Been a member now for close to 6 months, had a few ups and downs on the forum and realise that some of the things I said were out of line, whether they were taken seriously or not. I just got back from a cruise with some of the members on here and I must say it was an absolute blast. Everyone was quite friendly and I'm grateful to be apart of a community that share a passion for these vehicles. For the others on the forum who I may have upset with some of my comments, who I haven't met and who I probably will never meet due to location, I apologise for anything that was actually taken to heart. I'm sure you are all genuine down to earth people like the group I met up with. I hope we can move on and forget about that particular thread, which again was merely nothing more than a time killer for me. Who knows, perhaps some of you also got some laughs out of it. Anyway, hope everyone has a good one! *Buys everyone a round of beers*4 points

Was a great run Should be able to get some vid of you running behind be soon (once I've got home and had a chance to look through the 8+ hours of it lol) Today was a total blast - great people, great roads and great weather - doesn't get any better than that4 points

Well, thanks everyone who attended - it's you that make the cruise (and the roads and weather) Good to catch up with tab (who made the effort from sunny QLD), Rab, Pookey, Wilko (and his misses), HER and k31th again. Glad Kokentoe cud make it for the part of the main day (including the Sat BBQ). Thanks for tabmeister for bringing up the rear again - making sure nobody get's left behind. And of course Rab, Pookey, Wilko and HER all took turns keeping the pace up as we 2nd and 3rd geared into sweeping turns and engaging twisties (and I even dropped down to 1st gear in my BA more than a few times to stay within range). Wasn't without car challenges - Rab blew off a turbo hose (had a 40-61mm replacement hose clamp on hand), then his lappy inverter took out a fuse and Wilko looked for a moment like he'd have to drive half the cruise with his drivers side window permanently down My new dba4000 T3 slotted coupled with Akebono Perfomance pads ummm got a good bedding in Didn't have to pump the brakes pretendng I was ABS this year - could leave my foot planted down when I need to Was another GoPro effort - I have 192GB fark knows how many hours of footage that is from this cruise on my HDD already and I still have not downloaded Rab's and my SD cards from today!!! Thanks for the pics and vids so far guys - I hope to have some pics and footage up as well later on. All up for me - was 1485km round trip and 18 1/2 actual hours in the saddle Thinking of doin a Tassie cruise early May next year as the next extended cruise. And of course - if there is enough interest we'll do the Snowy Cruise again3 points

Earlier this year I participated in the World’s Greatest Shave to help raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation. Unfortunately I lost my Aunty to Leukaemia last year, so know first-hand how devastating it can be for those suffering from this horrible disease, as well as their families and friends. With the help of many of you I was able to raise over $2,500 this year, an awesome achievement! By the time I shave my head again in March next year I’m hoping (with your help!) to beat that. The money you give you will go towards research, which is needed to find better treatments and cures for leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders. Your sponsorship will also support families when they need it most, providing leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma patients with a free home-away-from-home near hospital during their treatment. It will also be used to help transport them to appointments and provide as much practical assistance and emotional support as possible, all free of charge. I know you all love pics, and can attest that I delivered on shaved head pics last time. So would greatly appreciate some donations from anyone who can spare a few bucks If you'd like to donate please head here: http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/danielowen Cheers, Dan2 points

^Waste. Meth has large operating range were the motor will be left in tact. 10 seconds of throttle at a time you won't see the change on the gauge quick enough. Better off just turning on engine protection to monitor oil, fuel, coolant pressure to shut off if any problems. You should also add a pressure relief in a couple of core plug holes and coolant tank in the boot for incase of head lifting water under tyres again situation.2 points

See you all next time. Epic cruise as always guys. 340 km to go.2 points

Personally I've never understood the talking on a mobile phone issue. Texting yes because they take their eyes off the road for extended periods of time. The two arguments I see thrown around for talking is firstly, your hand off the steering wheel. Okay, so we should also ban car stereos, air conditioning, window controls, manuals, tip Tornio autos, etc. Secondly is that it is the conversation, well we must ban talking in cars then! And if it is truly the conversation then why is hands free allowed? Like I said earlier, texting, etc. on the phone I understand banning but talking on the phone makes zero sense to me when it comes to the bans.2 points

What a cruise! Can't say I've had that much fun behind the wheel before. Will definitely have to do it again next year and the whole thing. Hopefully get my mate to tag along with his F6. Cheers guys!!2 points

I took Pep for a drive up north to my sisters, I wanted some realistic economy figures, so here they are.. it's a 230km drive each way, probably 80% freeway with cruise control set to 130 and a/c on, 20% stop start driving.. I made it up there using abit over a 1/4 tank! I couldn't believe it, the average trip economy was showing 12.7l/100km and This is e85! I brought 3 20l gerri cans with me just in case.. Done a little bit of driving while up there, poured in 20l before we left which took it pretty much back up to full... The drive home was a little more spirited but didn't use much more fuel and the average moved up to 13.3l/100km.. Last night we went for a squirt, I poured another 20l in before leaving which brought it close to full again.. Now this is still freeway driving but a little different, a few more cars involved and you generally need 400+kW to come out, so you can imagine what the go is.. So today the average economy read 14.9I/100km (not bad) I filled up, 45l went in and the dash read 581km since I stopped at the servo Friday night So 40l from gerri cans and 45l = 85l of fuel (85/581)x100 = 14.62l/100km Not too shabby IMO I guess the ceramic coating and porting helped towards that Now in saying that, around town it's less then desirable, but I'm interested in doing some more realistic every day economy figures.. Thanks guys1 point

I'd love an RX7...they're getting on in the tooth a bit now, but they still look and go amazing!1 point

They're good hey. I went in one that only made 300 pr 350rwhp or so can't remember exactly but at 900kg of car it still felt pretty damn fast. And they just keep revving forever building more and more power!!! Very different vibe to an xr6t1 point

Narva 50+ pair around $40 on ebay. For the 18m life this seems reasonable for the extra light I get in the EL. Nice and white too. I'm actually not sure what's in the BA as they haven't blown in the time I've had it. If you change globes make sure you get a tune☺1 point

I have 320rwkw give or take and have had that since 100,000km mark, now up to 288,000 I think. Flog the tits off it all the time and it's still good. Did valve springs at 200,000 but needed them right after the tune to be honest (rough idle after WOT is a symptom of soft springs). Just let it warm up AND down, then change oil and filter every 7,500 with good oil (Castrol Edge in my case). Do it at 5000km intervals if you do short hard trips. So I say the Barra / XR6T is very reliable if treated right. I still have all the original engine bay ancillaries too. Missus can easily drive it too, just stay light on the throttle and the 4L torque gets it going well enough. Never been hassled by the cops. Even with angel eyes, orange Brembos and a big windscreen banner from a race event. Pulled over for "random" breatho a week ago (they dropped a u-ey to get me) and not a word was spoken about the car. Entire mod spend was about $5300 initially for the first custom tune (injectors, exhaust, cooler, intank pump, XCAL3, custom tune) and then later on had to pay for valve springs and retune. Which leads me to.... Warning, maintenance is expensive if you drive them hard or a lot. Wheel bearings (fronts done twice, rears once), suspension components (ball joints, bushes etc) all flog out regularly on me. I do drive it hard though. I can't help it, it's farking fun!1 point

Hows this? This is my engine builder and tuner, Brett Ghedina from Pace Motorsports with his own race bike on the Tokyo Motorsport dyno today. This bike is a Honda CBR929 running full alcohol, a GT28 and as youd expect, a fully built motor. This run was 380hp at around 18 psi boost. The alcohol fumes in the dyno room were so toxic that I bailed out after this run. I prefer to go blind by conventional methods. He eventually got this to 25psi and 470hp, but he couldnt get the additional methanol cooling injector to spray so he could squeeze even more boost into it. He is expecting to reach 28psi and over 500hp! From a CBR929 FFS !!!! This bike has already run mid 7's. His personal goal is to run a 6 on an aussie designed and built, no bar bike.1 point

We just spent the day on the dyno and the drag bike is all done. Low boost is 11psi and 300hp/155ft/lb. We found the limit of the stock coils at 17 psi with 360hp and a killer 190ft/lb ! I was hoping for 380 or more but always knew the ignition would limit us at some point. Then it was time to set up the antilag boost building function. We managed to get 6.5psi at 6000rpm. I can tell you that sitting at the startline on this thing when its popping and cracking like a demon is something else ! Im super stoked and cant wait to ride it in two weeks !1 point

Cool stuff going on with the race bike. We're on the home stretch, which is lucky because its now leas than three weeks before the first Comp Bike meeting. Brett from Pace Motorsport cut the base of the fuel tank out and is fitting some quick release fasteners so its now just a quick release engine cover. Then he fabbed up this 5L fuel cell with the fuel pump mounted right behind it. This mod means I wont have to run 10kgs of extra fuel to make sure the fuel pick on the bottom of the tank doesnt suck air at the hit. This is the return line. Theres a pipe on the inside running to the bottom of the tank to stop fuel being aerated on return.1 point
