  1. Hi guys, back in a new for me. Fg F6, I sold my last fg xr6t mk 11. As I wanted to concentrate a little more on my rx3 project. And drove a diesel navara around for a year as my sorta daily, as I have a company vehicle. But missed the big barra rush. So here is the new kinda daily. Fg F6 bought with a few mods already done, had kings springs and bilsteins fitted, walbro 460,hard pipe kit, xforce stainless 4''dump pipe, xforce cat and an autotech 98 tune.Ive replace the front ssl kings springs for sl kings springs. And started collecting a few bits and pieces so I could get CMS to give the car a decent tune. It came with 318rwkws from autotech at Granville, the tune I thought was average and the zf tune was horrible. So first mod I did was install a large trans cooler with a fan. And take the car off to CMS to service and flush the gearbox for me with liquid moly synthetic fluid and genuine zf filters and gaskets. And bin the stock ford zf cooler.Next I fitted a pw stage 2 cooler which fitted the pipes already fitted to the car, plaz 4'' turbo side airbox and battery relocation kit,3.5'' catback xforce exhaust mated to the 4'' dump and cat,kpm e85 10 micron fuel filter and kpm modified bosch fuel reg,and lastly I fitted some xspurt 1000cc injs and Joe from CMS loaded a tune into my sct device so I could get the car from home to his shop with the 1000cc injs. So next off I dropped the car off to CMS and they fitted new valve springs with new retainers and Joe tuned the car for 98,e85 and the zf tune. Still with the stock f6 turbo,it made 385rwkws on 98 and 410rwks on e85,with the michellin sport cup 2 s spinning a bit on the dyno.Done with a peak on 17/18psi on both fuels. And the zf is now great to drive again. Firm but nice. Future mods would be a built tailshaft, and a more extensive fuel pump setup. And maybe a 66mm billet wheel for the f6 turbo. Once again,a big thanks to the CMS crew. Great work.

  4. OK. Better report in. This little Mexican decided to infiltrate a day early under the cover of darkness. Snuck past the checkpoint (quarantine) without any issues and am currently holed up a couple of hundred k's behind enemy lines in Murray Bridge. Will be continuing the push forward in the morning, hoping to setup base camp in the hills overlooking Adelaide before lunch and will be awaiting reinforcements and local sympathisers to arrive with further supplies and to strengthen our numbers later in the day. I highly recommend the afternoon/evening tomorrow is spent pouring over the local intel along with a heavy session of R & R before the full frontal assault begins the next morning. Rab signing off for the night. May the turbo gods be on our side.

  7. Baby's teething, I've slept 45 mins in two days, feeling sorry for myself..... so I dumped the kids at mums for an hour to go get a massage. Thinking how tiring and hard it is ATM I'm in my own little bubble walking into the shops and a man comes up with a soft voice and asks me if I'd swap a couple coins (a 10c and a 5c) for a cup of coffee or a sandwich. I say no sorry I'm busy, and keep walking. Literally I stop dead in the middle of the road and turn around and walked back. I gestured the man over, I asked where he was living at the moment, he said on the street. I asked if he did drugs, he replied no, I actually believed him. (I'm somewhat familiar with the demeanour of addicts, but really I just hoped he wasn't) He didn't smell of alcohol or anything, he just looked like he hadn't eaten in ages. So I told him to come with me, I asked him to wait outside the shop door and I went to the ATM, drew out $20, gave it to him and told him to please get something to eat for the next two days. The look of astonishment was all over his face. Then I walked into the massage place almost in dis belief of what I'd done myself. Then I started to cry. It dawned on me more than ever today. I don't consider myself a bad person, I don't think I'm any more selfish than the next person, but then again maybe that's still too selfish. Here I am with my Michael Kors bag, oroton sunnies, $100 ripped jeans and about to get a massage because I'm so tired and sore from a few days of no sleep thinking of throwing my kids off the bridge coz they're driving me nuts.... and this man just wants something to eat and a shower. I don't feel sorry for having nice things because I work hard for them, but I also don't nearly consider how others are doing unless it's happening to someone I know. In hind sight I wish u had of sat down and had a coffee with him. Perhaps the interaction would have done better than the $20 and ensured that he ate something, I don't know. But either way I feel both so humbled but like such a sh*t Karnt. Every day we just live in our bubbles and don't even notice others and their problems. Yes I know they exist, doesn't mean I do anything about it or I even take more than 30 seconds to register it. No it's not coz I'm intentionally selfish or because I don't care as such, I just chose to be ignorant tbh. I'm pissed at myself for not appreciating what I have every second of every day. I have the two most precious things on this planet and I take them for granted because they drive me up the wall. I know that this is probably normal of most parents and I know most of us get wrapped up in our own lives at some point and I'm the first person to say I hate it when people can't see outside their own box. It just really hit me today that I am so lucky to have the people I have in my life and also the ability to buy what I want (within reason), stock my pantry with food, drive a nice new car and come home to 4 sturdy walls and sleep comfortable in my bed. I donate to charity, I put in boxes and buy raffle tickets and all that jazz but I don't really know or see where the money goes as such. No matter how much good I did for that man today but helping him hopefully have a meal, he did way more for me!!! I cried the whole drive home and I've never hugged my boys so tight when I got back I can tell you that! *damn hormones I'm dyslexic and cannot turn off simple functions in tapatalk

  19. Ah bummer dude :( My last grandparent is my Aussie grandma and she's coming up on 90. Showed her the racewars pics and vids last week, she was happy for me haha. Never did get her a passenger ride in my car down the 1/4 either, she was keen but not sure if she would remember it if I took her down now. Not sure she could take the G forces!

  24. Safe trip k31th That's a nice 10,000 km since Nov Fords just keep on keeping on ... I'm charging up my batteries (cameras, CB) whilst I look for stuff to pack. I paid $1.49 per litre for 98 RON yesterday at local 7Elevien (for Mobil). Sounds like Ballarat is the place to fill up the jerry can as well! I'm aiming to meet up with you guys at about 9am at Belair on Sat morning so I can collect cabin keys before they close and join you all on the cruise over to Birdsword Museum

  25. 9/10 times the tuner will disable the rear o2 sensor as it will throw codes if you have a high flow cat.
    1 point
  26. To explain o2 sensor cause (if that what it is) they sit in your exhaust and measure the o2 levels to make sure that the AFR going into combustion chamber are correct. Ie if the car measures x going into the engine, the o2 measures y on the way out to make sure they correlate. When the sensors get bad (which just happens over time) they may give a false lean reading and tell the car to add fuel, hence the increased consumption. Someone with more knowledge might be able to confirm this, but I'm pretty sure this adjustment shows up in the long term fuel trim. If you check this and it isn't close to zero you might have an o2 sensor issue. Only about $100 and easy to fit. I also reckon its the front one that could be the issue, which is what compares what went in to the engine with what came out. I think the rear o2 sensor is more about whether the cat is working properly. I've got a BA which doesn't have a post-cat sensor so don't quote me on that.

  27. Reset the meter once you leave Melbourne and cry when you get to Adelaide because it'll probably never look that good again Just wanted everyone to remember to look out for the free donuts along the way Most are hard to miss, normal donut vans, but this one follows you between the 2 towns trying to force the glazed option on you.

  28. Okay and good range from LPG. I once did Esperance to Perth outskirts on one tank in a NA XR6 hire car - thats close to 800km. Couldn't believe the economy. But farrk me some of those roads were the straightest roads I've ever driven so far ...

  31. The comments point to the o2 sensor/s or a fark up in calculating. Instant fuel consumption can get very high. 1000cc or so injectors x 6 is 6 litres a minute at 80 to 100%dc. 99.9 L/H is tame. It's closer to 300 L/H which is where the gs34x runs out on our cars.

  32. got my carbon front guard from the UK :-) all I can say is wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought a carbon front guard for my GSXR from Geelong carbon Craft and I thought it was a pretty good product. Not so, this one from Carbon King is a work of art. Fits better than the standard one if that's possible I'm still grinning from ear to ear

  33. I would of thought the fact that you are practically running tune only with a couple of intake mods it points to something like the O2 sensor or even intake manifold leak maybe... People like Jet or Luke( ralphy ) would narrow it down a bit more for ya.. Mine fouled due to crap injectors and a rich fuel tune installed before I took it to Jetters..

  38. So my racewars weekend was kind of odd. Had some very frustrating issues with my car that really highlighted how little time I spend prepping it. I loved helping all the boys out and getting there sh*t to run as well as we could, but next year I really need to take time to go over my car properly. Saturday saw some average runs, but I was never out to set records. Given the setup was all new and largely untested I found some issues with boost control so spent some time replumbing the wastegate. @Uberxr was a big help and even gave me a banana so I would calm down and not wind up punching on of the many passers by who where asking very silly questions or suggesting what engine should be in the car. (You're not you when you're hungry here have a banana) My next two runs saw my terminal speed go from 201 to 224, but I was still having to peddle it and on the third run, I backed out early as the car didn't seem right. Turns out gut instinct was right and on the return road the belt let go. I made a fairly hot entry (speed wise) into the pit and was out pushing before the car had rolled to a stop and the usual suspects arrived to help get the wounded army tank back into the pics Special guest appearances from a couple of forum regulars in that shot. Much finger pointing, ohhing and ahhhhing occurred and after we raided everyone's parts stashes we realised we had a spare belt but not a balancer. so my day was done. At least she looks good when hard parked Saturday night saw me lapping around Albany to return some tools I had borrowed and eventually lending some tools to a mate in need before heading home depressed to a house full of drunken happy people so before I could say "who's phuckin idea was racewars" (it was discostig's for the record) I had a beer in one hand and a piece of oddly sauceless pizza in the other. Once we where suitably liquored up we did the obvious thing and looked into whey I was still seeing 26+lb of boost on minimal gate pressure. Luckily for my car, Toads and I do some of our best work after a few and soon spotted the reason. Silly error by me when setting up a couple of alternate tunes the night before saw incorrect load axis on a couple of critical tables which resulted in excessively retarded timing and overboost. So we fixed that, drank more beer and took the piss out of @IH8TOADS early onset dementia. Luckily Repco in Albany where more than happy to lighten my by several hundred $'s (at trade price) for the parts I required and it wasn't too long before this happened. I only got 1 more 800mtr run before the 1000's started so I used this as yet another part throttle test pass and the army tank managed 222. The 1000mtr runs saw issues crop up again, I wasn't able to maintain correct fuel mixtures for the boost/timing I was running so this resulted in less than ideal trap speeds. Log below show, RPM (Red),Throttle Position(Brown) and Speed (Green) and illustrates how many times I had to roll off the throttle and back on. Obviously this shows the car is nowhere near it's potential but this was the best it could do on the day so the decision was made to park it. A couple of tweaks on @Uberxr & @-Stever- primer missles saw them both gain a couple of KMH. The decision was then made to write a balls to the wall tune for @turboknapp car which featured all of the boosts, all of the sparks and a little less of the fuels but by the time this was done and in the car the lanes where close so the big boys could duke it out, so that was racing for the weekend. Sunday night hilarity included, Rude German waitstaff, disagreements about Private Party attendance, Steak Steak and moooooar Steak, Boong Eggs, Stolen Buckets and Arguments about Dogs and was one of the best times I've had in a long time. I think these two pics pretty much sum up the experience You win some and you loose some The weekend may not have gone to plan but the opportunity to hang out with some old mates, cement some friendships with new mates, buy a new airconditioner, get a haircut and learn about Uncle Garry and collect oh so much valuable logging data was worth it. Big thanks to those mentioned above and also @mummba for the constant laughs @LazyBrennan for spend two hours helping me remove the balancer (and also @Uberxr for the stellar ignition technician work) 2018 RW programme- Built Trans and TailShaft ALL the boosts and Sparks Aero oh so much Aero. There are some pretty big brick walls around the 245/250 mark you need to punch through. If I only I knew someone who knows someone who's an Aero Engineer for a Major Nascar team.........oh wait I do. For anyone who's thought about, talked about, dreamt about running your car... Don't be a Do it! Lastly Phuck Primer cars

  39. Been a really busy couple of wks leading up to RW2017, so bit of an update and a long read! So after the demoralizing failure of my GTX, managed to get a replacement for the car. In another life time and not such a short deadline I would have gotten rid of the low mount setup etc and gone to high mount, no real budget and time meant like for like footprint was found - GTX3582R Car all sorted and running, it was off for the big wkend, primer convoy away Accommodation was all sorted by Steve (who I must say has the fanciest driving shirts around) Cars made it all in one piece Couple of shots from over the wkend @IH8TOADS and some weird Lurker @Uberxr Seeing Double Some unicorns and a unicorn hunter Fastest NA F6 in the Country @Ralph Wiggum All in all a fantastic wkend with a brilliant bunch of *beep*, looking forward to next year already. The cars made it through and there was no major destruction which is a great way to end a wkend Racing. Topped off being driven home in the Support Vehicle from Hell This took all the gear did countless runs back and forth and even managed to let a single spinner go, could not have asked for anything more from the Daily Wiggum Bus

  40. I have ridden with the mindset that nobody can see me, even if they are looking straight at me, they can't see me. my only mode of transport for the first 3 years after getting my licence was on a bike. since then I've lived and breathed bikes for nearly 40 years. I agree that things have got worse in Australia. I have witnessed the rapid demise of the "average driver" I put it down to piss poor driver training coupled with some very bad road design. That's part of the reason I leave at 6 am with my riding buddies There are a lot less numptys around at that time of the morning. Nine times out of ten we only see a couple of other road users. Leave too late and the roads are crammed full of tourists, most who have left their brain residing in their suitcase at their hotels. Big city's are a whole different ball game. I did live in Melbourne for a number of years way back in the eighty's and ninety's and I would hazard a guess that the numptys there now would be prolific. I still had fun in the city though. I remember riding a road called the "Yarra Boulevard" I was working in town doing construction and would detour to ride my bike on this little stretch of twistys, scraping the expansion chambers on my very loved Yamaha RZ 500. In the weekends some local lads would constantly do laps up there. I also remember being pulled over by a copper on the eastern freeway heading into town doing 160 KPH and he let me off with a warning! Today that would be front page news, "Idiot biker dicing with death, 60 KPH over the speed limit" and I'd loose my licence for 3 months and cop an $1100 fine!!!! I jumped for joy when Queensland changed the rules and made it legal to lane split at traffic lights. (I always did it, but now its not frowned upon) You can get to the front of the queue, which is very satisfying in itself, but more importantly you get the jump off the lights and because bikes accelerate a lot faster than cars, you get to have your own space with no or very few cars in your vicinity. This is one of the keys to survival for the humble motorcycle rider (IMO)
