  2. well as its been a few days now I fear the worst and Im thinking time to move on. Best case scenario I get it back and its all still mint. Alternatively I hoped the f*ckers wrapped it round a tree got trapped inside and slowly burnt to death. Yeah think I prefer this one TBH.

  9. Dont want to say too much but they had the spare key. Thanks to everyone for putting the word out and keeping an eye out, much appreciated. After all the time and work ive put into it I'm devastated its gone, part of me really wants it back but theres also a part that says "no you dont", dread to think wot theyve done to it. Ive always been very security conscious especially with my cars etc but from now on ill be stepping it up a level. As far as a replacement goes, the way I'm feeling at the moment I wont be bothering again, spending all that time and money for this to happen. Thinking I might just buy an old tray back ute and not worry about it. Then a little head pops over my shoulder and says "new XR8" Look after wots important to you guys.

  13. Ive said it once, and ill say it again. Change your tuner. Ive been around here a looooooong time. And seen plenty of stories like yours. I did the same, I was fcuked over by HPF. Your tuner obviously doesnt care about your car, the tray is evidence of this. He would have seen the tyres sitting in the back before he got into it and drove it. And they all end well when the car is taken/towed from one dodgy tuner, and taken somewhere else to somebody who knows what they are doing. For example, Mick at Pitlane. He has fixed many cars that others couldn't. Cut your losses. Sever relationships. Do whatever. Get it towed down to Mick at Pitlane, and get it fixed properly.

  14. I am writing this to let members know about a very common problem that affects the Turbo Falcons. The electronic boost solenoid gets sticky after about 10,000km. I did this maintenance on my car last Saturday night after reading about it on another forum. My car felt sluggish going onto boost. While the car still pulled like a freight train, it did not come onto power like it used to, so I thought I would try out the procedure. The difference was noticeable on the Bathurst Christmas cruise as the boost came on like it used to without the lag that I was experiencing before the maintenance. Now I have tried to write this for anyone with the right tools and a very basic mechanical knowledge. If you do not feel at ease under the bonnet, you may be best to get your friendly mechanic or mate to do it. Firstly the parts: Can of WD40 or similar (I used Nulon spray) 10 and 12mm spanner Long nose pliers 10 minutes of your time. Now this work can be done with the battery installed, but is easiest if the battery is removed. 1. Open the bonnet and locate the battery and remove it using the 12mm spanner, removing both terminals and then the battery clamp. The arrow is pointing to where the boost solenoid is located 2. With the battery removed, locate the boost solenoid pic has a circle around it 3. You can either grab the hose with the long nose pliers or undo the 10mm bolt to make removing the hose easier. Once you have removed the solenoid, remove the top black hose adjacent to the plug with the long nose pliers. It is important that you do this carefully and pull the hose straight off, do not wiggle it off or you could break the plastic tube. The hose can be grabbed above the metal clamp and pulled straight off with a little force. Once the hose is removed, spray a liberal amount of lubricant (WD40) into the plastic tube and also up the rubber hose. Reverse the whole procedure and go for a drive. You should notice a significant improvement in the way your car comes on boost. This should be done every 10,000km for optimal results

  15. Essentially this http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/80915-stevanfords-g6et/#entry1346545 Yesterday I dropped the car off at Autotech for them to install the GTX, Atomic valvesprings and to get the catback exhaust done. Also got a ZF tune + ZF service. This afternoon it went on the Dyno where Spiro told me not to expect anything special due to the heat. (It was 42 degrees at 5.30 when it went on the dyno. Wasn't expecting anything anyway) First dyno run and we saw 405 rwkw. To say we were both ecstatic was an understatement. Spiro mentioned previously that he saw 402 on another FG a couple of weeks back when it was about 15 degrees cooler. Did a bit more fiddling and he made sure the tune was just right and it made dead on 400 rwkw. To say I'm pumped is an understatement. This car was great before. It is absolutely awesome now with the ZF tune and GTX. Acceleration is unbelievable. From 80ks onwards, nothing will come close. I just love this thing. If you're thinking about a GTX. JUST DO IT. You will not regret it. Massive thanks to Spiro and the guys at Autotech. This thing is ridiculous. I love it. <3 GTX :sungum:

  16. You probably can, but not worth it with insurance... Just drive a non turbo till your off your p's mate It's not that long of wait, and you will respect the turbo a hell of a lot more Also p-plater with turbo is 90% chance of losing your license, and if you have your own business you can't afford to not have a license (Also I just turned 25, so I'm not an old Bugga whinging, haha) just offering advice

  19. P1288 in your case is likely to be tune related. That code is telling you the boost level is lower than desired. It doesn't necessarily mean a mechanical fault

  24. If you want some good information, go to injectordynamics.com and have a browse around there. I had a good look around there before I ordered my 2000's from Herrod and the Library contains some really interesting stuff, even though a lot of (well, pretty much all) of the tech stuff was wayyy over my head, it was still well worth a visit.

  25. Thanks for sharing this with you and your family and friends. I have a good idea to get the best way to get the job done. The only problem is that the company is looking forward to hearing from you soon as possible. If I could get to see the light of the most part, and a half hour. The first is that it would take to make sure that you can see that it would be great. I am a beautiful person.

  27. I do know that its been done before in a street I lived in years ago. The owner reckons that they turned up in 2 tow trucks at 1am in the morning and opened there garage and loaded his HSV GTS and his 80 series landcruiser, all while they were sleeping. He was insured and he had new for old replacement. Funny that the VZ HSV GTS was no longer sold so the replacement was a VE GTS series 2............ Ever heard how loud a tilt tray is when loading..... The owner was a little nervous when I started asking questions about the tilt trays loading them...... Not saying that's the case with yours mate. Just stating a story.

  28. After having some trouble getting exact details on changing my one over I thought I'd just put a short guide up just so there's something on the net. Getting inside the tank is pretty straight forward and can be found in the how to replace pump guide. Starting with the pump out you will be here This is what your looking for in the tank The bracket/mount is towards the back of the car, the amount of fuel seen is actually a quarter of a tank so unless you drain it your going to be putting most of your arm in the petrol anyway. You can see a tab in the middle of the mount which is pulled out wards allowing the mount to slide forwards giving you this The sender is a simple click on/off. My one failed due to losing the metal tab that makes the contact on the swinging arm New for comparison All you have to do is pop the arm out of the old mechanism and clip into the new one. Clip that to the mount, run the wiring. Getting the mount back into it's grooves for sliding and locking is annoying but didn't take too long. The rest is then just putting the pump in with the clips and connecting the lines back up. I bought my sender off eBay, which was a fair bit cheaper than from ford direct. Part number was BA9275B for the sender and a seal.

  29. Yes they can. but lets put things into perspective. How many cars do you think were stolen today? do you think its financially viable for the insurance companies to pay someone to trawl through XXXX amount of footage, to lead to nothing? What if it was put into a shipping container, or old mates garage? Or is it cheaper to wait until the car turns up? Even if it was spotted, whats that going to prove? It was last spotted eastbound on such n such. Male driver. 150kph. Insurance companies dont care, they want to do things as cheap as they can. And car theft isnt a high priority on the po po's list of chit to investigate. Read above. Yes all video footage is available to any state or federal po po. But to pay someone to trawl through it simply isnt viable. Especially when it could lead to nothing. Most footage is kept for 28 days. GPS trackers are a excellent idea. I will find out the system we use here at work, it utilises Google Maps, it can tell if the car is powered on off, current speed etc etc. Not sure what the subscription fees are......

  30. well whats going to be cheaper in the long run? he could persist with tuners who really dont know whats going on and dont really care.... or the car drives - drive it down, fly back, then when mick calls and says its ready, fly down and enjoy the drive back. CMS is another option too

  34. The wastegate hole in my turbo is round, perfectly round. no flat section at the top (should be pics in another of my threads) if its bored out and the guy is worth his salt, then he'll offset the hole slightly lower to allow the flapper clearance at the point of closing. I spent a fair bit of time blending the port inside with rotary stones and carbide burrs to get happy with it. I cant fault my 3582. 390rwkw 98 and 432rwkw E85. Flapper mods are cheap if you go to the right places. my .02c

  35. If there is enough interest, a battery relocation kit and a hot side CAI, could be on the cards. It has to be a combo, so both items to be purchased. Thoughts?

  39. Being of the "older" age bracket, I had to put up with Sol and his oils aint oils sh*te adds for Castrol GTX which was nothing but rubbish, so never "bonded" with Castrol at all. Just had Castrol of some description in my VE GTS, and it did nothing but rattle its head off. Was OK on previous Mobil 1, and is now OK on Fuchs. Just not a fan. I use Nulon in my turbo ute with no issues.
