Bit of an update folks, insurance company's told me they will be writing off the car, and calling over the next few days to arrange paying me out. Shame for it to be stuffed, but I can start fresh and have another car.6 points

So I previously mentioned that I was going to see a sleep specialist about my inability to sleep normally. I've now had two appointments with her and apparently I have what's called Advanced Sleep Phase Disorder...which basically means my circadian rhythm is farked. So instead of being tired and ready for bed at normal times my brain defaulted to like midnight to 8am sorta thing, which when my work schedule involves me needing to wake up at 4:30am kinda threw me. Plus then I'd sleep in on break to compensate, which didn't help either. Not to mention it all screwed me over when the missus would stay over, coz I wouldn't sleep the first night she stayed, then sleep in the following night when she wasn't there to compensate, then wouldn't be tired the next night she stays...and tone and round the cycle goes. Sleep specialist gave me some light glasses that I have to use for half an hour each morning when I wake up at home and at that same time when I'm on site. So currently I've been doing that at 6:30am till 7am. The idea behind it is that it shines real bright green light into your eyes (brighter than you'd generally otherwise experience) to kick start your brain to go "ok, time to be awake. Don't need to be sleepy anymore so stop producing melatonin". Then she has me taking melatonin a couple of hours before going to bed. She's also got me trying to stick to waking up at the same time on break (6:30am), so that's it's not such a large disparity between when I'm getting up at home and at work. This in turn also helps me be more tired earlier in the night so I can go to sleep earlier both at home and on site. I've now been doing this for a week and have started noticing a surprising difference already. I'm not as sluggish first thing in the morning and I'm falling asleep much easier at night, and generally earlier. An encouraging thing for me too was that last night I actually slept with the missus there and I didn't need to take a sleeping tablet to do so. So I'm flying back to work this morning not feeling completely shattered and actually feeling pretty positive [emoji4]3 points

In all of my thong wearing glory I managed to secure (talk the missus into) a whole bunch of fuel money to go cruising through the hills next weekend. I might even switch to e85 but don't quote me on that. I'm looking forward to getting out the house and giving the car a decent flogging.3 points

Wmmfg, my oldest son has finished his first year of preschool. I went to their little graduation ceremony this afternoon. Despite being the youngest kid there, he has excelled academically although he still gets beat in running races. He has 6 weeks holidays and then it's 5 days a week in reception. I still remember when I was that age lol. I'll make sure this kid (and the rest of them) has a well supported, stable journey through his education so he has the best possible start in life!2 points

CCTV is awesome and one of the best investment I spend on my house. Doing mostly night shift the wife and kids feel safer and if wife hears something she can just flick it to HDMI and see all around the house. In saying that I didn't go cheap this time round went all out and got all network cameras and DVR. Cameras 4MP Turret Network Camera (night mode is out of this world so clear) all Hikvison Also security alarm has been setup for night mode. Garage, Media and kitchen area. I'll post pic later if you like of day and night.2 points

Best play crib ever. If I shut the front door and put on the headphones I don't hear a peep for at least 8 hours. and - if you zoom in to the window across the road (just to the left of the bub) you get a glimpse of the 18yo uni girl who spends the nights studying at the desk - without shutting the curtain2 points

Good stuff Dan. I've often heard sleeping in is bad for the body clock, as crappy as it is getting up at early hours on weekends...Just gotta make use of the late hours to balance it out so you still get as much active time for smashing video games. I mean doing cool things. WMMFGT Two lunches, nom nom nom Pasta in sauce from the deli, plus leftovers from dinner last night (corn chips and beans/cheese kinda nacho thing)1 point

mmmm I supply hikvision stuff and I agree, it's all awesome easily cost a grand in parts for 4 cameras + one of their decent NVR's (australian stock) I dont know about your other cameras but I must praise you/rab/whoevers camera it is lol for installing it at a decent angle, too many people install cameras too high, in an attempt to prevent vandalism/theft! With these fancy IP cam systems you can actually have the cameras set off a full alarm system if somebody knocks it/disconnects it/covers it/etc. heck, pretty sure your 4MP hikvision gear supports licence plate and facial recognition (obviously you need so many pixels to perform these actions so camera placement is important), but pretty cool huh! im playing with the uniview gear lately and I rate it higher than hikvision but what I really like is the hikvision cameras have no issues working with a uniview NVR (or dvr)!1 point

Have had some limited spirited driving with it in and really enjoyed the increased anchoring. I also found it improves my posture in the car! Great value in the group buy, no doubt about it.1 point
