a new edition to the family! She's a week old today [emoji16] her name's Brianna. In Adelaide for a couple of days. Going to try and catch up with a few forum members if we get time.
Plenty of info around from those who have tried to go the in-line converter route and have been less than impressed with the audio quality. Personally, I'd roll with the separate HU.
Sorry I have my dates way up the s**t. Probably can't do the Accommodation bit as have some students still in here till 15th according to info I have. I should be back in the country from another holiday on 7th of Sept so will look at joining trip but hard to say at the moment.
There are a few roads it is about making sure you get to Chch when required. I'll come back to you on that one.
What Jet said. As you know, it's very tight even when just pulling the engine out. I'd bet my left nut that box cannot go in with the engine.. Hence why I drop the whole K frame and take the lot out through the bottom. Unfortunately, this requires a hoist...
@OZYWALKER Can highly recommend Modesta paint protection - I've had it on all of my cars since I found out about it and the way it beads it ridiculous. Doesn't matter how dirty the car is, everything just wipes off when you wash it.
Yea most of the ones I've seen on Fb look pretty rough. Expensive as well. The housing was $57, filler neck $9 and cap $25 plus $40 to get it welded up. So $130 all up I'm pretty sure they sell them for like $250
Lorenzo's start deserved a better race from him - that was awesome
much paint swapped
6 riders within 0.8?? 4 laps before the end?
Every team was in there fighting it out - most equal race in a long time - til the last 2 laps when MM just chuckled and rode off into the sunset
@OZYWALKER
I got a proper job done on mine shortly after I bought it (5/6?? years ago)
Still beads when it rains.
I got one that is fine with taking it through the touch free car washes - not the "Opti-Coat" or whatever is the usual.
The guy took 2+ days prepping and doing the coat - was about $1k
Haven't put a cloth on the car - ever - still looks spotless.
Busy arvo in the shed today and a busy last few weeks as well. Got the catch can I made last week mounted and -12 lines run to it. AN fittings welded to the rocker cover and gave it a respray while it was off. The can sits above the kframe just below the manifold. It's baffled with a few segregated chambers containing stainless scourers. And vented to atmo. Cooalnt expansion tank delete finalised and coolant flushed and burped. New upper thermostat housing welded to a filler neck. New thermostat and a coolant overflow mounted in the airbox. Plaz plenum installed with a ported stock lower half. Had to modify the Plaz coldside to fit the new plenum and move the Bov. Fitted the new fuel rail/reg (thanks Jet) and got the injectors cleaned. Surprisingly no tiny fuel leaks from any of the new fittings/hoses/rail. Then gave her a service. Few tiny things remaining and waiting for the front bar to get back from the paint shop. It's getting resprayed and a few cracks fixed then its retune on E85 time. Going with Dave @CPV in Mackay this time. Hoping to get that done in the coming months before Xmas.
